  • There's something with the camera angle that makes older videos look like if they're going much faster than today. Does anyone know the reason?

  • @Emiins Well, actually they were faster then than today. Doday we have V8's at 18,000rpm and massive front and rear wings meaning less power and more drag. In 2006 the engines were the first 2.4L V8's for F1 which were at 20,000rpm, the areodynamics were more suited to straight line speed and this was Monza - the fastest circuit on the F1 calander.

  • @Emiins Nowadays, the camera sits way too far forward, and maybe too high as well. It makes the car look wider and shorter. In videos like these, however, the car looks longer and thinner. I think that makes it look faster.

  • Awsome Power from the BMW, heard they produced as much as 1.000bhp at Monza and 950 in general. But that was 1 before this.

  • Annnnnnnnnnnd give the position back..

  • in my opinion slipstream r the waves created by car infront of u so the dirver of the f1 car in the back take the advantage of it to go by the flow of that slipstream

  • did he get a penalty i hope he did that rxtard

  • hahah, alonso always on the rev limit when beside the williams and had to cut the chicane to make it work :P

  • this is one of the best videos i've ever seen

  • alonso is a twat !

  • Nick Power!

  • RENAULT POWER

  • V10:))

  • @misle85

    That's a V8

  • XD he cut across the grass

  • another "alonso"

  • Alonso is and always will be a prick

  • haha alonso you and your fucking renault :)

  • wow such a talented driver..................not.............the only overtakes i ever see alonso do is when he drives straight across a corner, cheating fucking prick

  • back then a couple of years back, bmw has brilliant straight line speed.

  • classic alonso. cant pass without cutting the corner

  • @Shevabestfan true ;-]

  • @Shevabestfan Please watch 2005 Japan GP :D

  • Just like yesterday then!!!! (At the end)

  • NIck is the best...

  • @Hamiltoncheater you are scum

  • As far as I remember, the BMW ran lower downforce than most others in this race, hence they were almost impossible to catch on the straights! (You can hear Alonsos rev limiter here so theres little he can do)

Massa tried to pass a BMW for like 10 laps at the main straight, but its top speed was too high, and though they lost time in the corners they were able to gain just the extra 3-4 kmph they needed on the 3 straights! Massa was faster when he finally got past, but good tactics by BMW!

  • Looked liked the Renault needed a big longer top gear

  • Alonso loses it on the breaks and shortcuts the chicane while overtaking, did he get a penalty for this or did he let Heidfeld pass again?

  • he didn't let Heidfeld throught and He didnt get a penalty.

  • this 2006 :( not today :''(

  • Heidfeld has balls of steel! :)

  • @nitroboost8765 no alonso break early

  • @nitroboost8765 Heidfeld lost 3 or 4 positions in few corners on the opening lap

  • what the slipstream ? do we know ?

  • @futnaw slip stream is wen u stay behind the car and it gives u boost to be faster than him it like in nascar drafting

  • @futnaw A sort of aircone is created behind the car infront oy you, so you can put yourself behind him very close, as there is no air that drags your car, and then you are able, if fast enough, to overtake. Here Alonso is in Heidfeld´s slipstream, but not quick enough to put himself infront of the BMW and take the position.

  • @bicho28 does slipstreaming work in normal road cars can i use it to get passed traffic when am going to work every morning?

  • @BrotherYounis hahaahahahahahahahahaha

    thank you

  • @BrotherYounis Not really, unless you are doing pretty high speeds.

Normal cars doesn´t transport away as much air as an F1 car does. Not even close.

  • @GeneralRushHour so im 30 mph and right behind a car the slipstreaming effect wont work?? mannn that sucks.

  • @BrotherYounis Nope, the air will just get push around the car infront of you.

You need to be doing 150mph atleast, and i don´t think you will save much gas from that anyway because of how the car slices through the air.

Compare normal cars driving on the freeway in rain, and then watch a race in rain on youtube from F1.

Notice how much water get´s up into the air, most of it is rain but from the back wing you can see just how much air is getting transported right up in the air.

  • @futnaw when a car is behind another, it creates clean air and less air resistence for the car which is pursuit him (something like that)

  • @M0rthyM0rdoR Actually it´s dirty air. Which means basically very little air so by staying behind a car it creates a little pocket where there is very little air resistance.

It is very good for straights but not in corners, which is the main problem for overtaking in F1 (apart from 2010 with DRS and KERS)

The front wing needs clean air to hit the wing so by staying behind someone through a corner you will lose downforce and understeer.

  • R POWER!

    RENAULT Rs26!!

  • take this spanish prick!

  • Awesome BWM Topspeed, i love Alonsos style of Racing but he couldnt, pass too much Power ;D. And now BMW quits Formula 1, its a shame. greetz from germany ;/

  • it's not HP here its braking.

  • And now BMW...

    Stops being on F1

  • Awesome motor Power! (HP)

  • bichampion power :D

  • BMW power :D

  • This why Renault blown over the last 2 seasons?:|

  • Last seson in second half was very good. Two wins, and some podiums...

  • Great driving from both drivers. F1 cars are meat to look like this. 2009 cars really sucks.

  • HEYYYYY!!!! GIVE THE POSITION BAACK! U SON OF A *whops* ^^ BMW power :D

  • all the way through the straight line and corners BMW was smoking....power lol

  • Great titlle !!! :D

  • Renault Power

  • bmw beats every single renault product in the consumer market... not so much the f1 one world though =(

  • lol I love the title

  • he should have given the position back. just shows hes a cheat!!!!!!

  • You know he may have given it back down into the next chicane (Where i'd do it, least time loss), there isn't enough to see if he does or not, besides which other drivers have done similar thing there, it's a breeding ground for dirty driving. Drivers have been pushed off the track down there in the last few years.

  • pfff. renault was the most powerful engine in 2005 and 2006

  • Heidfeld.

  • wow.... who was that???? kubica or heidfeld?

  • That was Heidfield. Kubica ran higher

  • nothing but power. but remember: power is nothing without control. xD

  • he got infront of the BMW before first chicane

  • but then he cut it and had to give the position back

  • no, you are wrong, because he have win the position before he get off the track, and he cuts de chickane. Maybe, he cannot be amonested because in the last race, Michael did the same in hungary with de la rosa...

  • well, he only gained the place because he cut the chicane.

the thing is: if he had braked as early as he needed to to get through the chicane, he would not have won the place.

In my opinion, this was gaining an advantage by cutting the chicane, which means he would have had to give the place back.

but however, this happened 3 years ago, so it doesn't matter :P

  • you said what i wanted to say... great job!

  • You chaps are aware of aero setups, right? Alonso is much faster than the BMW through the corners; watch at the 2nd Lesmo, Ascari (although the BMW makes a slight mistake here) and the Parabolica (where Alonso actually backs off and then gets back on the power and is up with the BMW pretty quick), but on the straights, with more downforce than the BMW, his topend is less than that of the BMW, so as soon as he moves alongside, he tops out. The BMW is fast, but it's mainly downforce effect here.

  • lol i love how he cus the corner to get past the Williams at the end

that is so what i would do in rFactor lol

  • same

  • go bmw ............. and win some races

  • alonso was penalised?

  • no he was not penalized he didn't deserve to be. Anyways he just abandoned a few laps later (engine breakdown)...

  • well, he cut the first chicane(I know it was because he didn't brake where he was supossed to do it) and that's why he overtook the BMW...

  • How didn't he deserve to be penalised? He completely cut the chicane at turn one to overtake the BMW

  • I think it's because he lost the advantage he would have gained if the BMW didn't over take him straight afterwards

  • he would get penalized if he stayed to the end of the race, but after a few laps he's engine blew out

  • alonso cut track.renault never can pass BMW on straight way..BMW Power forewa!!

  • ur joking right?

  • No!! Cheap french crap! I would much prefer a BMW

  • as would i... but renault is not crap

  • Renault isnt crap but spyker is!!

  • i have no arguement there ^_^

  • Thats a renault, not a BMW.

  • YES...but cant you see that the French piece of shit can not pass the German BMW...hehe

    J/k...renault are great in F1
