i was on my way to San Antonio Texas in the 14 of Feb. when the inner front drive tire blew on a rig, i pulled in right behind him and asked if he was OK. said he was, but i still helped him as his spotter with my hazzards on to help him deleaver his load of which was 20 miles down I-35. i plan on being a trucker anyway
Why did he not at least chain the stupid thing up so he would not do more damage to not only the road which a smokey just might write his ass up for but to take the wear and tear off the fricking hub? Yeah it's not "MY" truck but don't drivers think that keeping the equipment in better shape might get a raise down the road instead of throwing the bosses money on it?
He had to be "crabbing" or "doglegging" that trailer for a good while before he stopped. He should have noticed that in his right mirror! Also there should have been some obvious noise, vibration, instability, handling problems, smells, etc.
Also, if he got out of the truck, he should have done a complete walkaround to check for obvious problems, tiedowns, tarps, etc.
The trailer being a spread-axle, missing a complete pair of duals is REALLY a disaster looking for a place to happen!

I remember days like this when I was a tyre fitter.....it was difficult to get jack under the axle because the rim was sitting at ground level......the damaged rims were a hazard to remove....and, usually, the truck diver would be an absolute jerk through the whole proceedure..

Doing a walk-around takes a couple minutes to spot obvious things, and that particular problem is kinda noticeable.
You'd notice that just fueling up. Put one nozzle in the tank, glance back. Go over, put the other nozzle in the other tank, glance back. That's all it would have taken.

From the looks of it, he blew one, didn't notice, then blew the second. Then he continues to drive on it. That is stupid as it's putting insane pressure on the axle and probably warping/breaking parts underneath.
If he went too far, he cost his company a couple grand, easy.
Plus the first chicken house he come across will put him and the trailer out of service, with the violations going onto his own record and that of the company, along with the associated fines.

I was at a Petrol just the other day and saw a driver...pulling a trailer with a staggered axle like the one in this video (not sure what they are actually called). He made a right turn into the fuel pump area and one of his trailer tires....hub and all....popped right off the trailer and rolled right into the grass. First time i ever saw a tire and hub come off together. He didn't even notice it....but i told him. He had a Canadian tag on his truck (Quebec).

This guy was not paying attention, and could've really hurt some one. The first thing you do when you blow a tire, is pull over. There are service trucks all over the country, from many different companies, that come out to you, wherever you are, to replace tires. I drive truck, I've dealt with it. There is no excuse for this at all.

I remember days like this when I was a tyre fitter.....it was difficult to get jack under the axle because the rim was sitting at ground level......the damaged rims were a hazard to remove....and, usually, the truck diver would be an absolute jerk through the whole proceedure..
I certainly do not miss those days!

Yes, we think he would go through all 18 wheels every time he stops in a truck stop.
Doing a walk-around takes a couple minutes to spot obvious things, and that particular problem is kinda noticeable.
You'd notice that just fueling up. Put one nozzle in the tank, glance back. Go over, put the other nozzle in the other tank, glance back. That's all it would have taken.
Besides a check only taking a minute, WE ARE SUPPOSED TO DO LOAD CHECKS!

@offsuckmydickfukk the point is even if the tire blew while he was rolling he should have been paying enough attention to notice the pieces of tire flying off. but not only that but one of those tires blowing is pretty loud. this driver has ran with a blown tire so long it has destroyed the tire next to it. so instead of having one $160.00-$200.00 tire to replace, he now has 2. plus the rims which he has ruined by running on them for long distances.

@offsuckmydickfukk It's not the blown tire hes talking about. It's the shredded rims ($200 wasted in rims as they are unusable now) plus the $700 in new tires. From the looks of it, he blew one, didn't notice, then blew the second. Then he continues to drive on it. That is stupid as it's putting insane pressure on the axle and probably warping/breaking parts underneath.
If he went too far, he cost his company a couple grand, easy.

I was at a Petrol just the other day and saw a driver...pulling a trailer with a staggered axle like the one in this video (not sure what they are actually called). He made a right turn into the fuel pump area and one of his trailer tires....hub and all....popped right off the trailer and rolled right into the grass. First time i ever saw a tire and hub come off together. He didn't even notice it....but i told him. He had a Canadian tag on his truck (Quebec).
