  • Good song, but they sound like shit in this video.

  • The funny thing about this video is it shows why the punk movement was soooo important to the evolution of music. This is friggin' awful and I love Neil. Pretentious, sloppy, unprofessional wanking is what it is. Nash and Crosby can't hit the notes at the beginning and sound horrible. The "jam" is unfocused and meandering. Thank god Neil heard what the punks were saying and got his act together in the late 70's.

  • @billinhp Punk was fucking shit. The only reason this is bad is because they were all fucked on coke. Take a look at Almost Cut My Hair from this very same gig - it's fantastic.

  • This kinda sucked. You could tell Young and Stills were super tired of each other. Stills is definitely the better guitarist, at least technically. By looking at him, no one can deny he's also a big douche bag though. That's pretty much the nature of coke-heads. They love feeling better than everyone. Btw, Nash looks like he's tripping major balls.

  • Mitään en oo ottanu...

  • This is unusual. I like the energy but it really sounds like Nash and all of them actually are having trouble singing here. It may be that the set up that day didn't allow them to hear themselves or each other very well..

  • Youtube the CSN +Y 10/4/73 show and you can see the same type of behavior from neil; and my comment. He just comes in and HIJACKS the show with 2 great songs from TTN. And if you listen closely, stills asks him for a verse on human highway, then neil sings over him. In Neils autobiography (mcDonough), he claims he never goaded stills, but you see otherwise here. He musta had alot of animosity towards Stills around this time.

  • i know this is art and this isn't a comment on the performance. BUT, anyone else notice the way shakey instigates stills around the 12:00 mark? Reminds me of me and my brothers picking on each other. THe look on Neils face is classic. And the way stills jumps around hitting "Rock Star" poses; COCAINE!! And what's with him hitting the drums?? I still love Stills and even Fat Crosby.

  • Still's and Young have always had a 'love - hate' relationship just like brothers. There probably never was two guitarists that created the magic that they have when they were 'on'. They just feed off of each other with such intensity it's surreal. This is 1974 and Neil is one of the few from this era who's still doing it today with the same intensity and relevance in 2012. He had his critics back in the day but time has proven him to be one of the most important figures music of his generation

  • Anybody who criticizes Neil's guitar playing abilities don't know what their talking about. I f you had seen him with Crazy Horse during this period maybe you would know. This was a 'jam' situation and he was waiting to feed off of Still's. They had plenty of magic moments together on stage. However, there has to be a 'groove' and it just didn't happen during this song. As far as Duane Almans comments, it seems like Neil can shred him to pieces these day's aye? I doubt if he ever said that.

  • 12:57 far out...

  • I was at this gig

  • The band were such a train wreck by this time. Frankly, the boards from this show would've sucked so band who would have even listen to them. From reading the interviews, I do know that still hated this tour. Nash hated it. Young hated it. Crosby needed a pay check.

  • I was just being born !

  • sounds like they've lost their voices! Great fun though, and the groove is rockin'.

  • Yep ! evidence there was a 1974, damn if I remember . . .

  • great stuff....the party after must have been good lol

  • The whole band was freaking wired.

  • i love this! thank you so much!

  • Nash looks scary, all hair and bones. Crosby, pills, hash and bones. Still love this stuff and you can dig it on Four Way Street.

  • Boy, I gotta say that this really sucks! However, given he technology at the time I'm sure that it was no friend of the band. Hopefully the monitors were not working and that's why this is so bad.

  • would of been nice if Crosbys mci was turn on

  • This is your vocal chords on drugs.

  • nash's mic is too loud lol the coke got the best of him that night for sure.

  • As usual, when Neil Young steps up to the plate, things really start to cook!! Fucking genius musician, every note wrenched out of that old black Les paul is golden...

  • @cottageorgan You gotta be kidding...Neil Young anno 1974 sounds like a kid having problems hitting just one string when trying to play a solo...rubbish playing. Stills was always the better guitarplayer both in Buffalo Springfield and C/S/N&Y! But he obviously ruined himself on drugs and drink!

  • @MB280E Ah well, each to their own. I agree, Stills was, and probably still is a great musician and singer who never really got the dues he deserved, I just prefer Neil's playing and songwriting, that's all. Different strokes etc...PS. I'm a huge Stills fan.

  • @MB280E WERE YOU BORN AN IDIOT OR ARE YOU SELF MADE?

  • @myron2d Go to your mum kid!

  • Too many guitars, someone turn Graham Nash's mic down please he's way off, apart from that it's quite a glorious mess, at times a bit lost but when it comes together it's quite a holy racket...oh no here comes Graham again, ouchh!!

  • like when they lock in at about 6:00 great stuff!

  • At 12.50 i think Stills is giving the drummer a greazy.......LOL!

  • Stills was so sexy in this period, and what a nice ass!. Can't stop looking at the back view.

  • I need an awesome button !!!

  • Real, raw, and right on! Miss this stuff and the feel of those days!

  • I've seen these guys several times & they were usually so perfect. This is a hot mess, but it sure looks like they're having a good time!

  • This was \ is a product of the era. Love it or hate it, it is and was real.

  • holy, high on cocaine. Crosby looks like a stoned out wizard of oz lion. Stills, gacked, police shirt, walks away from the wah-wah pedal.....and takes over on percussion. nice. Nash grabs a drum stick. it's chaos. THEN NASH GRABS THE COWBELL.

  • @captam666

    More cowbell

  • I think this is the best CSNY jam I've ever seen

  • I had only watched this once quick and saw Stills do something cool (2:40 I think) and took a pop shot at Young who was never a great lead player.(Duane Allman once quoted, "that dude should stick to playing rhthym". ) I had only seen his lead at 3:05 which was weak. Later at 6:40 he gets better with a Santana type lead. Not the scale he uses but the style minus any flamenco stuff. In the end it wasnt their best but getting lost in a jam with your friends is the best feeling on earth!

  • this is great... but the peruvian marching powder is a helluva drug!

  • Far fucking out!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Stills should have given Young guitar lessons

  • @finfranko2 His playing is more interesting than Stills here, by far!

  • The guys were having fun, something that doesn't come easy in the music industry. Give me the heaven of Young and Stills crazy jammin over the perfection of a studio recording any day.

  • Comment removed

  • they can't be proud of it..

  • happy trip @ 1:52

  • wowwwww.....I'm speechless...pure rock n roll....happy to live in this generation

  • Nash wandering around probably stoned out of his mind holding a cow bell at one point classic

  • Its not their best performance is it? but hey, everyone is entitled to an off day. Most of the time they were excellent!

  • Still's firebird fucking rules.

  • Never heard the guys out of tune before... and still pure Rock n Roll. Cheers¡¡¡¡

  • The 5 dislikes didn't stick around for Questions, obviously.

  • What a great video .

  • Stills & Young on stage....this is why Buffalo Springfield kicked ass :)

  • Comment removed

  • hanno massacrato un capolavoro qui carichi di acido lisergico

  • a gaggle of drug addled musicians!

  • wow.....speech less...first class Rock n roll

  • Far out man! Reminds me of my dopey fun days...yeah!

  • Wankfest grand prix ... just coced up speed rock ... lame

  • Talk about high on cocain. Hah.

  • And as far as that goes, everyone of our generation was gettin f**cked up one way or another in 1974. CSNY was at the forefront of a lot of extremities. Slack cut.

  • For harmony it only takes one vocalist to throw the whole thing off.... Crosby sounds like he's shouting instead of singing. Stills is great on the guitar, Big Daddy is jumping and jamming and has those long legs goin and loving it and I'm always lovin watchin him and his energy. We've all heard them better but even less than their best is pretty outrageous. Thanks for the post!

  • @kathleenb1947 do you have a clue of what a PA could sound like those days? You definitely couldn't play loud and sing high pitched harmonies in tune (it's a miracle they kept their voices until now). anyway those guys never were great electric musicians... Seeing them playing acoustic for the whole show in 93 was Heaven on Earth!!!!

  • @swingmanu Great input.... thanks! Wouldn't have a clue about PA systems in those days or these. Excellent point! They were a movement, weren't they? The politics, the energy, the talent. My generation was blessed with so much musical genius! Glad you got to see them in a reunion effort and experience greatness in person.... a little peace of Heaven! Just listen to those guitars whine! Lovin it!

  • sounds like Manic Miner loading on my old ZX Spectrum....

  • Dude cocain.....?lol.....i bet all the big boys were in class

  • Appalling Wembley performance ..This is what Cocaine chopped with Borax does to a performance...Why NOT to take Band Chemicals! These guys all had nose bleeds before going onstage. Can you blame Young for walking out of tours with Stills in it?

  • yes the vocals are sub par but we all know they have excellent vocals and neil iss shredding on that guitar

  • lol. i have to be honest. their vocals here are terrible. an excellent band all the same though.

  • Jam d'enfer au concert historique de Wembley La partie instrumentale est entrée dans la légende CSNY tel un ouragan lors de la tournée 1974 Nixon venait d'en être victime quelques semaines plus tôt Walk on

  • i can only imagine there was a giant mountain of cocaine backstage.

  • @mwells219 Or maybe they are just riding on pure talent..or mixture of both :-)

  • @mwells219 oh the humanity!!

  • @mwells219 Not anymore.

  • @mwells219 i bored with people that combines EVERY FUCKING SIGN OF JOY WITH DRUGS.

  • Yikes, I think Graham couldn't hear himself during the "Questions" portion. Ouch.

  • Damn it cuts off like that!

  • I was at Wembley in '74 and witnessed this gig. I seem to recall that the Band, Joni Mitchell & the LA Express together with Jessie Collin Young supported. I feel old......

  • Neil Young influence

  • Harsh words on this page. Maybe u should all take a chill pill since this is close to heaven as it gets.

  • @tonyrosam

    HELL YEAAAH!!!!!

  • @tonyrosam Ain't no heaven in a cocaine addled performance. One sole talent here, and his name is Neil Young. They lost Shit loads of money on this tour ;) With his pittance, Neil bought a car, and called it Wembley

  • @tonyrosam well said!

  • Sounds like they were more concerned with rocking out than getting a tight harmony. haha

  • This is what happens when you get a Canadian, and Englishman, a Los Angeleno, a Texan and several other tribal hippies on stage with loud instruments. Vibe merchants, the lot of them.

  • Flyface rules!!!!!

  • Stephen Stills in a cop shirt, hoarsely spitting out lyrics: presaging Joe Strummer by a few years?

  • the Coked-out version

  • This is the boys PEAKING, great stuff

  • just plug in the speakers and enjoy it! This is awesome!

  • wow is this hack.

  • Sgt. Stills, Joe Lala, Flyface and The Coked out Cowardly Lion.....and The Off Key Bearded Lady to boot...Cocaine is a hell of a drug!!!! I think even Tim Drummond is wondering what the fuck hes doing up there!

  • Not their best.

  • 15分間、スティブンスティルス“CARRY ON ”で浮遊!!!~~~GREATEST STILLS!

  • Still rocks my night!!

  • hum... Manu Catché on bongos?

  • Yeah.

    =

    TLC

  • 4 Way Street is one of the best live albums ever. Neil Young kicked some major ass.

  • i thought i only saw shit in the can - wow i found it on you tube

  • Neil's old black is still the loudest!!

  • Great vocals in the studio.. not so much live.

  • My favorite group of all time, but this live performance is a disaster.

The board operator must have been the most coked-out in the arena.

  • SUPER coked up version!

  • i was there 2 cal sunshine. the band and j mitchell

  • "Carry on, LOVE is coming to US ALL"!!~Peace~ "Uno Mundo" (One World) "JahLove"

  • For the first two minutes of this video I thought it was just CSN on stage. Good ol' Neil was just hiding in the back ground, probably doing a line or two. Seriously, he's one of the very best. If you've never seen him live I suggest you put that on your bucket list.

  • this is great! a loud more so electric version, never seen this before, love it!

  • stoned and cocained way past pitiful.

the very best version of this song is on the 4 way street album.

one of the best jams ever recorded. inspired.

put on the headphones and get transported.

  • does any one have a tab or a score from that sick riff crosby and stills plays on 0:55 , i'm pretty sure it's not the one the acoustic guitar does on the record

  • Oh, I'm just a tone-deaf drummer. That means that I'm a guy who just hangs out with musicians!

  • @stevedrums Hey Steve is that Joe Lala on percussion?

  • @darbygrey It is! And Russ Kunkel on drums.

  • sloppy and awesome...and I love all the comments by "musicians" claiming it is off-key...singing a different note is not "off-key"....

  • @profadrock It's one thing to stand behind our favorite bands and artists and another to deny when they are off. This version is off and off badly. Crosby and Nash later lamented the fact that these large stadiums were unforgiving in their attempts to sing harmony. Musically it's intersting. Vocally, it's....off.

  • @stevedrums ...actually, the guitars are a little out of tune, too...LOL

  • I cannot help but believe this version would have benefitted greatly by the boys settling the issue of key in advance of going on stage. Still, a great post--thank you.

  • sloppy as hell and stoned to shit lol. Still gotta like it somewhat though, CSNY is tough to find on video and they are rockin hard here.

  • Why didn't NEIL sing?

  • this is exactly the polar opposite of the mellow, flowerpower, acoustic vibe that defined the 60's.

  • horribly stooooooned!!

  • Graham Nash looks like a fan that has snuck on stage.

  • Damn, this is really fucking good, and I'm not even a big CSNY fan.

  • graham nash is off key...bloody awful...but otherwise, hellyeah...

  • niiice!!!!!!!!!!!!
