  • I assume a total newbie to cycling would start with no weights? I can't imagine doing all those squats with 30-40 extra lbs... brutal.

  • @TheSnuzzle depends how new you are..if you just started last week, then i think doing these without weights would be good. in my opinion, riding for anything shorter than 2 to 3 years is still a newbie/ beginner, but then itd be good to do them with weights already.

  • @FederRiedelBikes I haven't biked since I was a kid! :) Tried to do a 2mi to the grocery store when I got the bike a few weeks ago and my quads were screaming at me, but I also think I had the seat a bit low. I walk a lot, but biking taxes my legs a lot more.

  • @TheSnuzzle then better not do them with weights ;=)

  • @TheSnuzzle I know what you mean. I crashed my car February 2011. I have to ride 4 mi one way everyday to the bus stop. Was tiring at first but had to get to work so I toughed it out. Lost 20 lbs and what took me 45 mins now takes me 23. It's well worth it.

  • this really work! I tried it I did just 4 days of this work-out and big difference.

  • Peter,

I find these videos very helpful, but I was just wondering- during which phase of your program should I be doing these climbing exercises, and should I be doing them on the same day as, say, a lower body base training workout?

  • these look great! tough but, effective. i probably will need to start with smaller weight.

  • Great videos this guy has a lot of knowledge
