  • just got a Dm Lee Oscar as my first harp. coming in the mail. Tho all the teachers on youtube say a C harp is the way to learn...

  • what harmonica is used for sad songs..?

  • @ugguyan3131 e flat and d flat make some sad songs... But really it's all the musician. Some of the saddest songs on a harp i've ever heard were on a d major. Look up the song 'Digging my potatoes.'

  • This is the kind of stuff I always wanted to play, but every harmonica I've ever gotten my hands on was Tremolo.

  • Is it natural minor?

  • wicked!

  • amazing playing! well im a guitarrist, and today i had the amazing idea of maybe buying an harmonica, i went to guitarcenter and this harmonica seems the best, its 30 dollars etc. Well do you think i should buy it? i would o leanr a new instrumemt, thanks alot

  • Sounds good man! You are a great player.

  • ShhiT The GoDFATHER THEME! I WAS LIKE

    OMG!!!

  • The beginning remember me at the Godfather Theme. It is ? ;)

  • WOW.

    That was amazing.

  • the very first phrase of the video had an almost opera quality to it. nice playing.

  • I love it...

  • First-class, mate! You make perfection exist. By the way, Ronnie or any of you guys know the name of this nice song and/the tabs?

    Thanks :)

  • its a free style

  • absolutely brilliant...dude...i just became ur fan....

  • yeah what he said, tht is great

  • WICKED

  • sweet man...i've always wanted to buy a minor diationic...they've got the darkest but sickest sound...i'm more of a major diatonic kind of guy myself...i dunno what do you think...should i buy 1?....darn things aint cheap...

  • YEAH....Let's get a Klezmer tune or two!

Also, Hatickvah (google it) would sound great.

  • VERY NICE :)

  • Ronnie,

that was a great change of pace

it's a natural fit for Klezmer

  • just a smidge glassy at 1:08, or was that on purpose? Not meant as a criticism, this is as close to musical perfection as I can fathom.

  • on purpose

  • @RonnieShellist it was a tongue trill for effect

  • He does it AGAIN...!!! Just when I thought I had seen him work a blues harp...the man does this INCREDIBLE piece of classical music. All I have left to say are three words...MAR...VEL...OUS...!!!

  • I love your work. There is nothing like the sweet sound of a harmonica. :)

  • i love your video

  • dude your soo cool !!

  • fuck dude, that was sick.

i got your first dvd back in april. i think i'm ready to move on... when are you planing on releasing the next one?

  • I've been focussing more on the blues licks cds (beginner and intermediate/advanced) which will be

out early this coming week. Those should help you move on to the next step. ALso, i'll be releasing a building blues solos and improvising on the harmonica CD very soon.

  • Can anybody helpt me? I can't get this video to play. (A couple from others won't play either but most do play) I tried the utube instructions to un/reinstall the player but this still won't play :(

  • At first that sounded almost like a violin. Nice.

  • I can hear some reminiscences of the great Howard Levy Do you use to listen to him ? Theses harp sound really great in your hands Wonderful playing as usual !

  • I have heard him play on the Bela Fleck cds and love his playing. I've never tried to recreate his sound however. He truly is one of the greatest if not the greatest player alive. Thanks for the compliment.

  • thank you.

  • Dang, I thought for sure that was a chromatic for awhile!!

  • Taking a break from blues eh? This is awesome but I prefer blues. Nice chance to show us your versatility though.

  • Just want to add! Try put some Latin music background like Lee Oskar! It sure sounds nicer!

  • The mutt's nut's man - as always, Respect.

    Sandy Scotland.

  • You play this song with sooo much feeling! I love it. BRAVO man BRAVO!!!!

  • GOSH you're playing so gorgeous you just have no right to say that we are too kind. ))))))

I'm waiting for another posts from you.

  • It's actually very inspiring. Immideatly i had the will to learn playing harp.

    Good job!

  • Thanks everyone! Too kind.

  • classy.

  • Lovely as always my man

  • you are amazing!!!! Love to listen and watch!!! Thanks! :)

  • That's a D Natural Minor Lee Oskar (not to be confused with the D Harmonic Minor Lee Oskar).

I really like both of these alternate tunings. The Melody Maker tuning is also very handy (a combination of Paddy Richter (another favorite) and Country Tuning).

No wonder my harp case keeps getting bigger!

  • Top rate!

  • I gotta get me one of those!

  • Wow! That a arpegio was killin'.

  • Wow, Ronnie, I REALLY liked that. Sounds like the background rifts of a Western movie. Great stuff, man!

    -D

  • first class!

  • Very cool!
