  • @girleffect Nike Foundation? You mean Nike the sports company that uses child labor? The country that PUT that girl into poverty? The country that KEEPS HER IN POVERTY? Am I wrong? Then correct me.

  • @WolfKissesStudios Nike uses labor from girls working in factories in Asia. Were it not for companies like Nike, those factory girls would not have factory jobs and be in worse poverty than they are already in. Read up on this program before you accuse anyone.

  • @AnonymousJonny How old are those girls? How much are they paid? How are they treated in the factories? Are you willing to provide videos of the conditions in these factories? ACTUAL videos? Answer me that.

  • @WolfKissesStudios Can you prove to me that they do in fact use child labor? Did you visit the web site of this organization and really try to figure out what they're about? Have you read their book? It does not look like you have really looked into this, because if you have, you would be looking at the bigger picture. Would you rather work or not work? Or would you complain about your age or your disabilities? Contribute to your family's income or sleep in a mud hut?

  • Imagine a girl in poverty. NO SRSLy!!

Tell her to take out a loan for a cow.

After a couple months, the cow dies of disease.

Revenue from the cow doesn't cover the loan, and the bank is not sympathetic.

Shit happens. Don't ask people who have nothing to fall back on to take these kinds of risks. If you want education, you must first focus on economy. Economy has come first in all developed countries. Education comes from parents until basic needs are taken care of.

  • "The Slippery Slope is a fallacy in which a person asserts that some event must inevitably follow from another without any argument for the inevitability of the event in question. In most cases, there are a series of steps or gradations between one event and the one in question and no reason is given as to why the intervening steps or gradations will simply be bypassed."

I love the concept of empowering girls and alleviating poverty and the problems it entails, but there are some steps missing.

  • But why just girls?

  • @BringYerOwnBomb because this particular org. is targeting girls since they are the poorest of the poor around the world. especially single mothers.

and there is a saying that if you educate a girl you educate a village, since that girl will be able to provide for her children and send them to school as fell and the children will do the same for their children and so on.

they think that targeting girls who usual are not educated and do not contribute, would help bring families out of poverty.

  • @oriolesfab61 i am muslim and i have many rights!! what you are talking about is afghanistan..

  • Who knows the name of that song?

  • This assumes that by changing one person's life the rest of society will see the advancement that person can make a make changes for the remainder of society. But no time in history has this ever shown to be true. look at the US in the way the blacks were treated following the end of the Civil War. Everyone hoped that if the blacks became productive members of society then the whites would accept them as equals, but not until the US government enforced laws any real change occurred.

  • my geo. class watched this

  • Islamic nations do not give women rights.

  • sounds good butt ain´t a little naive?

  • @combatas *but, stupid keyboard

  • these negative comments upset me this is a non profit that is trying to make the world a better place

  • My aunt has an organization called the circle of Sisterhood wich is just like this ad my school has raised 150 dollars wich helps 3 girls.

  • All those girls will be raped, murdered, robbed, or bankrupt by the time her cow makes a profit.

  • how do you make these videos?

  • @starjane19 Hi, there! It was created by the Nike Foundation, produced by Wieden+Kennedy Portland & directed by Man vs. Magnet, in association with the production company Curious Pictures. The music in the video is by Elias Arts. Hope this helps!

  • Why did VieraLuck delete all her videos?

  • this is retarded..u can do the same with a boy..

  • @dominicwalli get an education

  • @dominicwalli yes but throuout the majority of the developing world girls are considered less importanr than boys (ex. thats why no one adopts boys from china. they dont want girls so they get rid of them. sometimes they are even killed at birth.) in some middle eastern places women are not allowed to go out without their husbands or must cover their face. even in america, in some careers women are paid less than men.

...so no, you cant do the same with a boy. srry to be rude.

  • Key word here Is IMAGINE

  • SKYRIM!

  • ha take that boys

  • arghhh I need to know the name of this song

  • I know this is totally un-related to this video, but the music is AMAZING. ;D What's the song called? ;D

  • this is obviously under control, for people who don't know this, specific youtubes either block or create responses to protect their real agenda. This is about GARDASIL AND BIRTH CONTROL.. AGENDA 21 IS A VERY REAL ISSUE, JUST LIKE CONGRESS WHO VOTED IN USING AMERICAN PEOPLE TO BE EXPERIMENTED ON FOR CHEMTRIALS AND OTHER TOXIC POISONS. REDUCTION OF THE POPULATION IS REAL, HEPB FOR CHILDREN IS A TRUE PEDOPHILE AGENDA...AND IF YOU WANT TO MAKE A FILM, TELL THE TRUTH

  • this month along hundred of childrens bodies found in Vancouver, BC by the church killing them for years in genocide, and Spain 300 thousand babies sold by Catholic ..child sexual abuse by adults cause the pedophile lobby to force HEP B...now Gardasil and Obama wants Anthax injected in our kids..this is BLOOD LIBEL ask this: are your politicians kids being sterilized and injected to be killed or permanently sterilized and damaged for future cancer ? NO SO WHY WOULD YOU ALLOW THIS TO YOUR KIDS ?

  • @bethwall Women are traded like commodity, good only for cleaning and popping babies when they can ill afford a family in the first place. Opportunities are given to men because women have no value and are instead a drain on resources. Why don't you try living in a third world country first before you comment about things you know nothing about? Why don't you get a grip or, better yet, get a life and let the people who are trying to do something positive, no matter how small, do it?

  • Oh yeah girls are just like ferrel cats humping for sex before age 12, pregnant and child brides at 15, then they become whores and get HIV so get them young, stick Gardsil in them ( of course, as they say a baby will kill them in childbirth but no one will show you the deaths and permanent injuries of Gardasil and cancers and sterilizing them to support Agenda 21-depopulation this is what all the PINK DEATH AND GIRLEFFECT IT PEOPLE SO WAKE UP THIS IS GENOCIDE TALKING !!

  • good luck with this in islamic countries, Libya has announced it will be a sharia government. A whole new population of women and girls viewed officially as property

  • @rrich76 ... You are a liar and a deceiver. Islam gives women the best rights. Shariah is the best legal system.

    .

Muslims value our women as the mothers, daughters, sisters, and citizens of society. On the other hand your culture views women as sexual objects and brainwashes them with feminist propaganda.

  • And to say otherwise would be quite ignorant as well as arrogant.

  • This makes no sense I mean I know what your point is but nothing that you say would change anything that dramatically, sorry.

  • Isn't this sort of thing exactly what the Occupy Wall Street folks are protesting against?

The rest of the story (according to them) goes: girl buys cows from all over the country, creates a multi-national conglomerate, gets rich, gets greedy, starts overcharging for the cow milk after running everyone else out of business, starves the people who got her there, destroys the environment and is the root of all evil?

    Just saying.

  • @Robing6 Why you brought occupy into this is a mind boggling thought process to me.

  • lol, another stupid lib video on how to end AIDS, war and starvation... You have no clue on how to solve the world its problems.

  • @TheMedievalMan I would really encourage you to check out our website - particularly the "More Resources" section ( girleffect . org / learn / more-resources). The Girl Effect isn't just a video... it's a movement. It's social change in action. And there are years of proven research backing its claims. Check it out... Maybe we'll surprise you.

  • omg this is ridiculous..the girl effect??are u reallly serious??this stupid video makes no sense, cause u can make a boy do the same...wait lets call it the boy effect, lets get him off poverty, make him study at harvard, give him a nice job..omfg this is bs,this femmenist propaganda is stupid, invest more in girls?i dident even knew that they were investments on genders,in my country a girl have the same rights than a boy,and thats ofcourse not usa.

  • @dominicwalli But the Girl Effect isn't just about girls - it's about boys too! Indeed, better lives for girls mean better lives for everyone in their communities, including their brothers, fathers, future husbands and future sons. When you improve a girl’s life through education, health and opportunity, these changes have a positive ripple effect. As an educated mother, an active citizen and a prepared employee, she is the most influential force in her community to break the cycle of poverty.

  • @girleffect no,it isnt right, giving all the money and jobs to the girls will only rise crime, because like 80% of the criminals in the streets are guys, and if theres less guys with jobs(since more girls will have more jobsO_O)and...i think thats wrong..u are just putting girls in a pedestal.....a rich woman is more egocentric and self centered than a rich man,i believe this to b a fact, because i take my uncle and my aunt as examples.my aunt is like 3 times richer and shes 10 times more cheap.

  • I'd rather invest in prostitutes, isn't that like the same thing?

  • "Invest in a girl and she will do the rest"....

    sounds...fun

  • The world is not a mess, in fact it is doing better than ever.

we no longer live on a bipolar world led by two powers or a colonial world led by one continent but rather on a multipolar world of fascinating developing nations.

this culture of blame and shame towards the ones that have financial ressources must end, a more positive aproach must be taken to enthusiast the donor, make him feel he is doing something out of sincerity not guilt.

  • @elsebasM I happen to agree with you, except for the positive culture bit. Negativity stirs emotions. Negativity will force people into giving more money. This leeches off negative emotions, when in fact we live like kings compared to 30, 100, 250, 500 or 1000 years ago! The rights of Women have vastly, vastly increased. Long may this upward trend continue!

  • If you want to make a difference, donate $25 or more to kiva.org a person who is given a microloan is much more likely to make something of it. And 98% of the time you get your money back, which you can re donate or withdraw. make a difference with just $25.

  • my school club is going to help the girl effect, any ideas on how to raise the money? original ideas! not bake sale, dances, or normal stuff, something people dont think of when they think of raising money.

  • @marigold1525 How exciting! Email me at info @ girleffect . org and we can brainstorm - I'd love to hear more about your club!

  • @watevatube It is a fact that not every boy in china will have a wife, thats how bad it is. They have the one child policy so boys are believed to be harder workers and will make sure there parents are taking care of. This is a problem esepcially in rural areas...

  • @watevatube Girls get way less then poor boys. Women have absolutly no rights in the poor countries all they are allowed to do is cook, clean, give birth to kids, take care of kids, take care of husbands parents while the men go out and work and rule the household. The men are more educated than the females so the women wind up believing they have no rights or say in anything. Yes there are poor boys and girls but girls are in the most danger. China has more boys than girls, boys are preferable.

  • This video is inspiring.

  • So true

  • Hahah and I'm sure it's just that easy, somebody has been smoking something

  • you forgot to show the SIDE EFFECTS; oh wait, that wouldn't help u mint money, MY BAD :D

  • OMG my friend fb messaged me telling me to watch it is was so cool!!

  • hi,

we're doing a group project for school on gender discrimination and we were wondering how we could take action or invest in a girl??? please reply to us

  • @ieva901 Shoot us an email at info @ girleffect . org - let's chat! Our website - girleffect . org is a great place to start for ideas, too!

  • Could you not do the same with a boy?

  • @girleffect Turns out that "90%, 35%" statistic is false; it's based on a sample size of 1. Look for yourself...

  • @michaeltrollan Hi, there - here is the source of the statistic you are referring to: Chris Fortson, “Women’s Rights Vital for Developing World,” Yale News Daily 2003.

  • @girleffect Thanks for sharing that source! Great to know you are interacting with the community (us!). :) Unfortunately, that article is not the source. Here's what the article says: "Coleman referred to a study that showed while women spend 90 percent of their income on their family, men put only 30 to 40 percent of their earnings toward theirs." The question is: what study??

  • @girleffect so basically, this is a sexest project?

  • @jansenhoganmusic Not at all. The Girl Effect exists to help everyone. And everyone includes boys. Indeed, better lives for girls mean better lives for everyone, including their brothers, fathers, future husbands and future sons. When you improve a girl’s life through education, health and opportunity, these changes have a positive ripple effect. As an educated mother, an active citizen and a prepared employee, she is the most influential force in her community to break the cycle of poverty.

  • @girleffect isnt that kinda sexist? I mean I think its wonderful to help girls and women but guys need a chance too

  • what about goats instead of cows? they eat less and are tough as nails

  • this kinda reminded me of sims 3

  • Awesomness!!!

  • Watched a few of your videos now and I agree one hundred per cent with the notion of this movement. Shame on the cynics condemning the women from impoverished backgrounds to the status quo of poverty. I'm even more surprised to see some of this condemnation from people with a left wing slant on this: Assuming this is some sort of conspiracy, or a mere money making scheme by "corrupt" officials and governments. Makes you want to throw up things from years passed.

  • its kinda funny when you think about how most of these naive comments have probably been left by arrogant, pompous, male, chauvinistic pigs.

You people think that you are making a difference by saying how every fundraiser is a conspiracy and will only benefit the government.

People are trying to come up with a solution, and this is a damned good one,

and people who have nothing better to do than to do nothing, throwing every idea out the window, are only contributing to the problem.

  • More buzzwords and jejune idealism which will ultimately come to nothing. What a waste of time.

  • @Heliossoileh your viewpoint makes me really sad. At least it'll get people thinking- it did for me. Try and see the good.

  • @TeKoha We completely agree... and so do the other several million who have shared and broadcast the video all over the world. Thanks for your support!

  • How was this video made??? keynote?

  • @cassiet04 Hi Cassie! The video was actually a project of several collaborators - created by the Nike Foundation, the video was produced by Wieden + Kennedy Portland and directed by Man vs. Magnet, in association with the production company Curious Pictures. The music was done by Elias Arts. I'm glad you liked the work and hope you'll help us spread the word.

  • Why not give money to all the girls? What if one doesn't succeed and the others still lose out on the benefits you propose to one, thusly singling them out? And lastly, what about giving males a chance too? Why segregate them based on primitive notions such as gender?

  • @Oneworld87

It's more complicated than that. Generally, in developing or undeveloped countries boys have more life opportunities than girls. Girls are more likely to be married young, forced into prostitution or be unable to provide for herself/ family. Girls are left FAR behind, that's why helping them is the key to reducing poverty. Statistically 30% of profits made by men go back to the family 90% of women's do. Also it isn't singling one out, that's just 1 example of how GirlEffect works.

  • @snoopybooty18 I see where you're getting at but the video makes it seems like boys are useless in such environments.

  • @Blergh0 Yeah that's true too. It's important for charities to find ways to help WHOLE societies, not just subsections and minorities. Although in this case helping a few winds up helping a lot, well hopefully anyway.

  • @Blergh0 @snoopybooty18 Absolutely! The thing about the Girl Effect is that it's not just about girls - it's about boys too. Indeed, better lives for girls mean better lives for everyone, including their brothers, fathers, future husbands and future sons. When you improve a girl’s life through education, health & opportunity, these changes have a positive ripple effect - as an educated mother & productive citizen, she is the most influential force in her community to break the cycle of poverty.

  • @morph995

NEWSFLASH: Not all woman want to have kids, to assume so is sexist and steriotyping.

Woman need to know that they have other options, they are more than 'baby making machines'.

  • Why is everyone so worked up about it being a girl?

If this video was about how a boy could change the world, nobody would be complaining, they would just assume it was referring to children in general.

Why can't the image of a girl be referring to children in general as well?

  • This is an awesome concept and a very moving presentation.

  • As a girlguide, we are working the MDG's to help woman all over the world

  • This is a great idea! It also kind of relates to our organization, Spread Your Wings. Please check it out!

  • This video inspires me.

  • How ironic. You state you don't want money, but your next post is asking everyone to visit GlobalGiving to -- now, what would that be -- DONATE MONEY! Folks, wake up and see that you will have no control over how any donation will be spent. Who decides who the "chosen" girls will be? What percent of each $100 gets to the pitched solution? How much of it ends up funding retirement accounts for a select handful of board members? Be very wary of simplistic solutions that ask for cash.

  • @HonestGirlScouts They don't just want cash. It is others decision if they want to donate or not. Money would be appreciated, but if not given, no complaint about it. And you may not know that. They could already have a certain percentage of the donations going to them for girls. There are simpler solutions. Try spreading the word. Instead of being pessimistic, try telling others about the GirlEffect, and tell them to tell others. It's like a chain reaction, and soon everyone will know about it.

  • @HonestGirlScouts Actually, our GlobalGiving page is just a fundraising tool for people who want to donate to projects on the ground. None of the $ donated goes to the Girl Effect movement - it is distributed among girl-focused projects on the ground. Those include Save the Children’s school fund for girls in Bangladesh, BRAC’s safe spaces & savings programs in Tanzania, the UN Foundation’s Berhane Hewan project, The Adolescent Girls’ Legal Defense Fund, and Fundacion Paraguaya.

  • @HonestGirlScouts The Girl Effect is a concept. A movement. It’s about the unique potential of adolescent girls to end poverty for themselves, and in the process, end poverty for the world. It’s about raising girls’ voices. We want everyone to know about the power of the Girl Effect. Why? Because we believe people have the power to demand and effect change. The more people who know that girls are they key to ending poverty, the more power the movement has. Our call-to-action: share the video.

  • @HonestGirlScouts I think this group is just educating people on what the real solutions to poverty are, which is investing in girls. It makes sense that they would refer people to an organization that actually helps girls.

  • @pinkandpurpleshoes2 Your statement is uncalled for. This is a global issue, not an Islamic issue. If you can't see that then maybe you didn't look hard enough.Or you're just anti-Islam.

  • This video was shown at my college freshman orientation because we're reading Half the Sky. It's really opened my eyes to a lot of the things going on around the world and how bad things really are. This video isn't showing pure feminism, it's a step toward equality.

  • Just another money-grabbing enterprise, like Susan G. Komen. Do you really believe GirlEffect will choose one girl from a village (neglect the rest), give her a cow, and that will prevent her from getting HIV and get her invited to the village council? How naive are you people? They just want your money, the government's money, corporate donations, etc.

  • @HonestGirlScouts The best part about the Girl Effect movement is that it's not 1, large movement... it's hundreds of thousands of small movements started by girl champs like you. It's not about us picking one girl to give a cow - it's about millions of girls connecting with their counterparts overseas and helping gain access to education, assets, economic voice & more. The ripple of this affects everyone - not just girls. We don't want anyone's $; we just want everyone to direct $ to girls.

  • @HonestGirlScouts GlobalGiving - the entity that facilitates donations to the Girl Effect movement - is a GREAT place to start.

  • @HonestGirlScouts

That's not what this is about. The Girl Effect is a movement and an idea.

It is trying to spread awareness of the concept that it only takes on girl to change the world.

  • @HonestGirlScouts would you rather that we do nothing and spend time complaining on youtube against people who actually are? Do you do anything besides posting complaints on youtube videos.

  • @pillaisachin I am doing something about false "warm and fuzzy," simplistic-pitch-organizations that are just fronts for MoveOn.org. I am a Girl Scout and I believe in what HonestGirlScouts(dot)com has to say about movements that dupe children into advocating for false-front fundraising, like The Girl Effect.

  • @HonestGirlScouts This isn't a competition you know, but I would like to know what have the Girl Scouts done for girls in the world? If anything?

  • @HonestGirlScouts I'm getting the feeling you missed the entire point of this video.

  • @Fazzelina I understand completely. This type of Feel Good pitch is being misused all over the world. For example, the Girl Scouts of the USA. You feel good buying a box of cookies from a little girl, thinking you are helping HER, when in fact, she gets only 40-75 cents of each box and the bulk of the profit (approx. $2.50/box) goes to the Council where it is misspent on adult agendas supporting UN pro-abortion goals. If you can handle Truth, see for yourself at HonestGirlScouts(dot)com.

  • @HonestGirlScouts In my opinion this video is a platform to introduce the idea of The Girl Effect to an international audience. When was the last time that you saw an advertisement for a charity without asking for a donation, that is why it's charity. If you had actually visited the website a person making a donation has the option of supporting Girl Effect as a collective or selecting a certain program to support, if everyone had your view no one would donate to charity and where would we be?

  • @thatpersonguydude

Why do women live longer than men?

Because the knives are in the kitchen.

  • Anywhere I can get the BGM? It helped this video resonate with my soul for some reason.

  • 266 sexists disliked.

  • guys, you have periods.you get sexually harassed. you get pregnant. you give birth then raise the kid on your own. stay home all day to take care of the kid and get nothing but disrespect for it.

be pressured to be beautiful so people accept you.

that includes, hair, makeup, wax strips, heels, uncomfortable clothes etc.EVERY day for your life.

now imagine all of that on top of poverty, a job, and everything else in this video.EVERYDAY

don't you think we deserve the chance from the girl effect?

  • the people that don't understand the research and realities behind the Girl Effect and Girl Up campaigns are the biggest part of the problem. Boys will never have to face the hurdles to the same degree that adolescent girls do. It's a shame more people can't see that.

  • i think the video graphic designer deserve to get noble..this is beautifull and simple

  • It's funny how its hard for people to understand that in impoverish countries it is the women: mothers and sisters, who RAISE the children and FEED the children. They work in at home AND at work, doing anything possible to feed their family. In underdeveloped countries women are ALMOST ALWAYS married or taking care of children at very young ages, it is not uncommon to see a 7 year old girl taking care of two-five younger siblings because their parents, or grandparents are sick or deceased.

  • i almost cried when i saw this. it's beautiful.

  • Everytime I watch this I get all goosebumpy. It makes me feel happy :)

  • This makes a very good point. I'm really shocked at how people are reacting to this! Btw what's the music ? :)

  • lol yeah that'll fix the world NOT. If theres 600,000,000 boys out there trying to do the same thing that was the plan here with all the resources that they can be provided and the country is still impoverished (which they are!) then how could giving a girl the same opportunity help? It would just force the country to spend more on schooling driving up the taxes and taking money from people that don't have it = CIVIL WAR... no sexism just common sense... thumbs up or down i dont give a SHIT!

  • @4biFarm i agree that this is very naif... but i still don't think anyone else has come up with any better solution witch is not predicting very much good to this world

  • @4biFarm exactly...giving women a chance is something the world has refused to do...it's about time.

  • @4biFarm Oh my god, that's so......................................................... ignorant. Seriously, it is. Denying it makes your comment seem even more ignorant. Find someone to explain to fully explain to you The Girl Effect and the negligence woman have endured (compared to men) then nod in realization and delete your comment.

  • @4biFarm

So because the country is low on money, they should cut back on how many students are aloud in public schools. Alright that makes a bit of sense.

What doesn't make sense is why those students are automatically the girls. Maybe half the girls, and half the boys would make sense.

But by saying 'just the girls' is NOT common sense and it IS sexist.

  • Come on girls let's stand up for those who can't! I am truly moved!:)

  • Ok nothing in this video implies that men are not as valuable as women. The thing is wmone have a diffrent view of some things, we see other aspects of a problem things that men can't see. Just as men see things we would have never noticed. If you help a girl to become just as educated than a man, and then maybe this girl gets a chance to get into the council you help the village gert a more complex view of problems. So that women and men can change the world together and make it a better place.

  • cute, a little naive, but I never tried it to complain.

  • What an incredible load of crap.

  • Respond to this video... ...that you will never accept other points of view. I feel sorry for you as you will get no where in life. No one will listen to you because you make such 'irrational' sensationalistic comments about a subject you no nothing about. Go ahead, reply, no ones listening, all the people that are worth listening to are out in the real world doing real things, educating themselves about the problems that really matter. K thanks and goodbye.

  • Respond to this video... b) You're not that educated because you're drawing 'irrational' conclusions back up with no evidence. "Everyone must be a feminist right?", where in what I have said gives evidence to being a feminist?, Just because someone supports women does not makes them a feminist, it makes them fair and rational.

  • Respond to this video... I did not say that girls deserve it all did I? No I did not. I said "they need more help"

    Now the conclusion that I can draw from what you have said is;

    a) You let your emotions get in the way of your reasoning (hence being the irrational one). This is because you have picked things that I have said that magnified them into a whole different point and opinion. You are also using very aggressive language

  • @JayantKumarZ

Mate look at you getting all fired up with irrational responses. I'm going to challenge what you say because i have the right to just as much as you. And who said I was a woman?

And did I ever say that we should concentrate on just women? No I did not!. I am not a feminist but I do believe that in developing countries women are more disadvantaged. It's a fact.

  • yea educate only 1 sex & problem is solved... true but only for that sex, uve cut the competition by half... i can never promote you people who create more and more imbalances in society...

trust me you as well as i kno... if males were the more illiterate in the statistics; which i bet they are, then none of you, you watchers nor you, the owner would even bother to make a video about 1 sex - boys effect or nything like that. thats the problem you people only create more n more imbalance,,,

  • @JayantKumarZ Males are not more illiterate in the statistics and males are not the more disadvantaged gender, that is why females need more help.

People don't turn around and say "If white people were the minority then black people would marginalise them".

People don't reason who deserves charity with "Oh well a tsunami could have struck anywhere in the world so lets not help the japanese".

Do a bit of reading into social development before you make grandiose statements

  • @NowTumbling ur point being one is more disadvantaged over the other is it? c'mon males are not given steel bodies with microchipped brains u dumbass. oh wait nvm then we will be having artificially chosen sex as female & every human will be artificially be nerfed into a female. no point giving reply to u.

go ahead create more imbalance in all possible spheres. i cannot blame u for thinking irrationally now can I? you are ought to do so just 85% of the people in the world. no point telling you

  • What would really happen:

She takes a loan, no one buys her milk, shes stuck with a loan she cant repay. Fin.

  • A Cow would make this big of a difference? I dont see it.

This is a big business scam to make you feel better. I dont like it. I know girl effect will be profiting off the money you give them.

  • Its not about women getting jobs it's more about them needing to be educated... They need know know about contraception and STDS and such to take control of their own lives

  • This has nothing to do with femenism. This everything to do with the poverty and education level of girls and women around the world. You speak with a closed mind of someone who has only known a life in a developed country. Even the poorest person in the United States has access to education. Many of these girls aren't even given the chance to learn to read or write. Open your view of the world you spoiled children.

  • you dont seem to understand that it isnt a lack of working population to fill skilled jobs in africa. it is a few jobs that only the most skilled are able to take....and everyone else starves.....

  • and women because they are educated can stop war......even though again you put a man in that situation just as educated they cant......

listen i hate to interrupt your feminist rally on here but giving women a higher education and blah blah blah wont just solve all the worlds problems... giving them education will only make them more able to do jobs that men already do. therefore makeing more people that are skilled enough to do jobs but doesnt actually create more of those jobs....

  • right because a girl that gets an education and is given a cow will inherently do better than a man in the same scenario..........i got it.....women simply by virtue of being educated to a higher degree can stop a biological disease that spread by having sex....however men that again have that same education are incapable of doing what that woman "can" do.

  • @tansen2

The point is that if the girl goes to school and gets an education, she will be less likely to make any decisions that could lead to her contracting aids. She would then be able to educate other girls on the topic and they would be safer to.

Also, this video isn't saying that men can't change things. It is simply saying that woman can too.

  • @KERSHProductions - I truly don't mean to trivialize the issue at all. I am only expressing my view that on a global basis the problem is simply too great and we can not really address with while simultaneously believing as most liberal do, that all cultures are equal.

  • (dramatic pause)

  • CHAMA OS MALUCO DOIDO DA CONE QUE ELES RESOLVE

  • @Ripper3gc: how could this not make since?

  • Thinking about this , this organization makes no sense at all.

  • seeing extreme poverty firsthand, this makes me think that it's nothing more than wishful thinking aka "in a perfect scenario" ...some men don't want to see women succeed.

  • great video, great idea...

but if you have never lived in a poor country, you won´t understand the concept.

girls are the weakest human profile in poor countries and get the worse deal out of society... if you have to invest in a profile to alleviate poverty, girls are by no doubt the best option.

Having said that I am not particularly concerned with the prosperity of humankind, which is already doing very well.

    but excellent work! txs

  • Men and women are equal. There is no such thing as a women's job and a man's job. My mom AND my dad cook, clean and help me and my brother with our problems. Women are awesome and so are men. Everyone has a calling it's not being gay if you these things, it's called "Being Human". You sexists should it sometime. That goes out to men and women.

  • I find it hilariously ironic on how many women and girls love to constantly remind everyone how they are taking the majority of jobs, obtaining higher education rates then men, and generally achieving wealth at the expanse of men, and at the same time, complain continuously about the "oppression" of women. They gleefully predict men will lose power, and then demand they subsidize the process.

The message of this video boils down to: I am female. Therefore, I am powerful.

    Wrong.

  • @LifesProtagonist Although I agree with your point about the irony, but I think you're misunderstanding the point of this video. This video is trying to show that women who are treated like worthless property really can make a difference for the world and that (with a little love and generosity) can be just as powerful as anyone else. The video is not targeted towards well-off males and it is not trying to say that women are in any way inherently more powerful.

  • @LifesProtagonist

All of this stuff about woman getting jobs and higher education is true. However it is only in developed countries such as the US.

In 3rd world countries, such as parts of Africa, woman are still extremely oppressed.

  • @TheGrowingAwareness dude... ur saying that all girls dont have a chance to live a life with poverty and that all the bad things happen to a girl can PREVENT the deseases when she sells her milk, goes to the doctor and is happy -.-

  • @Ranger123589

No, what I am saying is everyone is missing the point here.

I do believe a girl can come out of poverty ...

    This is all about "banking"

It is about handing out loans

It is about handing out loans in a disease infested, pestilence stricken, poverty overwhelmed area.

Remember: "The debtor is slave to the Lender"

It is a setup ... just like they did with the FR in the U.S. (Federal reserve is not part of the U.S.A.) ... U.S. is now a slave to the FR and to the World Bank.

  • the GIRL affect is about (holy shit *gasp gasp gasp*) GIRLS. Sheesh... but I bet those same people who get 'offended' don't give a shit when people say things like 'the race of MAN.' or use the word "HE" to refer to both genders, loosely. Oh c'mon!

    Our mother have HUGE impacts on us... (so do our fathers, but stay with me here) if these poor girls in poverty can sustain themselves, they can have healthy families even if the father leaves her (as seems often the case, eh) and has no impact -.-;;

  • would u guys stop thinking of the fkin negative of what could happen to a girl -_- its like saying girls have no life but seriously girls do have lives and should have better lives than today so U WAKE UP TheGrowingAwareness -.-

  • People are just not getting the grasps of this video.. It's about giving woman equality in countries where they are 2nd class citizens, sure a guy could do just as good a job but then nothing would change between men and women.. its hitting two birds with one stone and trying to meet the Millennium Development Goals.. yes, its over-simplified but it shows how doing a very simple thing can have knock on effects.

  • girls r NOT second class human, we DON'T need to stay in the kitchen (go make ur own sandwich). Stop being sexist assholes.

  • pfft...girls should stay in the kitchen

  • Woooo multi-modality... Anyone else for the Murdoch Uni EGL150 assignment? A shout out would be nice!
