All the modern pedestrian crossings make those sounds on the WALK signal in Australia. There are a couple of ones that you wave your hand in front of the sensor to trip the crossing off.

the noise comes from the the arrow.
hold/press/push till it got a different sound when is green. it sounds sqweeky. try it
