PLUS - Most of those poxy ass little wind turbines and solar panels e.t.c use more 'dirty energy' to actually manufacture them (including obtaining materials) than they will ever make back in 'clean energy' Gas cars work and are practucal, thats why everyone uses them. First of all, when refering to the Automatic Transmision as standard, that refers to that feature being standard on the DeLorean Tilley built, since that segment of the video discusses differences between Tilley's DeLorean and other DeLorean models. Secondly while John DeLorean did not come before Preston Tucker, he certainly did come before Carl Tilley, although I will admit the language there is somewhat confusing.

The DeLorean did NOT come STANDARD with an automatic transmission. In fact, automatic transmission DeLoreans are quite rare, and coincidentally very undesireable in the collectors market. They were renown for problems. The 5-speed manual was the STANDARD transmission.

Tilley's car was SUPPOSED to be "self generating" with an unlimited range. During its trial run for the media, it supposedly fried a wheel bearing which cut the demonstration short.

More than likely, the car was nearing the end of its charge and Tilley (excuse the pun), pulled the plug so as not to be discovered as a fraud.

One of Tilley's demos was to pull the car over after driving, then show people the voltmeter on the pack going up - those not versed in battery chemistry wouldn't know that the voltage of a battery at rest, especially a flooded lead-acid battery, recovers quite a bit resting after being under load (but there is no change in total energy stored in the cells).

Tilley was trying to produce a perpetual-motion machine. He failed. There are some folks in New York who have actually MADE an electric DeLorean, replacing the engine with batteries and hooking up a Zilla controller to the transmission. (They have yet to solve the HVAC issue, though.) Do a search on YouTube for electric DeLorean and you will see some of their test runs. And yes, it's FAST!!! :-D

The film wanted to focus on what Tilley actually accomplished, which was indisputably, create the first Electric DeLorean, and build a number of electric cars. The fact that he claimed to be able to attach some kind of device to the motor to produce perpetual motion is a completely different topic outside the scope of this film.
