I love Kate. In fact, my daughter, Kate used to sing this song when she could barely talk. She called it "Skeekapoosh". But I digress. Doesn't anyone know what "live" means? It does NOT mean lip-synched. Okay? Are we clear on this? Whether or not she is in person, she is not making "live" music. We musicians tend to search out live performance, not studio dubbed. To see a great example of Kate performing a "live" song, one need look no further than "Kashka From Bagdad" on "Ask Aspel". Perfect.

I have the sheet music to this song. Unfortunately, it is written in a 3 flat note key, with extra flats and naturals along the way to a 12/8 time signature, so unless you're a pro, it's a little difficult to play acurately!

When Kate Bush recorded the sequence, she actually asked Collaro (the producer of this stupid show dating from the 70's) to record it a second time because she was not satisfied with the firt version. He reluctantly accepted, although he wouldn't, normally have done it and she could perform a second time. It seems that he was touched by her charisma...

I know Babooshka was released in 1980 (although I have a demo version from the mid-70's) but the show where she performed it was created in the 70's.

This is great!! I love Kate Bush...Too bad her last 2 disc cd album wasn't as good as her older stuff. The 1st cd sucked..she sang about her washing machine...couldn't stand it...the 2nd cd was better...It wasn't really promoted though...

I'm not saying you should like Aeriel, each to their own (I thought it was brilliant) but the "she sang about her washing machine" is wrong and needs correction. The song is about an old woman whose husband has died. She's puttering around, gathering up his clothes, and starts reminiscing to the rhythm of the washing machine. It's very sad and very deep, and it's no more about a washing machine than "Wuthering Heights" is about the window Cathy's looking through. Just so you know.

I actually think that Aerial is probably (along with Hounds of Love) the best thing she has ever done! I admit it was difficult to listen to at first, especially side 1, as it wasn't what I expected. But, the more I listened, the more I loved it! Pure genius. She excels in all genres she puts her hands to and is so multi faceted. Wish she made more albums though. Had a dream the other night that she had a new album out next year, so here's hoping!!

Listen. There arent enough artists of this quality singing about their washing machines how it is. Your giving Kate the thumbs down isnt going to encourage more artists to take up that difficult genre that is the "Washing Machine" if you keep this up. Damn. Irks me. First great CD we have had about a washing machine and still some nubcake complains.

Robby - this performance is actually from the French "Collaro Show", not Champ-Elysees. It's marked wrong on the DVD and there's some confusion floating around about it on the net as well. It used to be on youtube but has since been deleted, so thanks for for bringing it back!
