They were very clever back in the day - no voiceovers were possible because of the technology, so they just used different music and different fonts to convey personalities and then had really good writers to put the icing on the cake, leaving us with a game, that when we look back we actually have the voiceovers in our heads of what we thought they sounded like, and I bet we all think they sound similar even though there were no voices!
I really liked your channel and this video. If you need any help getting this video exposed I use a site called tubeviews.(net) It has really helped like 20 of my main videos get to the top in position. Its nice.
does any one remember what happens when you give the melnorme 10,000 credits to tell you why the deck becomes purple or what-ever.. you only get one chance to ask them.. but i remember doing this but think all they do is tell you a story, any vids??
It's not impossible to get 10,000 credits. I know that I got at least 7,000 in total, and if I were to have focused hard on getting 10,000 credits, I'm sure I could do it before the forced ending of the game.
I may not be able to buy much else, but I'm sure I could get 10,000 credits, maybe even 15,000 if I really focused hard on getting those biologically rich planets.
I mean even after buying all the technologies I could, I still had 3,000 credits left over, and I wasn't even focusing on hitting biological planets. I could probably even reload back to that point and focus on hitting all the biological planets I could find, and still get 10,000 before the forced ending of the game. Although, that would be difficult seeing as I was like a year or half a year from the beginning of the forced ending.
A true mystery...all I know is that it is the Sport of Kings, and that Star Control II was brought to you by it (at least according to the Tongue Man :D)
It's just a name. I doubt the creative talent even had an idea in their minds of what "Frungy" could be. They probably just came up with some random word that sounded like it could be a word in the language of the Fot hot pik, or whatever.

NEVER a better combination of graphics, music, sound, story, dialogue, ending and re-playability as Star Control II. Combine all that with the fact that there has NEVER been a game that comes close in terms of game-mechanics. Games are so one-dimensional nowadays and lack imagination.
Star Control II is a true diamond in the modern world of manure gaming.
You aren't kidding. Even the most imaginative games these days are really nothing more than cliches with different attachments added to make them seem different than the bazillion similar games that came before it.
I love open-world games, but the main problem is that they keep pounding the same dirt, never innovating, only modifying what's already been done. None of them want to really take that plunge into a truly intuitive and realistic game.
Everyone needs to go to toysforbob(dot)com and sign the petition for them to make a real sequal to Star Con 2. The game was amazing and I want to see another one!
Actually, isn't that petition for releasing the source code for Star Control 1 so that toysforbob can make a proper open-source version that can be altered to work properly on today's modern computers and os's?
As for the sequel, there already is a sequel, it's called Star Control 3, only many of the more loyal fans of Star Control 2 do not like what they did with Star Control 3. I've read it has something to do with the fact that the original creators of Star Control did not work on 3 and the blue woman looks ugly now.
However, it seems that for as many as say they hate it there's another one saying they like it. So I'm thinking it must be good for non-hardcore fans.

I believe it is impossible to get the credits required to find out why the bridge turns purple.
It was done to ensure that you never know.

This is part of the ending. After the main story ending is completed, we hear from some of our alien friends and foes.
