Next time, try this. Keep the car level and on the ground. Set up the removal tool ( a stronger one) without a cheater bar. Position the removal tool at the 3 o-clock position. Use your floor jack under the removal tool and jack away. No hassle, no cheater bar, no problems. Use the entire weight of the car and the ease of a jack.
my cousin drives a 91 honda CRX-HF, and once we had to change the axle. I used my snap-on CT4850HO and a 32mm 1/2" Drive socket. The car was jacked up setting on a stand and the wheel was removed, I held the hub in one hand while I removed the nut with the impact using the other hand. Don't believe it I can show you a video.
That's when you set the parking brake and get an impact wrench. Having the same problem with a car I am working on. But setting the parking brake keeps the car from moving.
84 Tercel SR5 - Just bent my breaker bar, and yes while heated with a torch. Impact wrench = no go as well. Finally had to cut the nut on BOTH sides and chisel that mofo off. Took about 5 hours.
snapped my 3/4 breaker bar and nearly broke the 36mm socket..
what a joke.
i ended up cutting it off with a dremel. made 2 cuts, one one each side, then beat both sides off with a hammer and chisel.
fuck the kids with air tools..air tools are not regular tools in most peoples garages..they require a decent PSI air compressor as well as the tool itself..
the guy in the vid exerted more force than an impact air anyway..
@thatsmybucket haha just broke my dads 3/4 bar and nearly his draper expert socket lol. word of warning i am using aircraft tools so these are used to high impact and they aint doing it!! oh and he aint got the impact as air does but hey. im gunna cut em both off
you idiots. U could of gotten hurt. I did the same thing with a 36 mm axle nut off a Subaru. my 1/2'' 18 "" breaker bar snapped, it threw the end into my arm. After that episode, I now only use 3/4"" sockets/breaker bar for 30 mm and over sizes. :)
DId you have to unstake the nut to remove hte spindle nut. I am thinking of using an impact wrench but my impact wrench is not strong enough any ideas
I FIGURED IT OUT! took me forever. We bent 2 thick bars before we thought of this. Put the brake pads and everything back on have someone get inside car and hold brake pedal down while you do it. We bent 2 thick bars before we thought of this. came off easy.

this aint that difficult a concept people....head the nut up with a torch. to use an impact wrench to get it off...all that happened here is the nut rusted itself to the shaft...heat and impact work wonders in a situation such as this
@JDM94civic or you buy a better breaker bar not one that bends also i got an impact that can take wheels off of a grader with no effort and its a half inch it probably could have done the job i was always lucky when i did mine because every time i needed to replace the transmission witch was oftin the nut was always easy to take off
@rocket3551 impact wont work unless its rated at 2000lb
ive tried on some. but what will. heat with a welding torch for a shit load until it glows red. then quickly. and i mean quickly freeze it with some freeze off or water hose. do this a couple times and it will come off pretty easily.
i did this after breaker 3 of those breaker bars. luckily autozone took them back
heat it best way

Torque wrenches are meant to accurately apply an amount of torque to a fastener. They are not for the removal of bolts.
