Christopher was probably the most naturally talented American skater to come on the scene in decades. He became seriously addicted to drugs. He skated through this, but eventually drugs put him into an early grave. If only, if only.... he did try to clean up and to rise up from this, and he tried to construct a normal life, but he could never relate to a normal life because he did not know what that was. Drugs claimed him, finally. Sad, sad, sad....
I worked with Chris for about a year, i remember we had so much fun at work. He was a guy that i always thought lived life to the fullest. He always talked about his wife and doughter...... RIP friend.....
He married and had a daughter. She must be 14 now or something. He didn't get to see her much after the divorce.I met him in Calif.years ago.He was so nice and his neighbor was a friend of mine.
HE DON'T LOOK LIKE HERE THAT HE HAS 10 YEARS LEFT, ENDED, ONLY THE MEDIA ATTENTION ENDED, AND f... ALL THE SKATING WORLD WHO IGNORED HIS DEATH AT THIS YEARS NATIONAL AND WORLD TELIVISED CHAMPIONSHIPS
this is incredibly sad,he was an amazing talent,i had the hots for him as a young girl.him and philipe candeloro!i hope chris is now at peace..my thoughts are with his wife and daughter.
A real tragedy. Amazing how he allowed himself to go downhill after 1992 (though the drug use had started way before then.) He was sooooo hot back in the day!
Memories and regret can be a killer itself. Dwelling some much on the "what-if" can literally cause self destruction. That could be a reason for his death too.
I should add that he was diagnosed with bi polar a few years before his death. This condition can start in ones teens or earlier.
Not excusing his drug use, but I believe it was a way of self medicating. I m sure ignorance of his mental condition and the stigma that goes along with it does not help either.
Had no idea he was bipolar. It would explain some of his over the top behaviors, actually. Such a shame she wasn't able to get his life under control. And I agree that ignorance and the stigma about mental illness is a big barrier to people getting help and getting back on their feet.
That might be the catchy lyric to a popular song ("Sinners are much more fun..."), but it's one of the biggest lies. If Christopher had played life straight (like Paul Wylie) and hadn't bought into the drugs and the "party-hearty" lifestyle, odds are extremely good he'd still be around today. Despite his perceived problems he had many genuine admirers and a lot to live for. I'm sure Paul was praying for him BTS - if only he had listened. RIP, Chris. ♥†

He couldnt stand not having the spotlight on him so he took drugs to cope with his attention deficit!

I remember having a crush on him in the early nineties and then he just disappeared from ice skating. Always wondered what happened to him.

Contrary to what they said at the beginning of this, Bowman never won a world title. He won silver in '89 and bronze in '90.
