  • Again... this vid is still up.. and the other one of this that had 11 million hits is gone. Completely puzzled as to where it went (and the reason)... clearly cannot be for copyright purposes

  • Why did Bono look and sound like Z from the police academy films? 1:38

  • THIS MIGHT NOT SOUND LIKE MUCH...but...$2...from every MONKEY WRENCH WEBISODES DVD...is going to the FOOD BANK!!!!!!! NO one should DIE from just being hungry every fucking day!!!

  • Now, I need to say something here - make no mistake, I do love this song and it's ultimate purpose & all; but what bothers me is the way they show the poor people somewhere in Ethiopia or Sudan (I assume?) where by no fault of anybody else at all but themselves there are people starving and miserable- cos what this video/song fails to address is the ROOT CAUSES of famine in Africa in general. Why is South Africa not mentioned improvished country? Because the wealth there was created by white man.

  • Me encanta este video, pero la gente de Africa se sigue muriendo de hambre

  • Me encanta este video, pero la gente de Africa se sigue muriendo de hambre...

  • They gathered somewhere in London forwhoknowwhat and decided to do "something" about the hunger,war,disease,fucked-up future and the ever lasting dictator's pockets by singing something to the tune that'd make themselves more or less satisfied or even good-hearted about the f..ing charade they just did. I just don't know what to say any more- I've lived for about 20 years in Africa, I've seen where this cunt's (Sir Geldof's) money has gone to and I don't even want to mention any more about it.

  • @VirtualDude67 Who peed in your lemonade? Geez

  • @GingerEckley818

The Africans, that's who.. and that's bitter taste one of your kind of idiots cannot taste it seems. You can never understand Africa so leave it alone, there's nothing you can contribute to Africa or to africans because you don't understand any of Africa or it's people. So shut the fuck up and don't intervene in things you have no understanding of.

  • @VirtualDude67 i'm sorry if i offended you. i was joking around. you might have plenty of time to argue on the internet but i don't. have a nice life and lighten up. don't try to hurt my feeling cause you're angry and bitter. good bye.

  • @GingerEckley818

Oh you don't have the time? Well you seemed to have time to respond to my last posting, now didn't ya? Let me tell you something- I've lived in Africa for far too long for anybody to hurt my feelings for anything regarding Africa anymore- it's best to think of Africa with no feelings at all, just cold facts and logic. The minute you start being involved emotionaully you've lost it bro, just like this deuchebag "Sir" Geldof and his ilk has lost the plot looong time ago.

  • Bella canzone. Immagini purtroppo ancora attuali. Miliardi spesi in armamenti....perchè l'uomo non impara mai ??

  • I've never seen this video version, a poignant & powerful look @ all aspects of the whole enterprise ...I'm tearing up ' v (

  • what bug is up ur anal ? ur tone is a bit goofy. Bono - a 'Chrisitan' - was nominated for Nobel Peace 3Xs, Bob Geldof - a non-theist once. Good pt about over-population, ideal planet pop. is 1/2 billion we're 12.5X over. Peace 2 u, goof-ball

  • This will soon be the world, 7billion people and the need for food and water will be in first world countries as well.

Many years have past and people are still hungry and more and more people are entering the world, at what point do we take note and change the way we all live?

  • @SuperGravey Unfortunately because so many people are so very ignorant, like with Global Warming , no one will really take note of it until it is too late.... You think we're all screwed now? Just wait! Wait til all the rogue countries have nuclear weapons and there are heat waves in December, and the are no crops to feed anyone... You think it's bad now? I hope I'm dead by then!

  • @beefnotfish good point, and I agree!

  • @SuperGravey Yea exactly ! Global Warming? No! The root of the problem is OVER POPULATION and not one of these brilliant scientist's anywhere on this planet has aknowledged this to any degree. Feed em and fix em... EVERYBODY- 2 KIDS MAXIMUM!!!

  • 1:40...bono rules....

  • 3:00-3:02 awesome, land rover.

  • @LandRoversForLife uk rip

  • May the Goddess bless Her children in Africa this year and the ones yet to come. They need the help more than we do in America.

  • Twenty five years old today! The original and best version.

Feed the world and Merry Christmas!

  • The BEST version in deed. Still fresh in my mind. I can not believe 25 years went by so quickly! Yikes! I look forward to hearing this on the radio each year ... then you know it really is Christmas time.

  • why people think christmas is different to any day? Nothing different happens on chirstmas that can happen at any point in ur life. WHat a simple minded puny race we have become. Stand and fight form brotherhoods instead of christmas

  • Some popular 80s acts not involved in Band Aid -

Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, Human League, OMD,

Queen, Alison Moyet, Kim Wilde, Heaven 17, The Smiths, The Cure, Nik Kershaw, Howard Jones, Kajagoogoo, Limahl, ABC, Blancmange, Echo & The Bunnyman, China Crisis, Madness, A Flock Of Seagulls, Billy Idol, Icicle Works, David Sylvian, Bryan Ferry, Fiction Factory, Level 42, UB40, Colourfield, Feargal Sharkey

It was such a wonderful era for music, we were spolit for choices : )

  • nik kershaw, bryan ferry, howard jones, were at live aid but were not asked to perform on the single human league rejected it cos they said they were too busy queen were also at live aid most of the above acts were at live aid

  • heaven 17 was there when this was done I believe one was there singing

  • These may not have been involved in Band Aid the recording, but certainly some performed at Live Aid. Glenn Gregory of Heaven 17 WAS on the recording. Tears for fears drums were sampled as the intro to the original also!

  • I hope there'll be more of this concerted effort of giving. THere's just a surplus of wealth in many developed countries that will go a long way to help multitudes of starving people in many other places.

  • Wow I remember this like it was yesterday :o)

  • This touched my heart, thank you for sharing.

  • 2:07 "...No rain or rivers flow"...What about the longest river in the world?

  • Absolutely geat vid man!

  • This is one great song for all seasons, the spirit behind this song transcends all time. Thank you.

  • this song is just really good and its really kind that they did this song!!!!!

  • funny how much they have all changed so much,, but i think the award for most changed goes to the love of my young gay teens is boy george damn he looks like uncle festes now so sad

  • 3:10...

is that... Bono.. Sting and george michael?

  • Bob Geldof not only put this project together by calling his famous friends, but he travels to other countries trying to get their governments to pitch in! He actually called out the Canadian prime minister for not following through on their promise and became very controversial for this, Bob Geldof is a great man who has dedicated his life to ending hunger worldwide, this video is just the most prominent thing he has done. Katrina has nothing to do with this issue at all, whatsoever!!!!!

  • at 0:39 that bitch is so ugly

  • lol

  • dude... thats a dude....

  • errr thats boy george!

  • Well, thank you for that. The recent economic times have depleted our food banks in the US. Moreover, the poor cannot afford the healthier foods and therefore must survive on the more fattening, less nutritious fare. However, there are gluttons in this country who are outnumbered by the less well-to-do, but the media doesn't show these people except in extreme cases. Remember Katrina? penis?

  • I am from Louisiana, you obviously know nothing about Katrina, so shut up! wastedyears

  • that comment really shows you know quite a bit

  • i Laughed my fucking ass off at this goofy ass video and song 5/5 for being so funny!!!!!!

  • lol.

So i looked up this song because on my school announcments, they did this music video type thing and re did this song but it was called 'Free the Freshman' and it was soooo funny.

But this video is really sad.

    Great song!!!

    ♥♥♥

  • i remember our 4th grade teacher told us about this song,

and its been what- 8 years, and finally, it shows up on recommendations!

  • gemsdoug

your so wrong its not even funny.

celebrities do donate lots and lots of money to starving children in africa and other charities

they ask for our help because theyère very generous donations arent enough

even they donated all there money it still wouldnt be enough because if you donate to a company like unicef or world vision less than half the money you donste goes to the people you think its going too

  • merry christmas from my brother's keeper maui

  • E' Natale non dimenticatevi degli altri. E non solo a Natale.... Auguri a tutti.

  • Buon Natale a tutti!

  • if all of our actors and singers, donated a few million to there own countries, instead of asking from the public for help, we are all struggling now, its time for them to donate to the poor children in there own countries. Its not just africa now its world wide

  • although most of the world today is developed or starting to develop, there's still a billion people stuck in poverty and continue to fall further and further from the rest of the world.

the key is to somehow have the poor take control of their lives and their countries/communities. although help is always good, no huge governmental projects or money that disappears and never reaches the people will have as much of an effect as those people having thier own voice.

  • it realy makes u relise how lukey we are

  • you're sooo right, drummerboy54...this song makes me sad, too...merry christmas to all of you!!

  • Christmas time, great time!

But let we think about the world!!!

    Pray for the other one!

  • Feed the world...man im hungry...

  • wow i wish i can go to africa to help!i will try..

  • I like it alot! I have and always will love this song and what it stands for.

  • Well, thank you for that. The recent economic times have depleted our food banks in the US. Moreover, the poor cannot afford the healthier foods and therefore must survive on the more fattening, less nutricious fare. However, there are gluttons in this country who are outnumbered by the less well-to-do, but the media doesn't show these people except in extreme cases. Remember Katrina?

  • africa was better off when it was owned by britain. there was infastructure and enogh food - all paid for by the british government

  • Africa was never owned by the Britian. Parts of Africa were colonized by Britain.

Plus, you should read up on how/why there are so much conflicts in Africa then you would realize, perhaps that wasn't a great idea to abitrary split up a continent for your own purposes. AND

"paid for by the british government", seriously dude. Seriously dude you cant be that naive. You think there were just hanging out- with all the gold, oil, cocoa, ivory, diamond and the other minerals and raw commodities.

  • you know it is sad that other countries are poor and in trouble but what people dont think about is that there are soo many homeless and hungry and poor in america. so i personally think that we need to help our own people before we send all of our resources and food and jobs to other countries. like i said i agree that its sad but until we have no more homeless and hungry we should help our own out.

  • USA has a higher percentate of poverty than any other MEDC

  • its verry good is important FEED THE WORLD!!!!

  • this is sad

  • like it a lottttttt

  • u r all saying if there was only more we could do to help well if our governments got off their lazy fat over payed arses then something could easily be done

  • Why do I suddenly wish I was born 10 years early and play in a rock band?

  • Extraordinario video Massi!! 10****. Gracias Clhoe por compartir, Saludos, -Juana-

  • You are a twat. Self-centered prick.

  • I agree, I cant stand the twat.

  • omg the vidoe so sad if u think about britain is really lucky

  • No the weather sucks there..... in Africa the sun is shining all day!

  • omg, that i was so touching, if only there was more we could do to help!

  • "Do They Know It's Christmas" ist mein lieblings Christmaslied.

  • This is definetly the BEST version of this song. I hate the more recent one because it dosn't sound right and half the folk in it can't even sing *cringe*. This is a lovely song =D

  • So sad, I wish I had tons and tons of money to help them but so many things need to change before this will stop for them

  • This is very true. Africans die starving every year and it kills me not being able to anything about it as I am still a kid. We should help with whatever we can. I hope Africans get off to a lucky life later on.

  • Uh flipping hell...im crying

The thing is the second time they did this

    its JUST as bad

    so now...well

Probaly soon after they got the camaras on the kids

    they died ...

  • ich finde es erschreckend dass kinder sterben , weil sie nicht genug zu essen haben und die regierungen so herzlos und korropt zu Werke gehen :(

  • i love this song! i did a solo 4 the frst verse wen i went 2 skl!!! but it also really annoys me wen he says "well 2nute thnk god its them instead of u" i think thts so selfish but amazing song deffo my fav crimbo one! x

  • Yes but it's along the lines of, "Be thankful for what you have, and give to others who don't."

IMHO not to be insensitive but the main cause of African starvation are the corrupt African governments. The leaders of these countries are living high off the hog, so to speak.

  • ok wateva u sayy but i still think it's a bit of a weird lyric 2 throw in!! :D

  • It's calling all of us selfish for not doing something about it earlier. its sarcastic, saying that thats how we all feel. It makes the few people who are actually like that stand up and listen for once, makes them feel incredibly guilty. actually pretty clever if you think about it.

  • it sounds selfish because there trying to make you think...well yes i agree but something should be done and i agree its my favourite christmas song

  • So awesome! I cry every time I hear that......... <3

  • white mans doings.

  • Thank God that the devastating famine in Africa is over. But there are still many people around the world who are starving.

  • Famine is not over in Africa, their still without nutrition and now they are suffering from Aids.

  • I don't understand when you say white man doing, as to referring to where Bono sings "well tonight thank god it's them instead of you, this is how you get people from the United States to give money to starving people. Us Americans do eat too much that's why were all fat.

  • I want to say to you that not only Americans eat too much

  • Well, thank you for that. The recent economic times have depleted our food banks in the US. Moreover, the poor cannot afford the healthier foods and therefore must survive on the more fattening, less nutricious fare. However, there are gluttons in this country who are outnumbered by the less well-to-do, but the media doesn't show these people except in extreme cases. Remember Katrina?

  • Maybe Obama will do better ;)

  • The only part that had always bothered me is when Bono say's "thank God it's them and instead of you".No human would want to wish that on another.Very sad video and this is why i do what i do.

  • it just break my heart to see children dying of hunger

  • Feed the wooorld

  • goood song

  • never mind doing this every year, why can we not do this everyday?

  • I think they do it this time of year because this is the time of year were every ones hart opens that little bit more.

  • oh & if you can list the people, please give me them in order of which they appear in the video. haha. sorry. thanx =]

  • Here they are, as appearing in the video:

    1. Paul Young, 2. Boy George (Culture Club), 3. Phil Collins (playing drums), 5. George Michael, 6. Simon LeBon (Duran Duran), 7. Sting (The Police), 8. Bono (U2)

  • also, can anyone give me a list of who the singers of "band aid" are & what group they come from? thanks<3

  • i love this song. it's my favorite christmas song. it's so touching. =[ makes you think.

  • why can't we do this every year?

  • why do we allow this to go on? what kind of monsters are we?

  • i remember this song well, i loved it. i have never seen this version of the video though. so haunting and incredibly heart wrenching

  • Dear God

  • The corrupt Government's of Africa are to blame for their people's pain and suffering. 25 years of aid and concerts and relief efforts and and absolutely nothing has changed! Countries completely devastated by war have risen again, but why not Africa? Because their leaders are evil and are more interested in their wives travelling first class to London, and their children driving limousines!!! They are accountable to no-one, and the UN is too concerned with the US to bother with them! Shame

  • A lot of the blame has to be placed on Europe for their colonization, which essentially led to the massive corruption, and so today's European leaders should be leading the charge towards fixing Africa.

  • The issue is not blaming anyone or any country. The issue is hunger. Do not point fingers of blame. Every person, no matter their status, should be attempting to help others in need.

  • oh no, i realize this. im just saying, those most responsible should be leading the charge to fix this.

  • I think that's sort of sarcastic. They don't really mean that. But yes, some people do think that it's better the Africans than us. It's sad I know. I strongly disagree that this song should be banned. Bob Geldof and Midge Ure tried to help with this song, it's a good song. It did quite a lot for Africa, just not enough sadly.

  • gives me goosebumps.....

  • And the people care aswell.Look at the state of the people and children there. The children can barely stand up because they have no energy because they have no food.Look at 3:56 , its a horrible sight to look at.A family have lost a child.Try and make a shoe box filled with presents and treats this Chrismas because it will make a child's Christmas AND life much better because you have made a shoe box.And klane86w is right about the government giving things when they don't!Pray for the children!

  • Its so sad !Children if Africa deserve beeter food , better water than dirty water. They are dying from starvation.Pray to God the month BEFORE Christmas and pray the African Children have a Better Christmas with presents instead of a family crying because their child has died. They deserve a better Christmas this year!I do shoe boxes to make a child's life better at Christmas time!Just imagine what their life is like at Christmas time when they have a shoe box filled of treats and presents!Amen.

  • does anyone know who is at 3:05 ??

  • you mean Bowie & jagger??

  • wow, Amen to that, its so sad :(

  • I feel lousy when I watch this. I have to do something to help. My money is other peoples lifes. God bless all the people behind Live Aid and god bless you for uploading this video!!!!

  • what is the picture on 3:55?

  • It's the corpse of a little angel. This is something that should never happen.

  • it's a child's corpse :( :(

  • some of us humans are so nice and give to the poor AWSOME song

  • yes, but they need help. they need somebody to teach these people how to cultivate wheaten, corn,...! and the government should give those things to this poor, and helpless peopel! greetings from austira in europe!

  • we're humans... & let it be it... amen.

  • VEry emotional video..Especaiilly when the C-130 landed in the dirt with the Food and supplies for those people!!!!!

  • What a lot of people don't appreciate is that at the time Bob and Midge had a tough tie getting people to come and sing on the record, and also there weren't that many interested in taking part in Live Aid either. After a while word got around and hey presto it was the biggest concert the world has ever known.

If you weren't old enough to remember Live Aid, you missed something BIG. It was the "Woodstock" of my generation (erm... ask your grandparents)

  • PRACHTIG

  • Help all Childs in the World...PLEASE

  • it isnt funny..

    its just an stupd comment.

  • Christmas time....Jesus!

  • sends shivers down my back looking at those children suffering, im thankfull that its not me and my child having to live like that, all any parent wants is the best for thier child and food and water is just the basic necessity.

  • It's beautiful how so much talent could work together to save lives. This inspired 4 other countries (including mine) to get involved in saving Africa. Furthermore, this song sounds beautiful. Everybody gave it their best, and it shows in more than just the popularity of this song, but by the lives they saved. May this song live on forever and anyone that doesn't like this song sucks. Without this song, people would be dead, that's how good it is!

  • P.S. Fabulous drumming and instrumentals as well as singing. Phil Collins is really is tied for best drummer with Niel Peart. Also great keyboarding guitar playing and bass. Everyone involved gets a 5/5 in my books for this song.

  • Your words are awesome, I 100% agree with you!

  • ya... we should remember on those ppl more often... not just in christmas time. poor kids. :(

  • I don't think they're kids anymore...how old is this video anyway? Nice red hair. They're poor country. They need food and they need to know the true meaning of Christmas. :( I kinda just want to adopt a kid there if I was old enough. Love this song! *v*

  • the song was made in 1984,lets hope the kids have grown up and not died of hunger or of the illnesses that come from hunder and thirst,

  • Yes, my church had a missionaries from other countries. We all did a "missions board" at my school and I got the one for a man from Africa. He spoke broken English and Swahili, which is the language of his people. We had an offering for them all and was introduced to their foods at the dinner. He was nice.

  • that must of been intresting to see what they eat. what is it like there now, do they have enough food and medication etc?

  • ja ok, all those kids, not just those 20 yrs ago. :) kids who deserve better life indeed.

  • AMEN!!!!!!!!!!

  • it's so sad that most of the kids in this video are most likely no longer alive today

  • its so sad

  • As of now they need our help. Why dont we join hand and hand together lets feed them not only this christmas time but as long as they need our help love and care lets feed the world..

  • i agree...wanne join me?

    greets Frank

  • Blessed!! all the English bands for making this Video Merry Christmas!!!!

  • isso nao pode acabar.....

  • yh we r singin this song at school and that child whose bones stick out needs loads of help they r sooo cute children that need help

  • I actually was fortunate enough to study abroad in South Africa, in summer 2005. The poverty and famine that strike these five listed states are still the most prominant; but, there were many just as bad off in SA. Lets keep the talk and voices moving and maybe we can connect with the the right people who care and can afford to help! Happy Holidays!

  • Ive recently been to africa the children out there need help !!

  • ene pesmi bojo vedno aktualne!!! :(

  • It's a great song and I was a child, when this song started, but I hope that this is not the end. There is still, maybe and more than then, hungry people. Feed teh world.

  • I remember when this came out. I was 15 and watching MTV at my Aunt's. I cried for hours and knew I had to do something. I bought a shirt and thought I helped. Now I get involved in bills concerning debt cancellation, financial aid to Lesser Developed countires and vaccinations, antibiotics and Aids treatments. It still isn't enough though, is it? When will everyone else get a clue. We are not free as long as others are imprisoned by poverty and dictatorships.

  • Well, when you think about it, what you're doing IS enough. You're actually taking part in what people around the world SHOULD be engaging in! By you, just one person, doing this, helps numerous people. If everyone took on that attitude, "Oh, I'm just one person, what I'm doing doesn't impact anything around me", we'd never get anywhere with those programs.

  • -the rest of my comment-

Thanks to people like you, that are actually willing to try and make a change, the world does see hope. If only everyone else would get involved as you have. (=
