I met Townes at the Edmonton Folk Fest in the 90's, we talked for about 20 minutes. He was truely a fine person and his music will last forever. He was the symbol of singer/songwriters everywhere and lived the life to prove it.
A few years ago Steve Earle played at the Edm. Folk Fest and his entire show was dedicated to Townes Van Zandt. It was very touching.
I would love to see Townes' son JTVZ play at the same Fest some day

Things like this are far and few in between these days.. Sad that we never hear or see someone like Steve Townes make the news or top of the charts any more.... All we can do is there are more like Steve Earle that continue the traditions of such great song writers like Townes.. Must have been something to sit in a small room like this and see Earle pick and play like this.. I envy you..
Yes, I think the bandanna started as his cool version of a sweatband. If you sweat much, and he does, you end up with a wet guitar under those lights.
He said in an interview a few years ago that if he ever did break his sobriety, we would know it, because he'd be dead. That was in response to rumors after he lost a lot of weight on the Atkin's diet.
@JTho658351 Poor Townes would joke that he heard there's HEAVEN-PURGATORY-HELL and below that THE BLUES. He'd laugh and say I'm trying to get....well you know...Sign of a Saint they say is his being unaware of his importance. In fact he said he wanted to be able to touch just one soul, if possible. Of course we know he is touching countless more as time goe on...
steve doin townes does it get any better?

I am a big fan of Steve Earle, and this is probably my favorite country song, but I don't know...
Gimme Emmylou, or Willie and Merle.

Townes is looking down from up there with pride. Steve Earl has always been a cut above

Thanks for posting. Haven't seen Steve in almost 2 years and I'm going through some bad withdrawl.
