Wahaha watching this for the first time in 20 years! Doesn't make sense anymore! Advanced robots karate-fighting instead of using their extra weapons, and Optimus being piloted by human noob???
@ MattcossinUmm Keep in mind that this is a Continuation of the G1 Series...and its from the Original Makers
@ Nicholascoony, Yes he was
I liked this series..but i think the one I like most of all the G1 Series was Transformer V....Ginrai actually Dies in that series and is reborn as Victory Leo and combines with Star Saber (leader of the autobots in this one)..the series is supposed to take places like Many years after the MasterForce series
I grew up with the original transformers. This is really a poor, POOR attempt at continuing a classic. Doesn't hold a candle to the original, which had more of a scifi/epic feeling to it. This feels like Vultron/ empty suits with people in them.
one thing i dont understand and tried o find out (with no luck) if this is a body meant for optimus prime then where is optimus prime and what does he look like?? Does he ever turn up again??
It's hard to explain. If you saw the whole episode you see the Truck popped out apparently from nowhere and everybody couldn't explain it. So, not knowing what to do with it, they throw it to the first newbye, Jinray. But that wasn't a coincidence. He was in some way choosen by the truck to be it's new mind.
This show of the Transformers: Powermaster or Masterforce kinda reminds me of both Anime's Hades Project Zeorymer and Transformers: Aramada. However, I never understood Transformers: Pretenders and how they work.
Actually the whole Headmasters were intended for 9-12 years olds. Masterforce for 14-17. victory for 12-16. Armada for 14-18. And others up from armada used the standart anime "mild" age category(14-20)
No, the american ones are the most infantile, NO HUMANS EVER DIE! Hre in chapter 2 they kill Shuta's father, Shuta finds him dying and can't do anything for him, the destrons kill some policemen and in 26 they slaughter people in the moon base and I can continue with a long list of deaths of cybertrons and people, besides the characters from here are not as square and simplerican ones, they feel, make mistakes and fight to protect their loved ones, much better than the previous ones.
You know, I happen to love the G1, but c'mon, you gotta admit you can't compare the Spike from the firs episodes (altough his personality really improves in the third and fourth seasons) with the japanese characters, but I respect your position. But tell me exactly what did you meant with your comment.
The Powermaster concept kinda confused me too. I understood one thing, and that was the Powermasters' provide extra energy to the Transformer from their own body. Though, I'm not certain if the human Powermaster "look" were exo-suits or was it a complete change like the Tekkaman concept from the show Teknoman?
Other one was continuation of original g1 series, called "HeadMasters". In this continuity "rebirth" events never really happened. Optimus died in early episodes, saving cybertron, when Vector Sigma was overloading(he bassically merged with Vector sigma, but his body was destroyed in process).
What you see here is happening before the "Victory" but after "Headmasters". Kinda new body for optimus prime was created, but it was lost while being transfered to cybertron. This is that body - since it has no "spark" or soul(w/e you would call it) it requires a human to act as its "soul". in end of "masterforce" the body of optimus prime reached cybertron and optimus Prime was revived. What you see here is basically that human controling the empty body.
by merging with it, they become one entity(kinda like that human's "soul" wwould be inside the optimus prime's body).
As about pretenders - they are robots, who "transformed" themselves into form similar to the ones existing in the planet to stealthy co-exist in there.
You can see the huge style differences between the American version of transformers animation and Japanese. The slower more drawn out transformations and such. The more magical part are brought about. The guy turns into a pretender and a robot just because he can. No judgment, but you can definitely see the difference.
The pretenders are god compared to all the G1 car-to-robot TFs. Its ashamed the we (US) missed out this whole trend. The Japanese put a spin on it to magnify the transformations which is what the early cartoons failed to do. There are better TFMF episodes on youtube. The US versions have always been way too dramatic. Like a brady bunch episode.
Its not G1, but that's damn interesting in its own way. I'd read about the Japanese versions of TF being very different, and used humans far more so I wasn't surprised. I'd love to get those on dvd, are they in PAL OR NTSC? Thanks for posting, very cool, keep em coming.
@00:23-00:25 Ha! The animated gif conversion that made TFWIKI exist!

i know imma get yelled at this but.. japan ruined transformers
Oamanu 4 years ago
Nah, I won't yell at you. Based on what I've seen of the Japanese shows, I know where you're coming from.
Part of the problem was that the Japanese Transformers shows were, and still are, not intended for a wider age range, but for a very young audience.

eh im tolerant with the unicron trilogy its just like transformers victory, transformers headmasters masterforce...

I agree with you 100%. The unicron series sucked.. the only ones I can watch are g1 and animated
BaseballJunkie35 4 years ago
The only series I find with unicron that "suck" was in Transformer Energon. Transformers Energon and Transformers Armada both sucked!

Powermasters: robots with humans who allow them to transform
Godmasters: Humans who can become robots
They were made from the same molds, though.

Its still G1. There are two continuities for G1. One is "rebirth" storyline, which was aired in usa to end, then already cancelled g1 series.

Technically it is still G1.
The Transformers are also not controlled by humans. Humans and Transformers become on entity.

Cool, still like G1 best though.
