The Dungeon of Doom was filled with very "strange" and "scary" wrestlers, so it made sense for another "strange" wrestler like the Yeti to join the group. Kevin Sullivan's Dungeon of Doom was the epitome of strangeness. That's what the dungeon of doom was all about, weirdness and strangeness.

If you understand what the Dungeon of Doom was all about, then you'll see that it was normal to have the Yeti in the group.
