  • A good old 70's show.

  • Wow I remember this show, haven't seen it in ages! I used to love it as a kid, I'll have to find somewhere to watch all the episodes now that I know its name!

  • Yep.... looks like sinus tachy all right.... It's an inverted wave, but the pattern matches.

  • It seemed like the most important thing every time was to "set up a command post".

  • Wow we've come a long way from the 70's lol

  • I had watched this show when it was originally on in the early 70s...I was around 10 or so. I had the biggest crush ever on Dr. Kelly Brackett

  • HA! They put their helmets on when they got in the truck, then took them off before thye got out of the truck.

  • Emergency comes on Everyday at 3 p.m. on RTV channel 168 here in Columbus Ga . ITs on KNOLOGY cable .

  • In my area, RTV comes on channel 192. I have insight cable though. I love Emergency thanks to my dad who got me into it. It's funny how I go up to my high school friends and say I watched emergency last night and they will be like what's that? Lol

  • @paramedicEmergency51 We don't have RTV here anymore.

  • Man I <3 this show!

  • holy @#$% ........Talk about memories........

  • man i used 2 watch it om tv when i was a teenager in the late 90.s it ues 2 come on on channewl 51 and nick and nite very classic the ambulance look very funny lol.

  • Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how Roy talked different in the first and second seasons? It wasn't really an accent, but he just sounded a little different in later seasons.

  • @engine173351

Yeah, in these first season episodes, all the time, he sounds like he has a cold. Something else I've noticed, too. His hair is more reddish in these early episodes. Coincidence? Hmmm. What to make of those two details? Roy's my favorite character, though John does run a close second. Neither one of them can hold a candle to my favorite rock singer, the late great Michael Hutchence from INXS.

  • @squirm13.. This was shown in the UK, in the 70s.... I watched it as a kid...:-)

  • One of many usa shows that never got shown in the uk, even on sky tv, the only way i could see it would be on dvd, there are alot of usa shows i would like to see, from this era and before.

  • finally got a youtube account! I like this show started to watch a couple of year ago. i wasn't born when it was new

  • one thing i like about programs like this is how it shows how far we have come technologically and medically.

  • Pam 2167. It depends where you live. All the places I've lived the dispatcher sends both ambulance and fire. Never know who'll get there first, gives more manpower, more equipment in case of failure, one of the units could be in a wreck, also you don't always have the same training. One call the amb. might have an EMT and the fire a Paramedic. Next call reversed.

  • If you get Retro TV net work in your area, you can watch this show, my local news-station has a digital channel that runs Retro tv when they are not on the the air with news. Check it out see if your local station will carry it.

  • actually, "Crash", took this scene from the episode of Emergency.

  • In a few isolated instances from the first and second seasons, the regular apparatus borrowed from LACoFD and used for filming appear to have been unavailable as some scenes show a slightly different vintage Crown Firecoach pumper, most evident by the different style of emergency lights on the cab's roof. The mixing of stock station and response footage with footage filmed for specific storylines created continuity errors by mixing these apparatus.

  • I use to watch this show a lot. And i never indestood it. I mean two guys clearly from the fire department, doing what an ambulance normally does? If you dial 911 an ambulance comes not the fire department EMT's

  • I guess it depends on what city you live in. I live in Calgary Alberta. Sometimes if the ambulance is tied up and can't get there right away they will send a fire truck. Or like in my late brothers situation when he colasped and went into cardiac arrest they sent an additional ambulance and a fire truck so they could take turns with chest compressions.

  • pay kids ? they don't WRITE shows like this . I never heard of EMTS til this came out . NOW , that is common .

  • Yes, there were many inconsistencies in the vehicles, especially prior to Engine 51 receiving the Ward LaFrance. If you notice, several responses during the first two seasons had a hodgepodge of older Crown apparatii with either the Mars or Solary forward lights. Starting with the 2nd episode of the 3rd season "The Old Engine" The Ward LaFrance solved much of those issues.

  • it's too bad they did'nt remake this show they would most likely use the following apparatus for the show

engine 51 one of the 20 new KME engines that is currently in production

one of the new 2009 0r 2010 ford squads for squad 51.

  • Burglars having a heart attack. Good !!

  • 03:00 "Get on that oxygen"... Oh, and I forgot, don't touch him tho we're about to zap him. lol

  • Capt. Stanley & his crew were actually A Shift, if you people would listen carefully in the epsiodes, you would know!!!

  • i love this show! i watch it everyday. they show it on the retro channel

  • I loved this show and wish they would rerun it on one channel or another on regular TV. Lots of people now working as paramedics got interested because of this show. Every time I take a first aid test I score the top of my class and I credit this show with a lot of that.

  • im 11 and i love this show! mtv sucks compared to this. Been watching for 2 years.

  • hell yeah!

  • I remember watching this show[1981 I was 5] as a kid with my granny. It was one of her favorite shows. You can't pay kids these days to watch a classy show on TV.

  • The series Trauma blows compares to this!

  • I heard the producer actuly wanted to do a modern remake of Emergancy, but he did a crappy job with pyrotecnecs and all the pilots and FFs dying

  • I watched this show every saturday night at 8 on channel 4 in los angeles. I never missed it. the whole family knew it was time for me to watch and they just left the room. my mother would always come in the room and say, "You know your aunt dated Joe early" Back in the day in Pa. they knew eachother. Well i didn;t care about that, I just wanted to learn how to drive that engine!!...lol Well i pursued girls and weed so my firefighter days did not come true. Stay in school kids!!!

  • I absolutely love this show!!!! I mean we watched it as a family also. The show was so '70's but what a classic show this was and still is!!! Love it a lot. Thanks for posting this show. Thanks brings back a lot of memories!!!

  • We used to watch this show as a family, I think it was on at 7pm CST on Saturdays. Great show! My dad would walk outside about 6:55 and yell "Emergency!!"

  • Us 40 somethings had such wonderful shows to grow up on. Kids now would not be able to sit through a show with a plot and character,

  • im 15. i love this show

  • I loved thi show too

  • I was the only one who loved this show

  • I watch this all the time on the RTN network. My question is why does John Gage always have so much trouble with dating?

  • That's 1 of the ongoing quirks through the series. Another 1 is you never see the dispatcher's face--his back is always turned.

  • Uhh not always. I have the full Season 5 DVD set and there are a few episodes where Dispatcher Lanier's face is shown.

  • omg I loved this show!!

  • "Don't worry, they know what their doing"

  • Which episode is this from?

  • It is from the episode "Dilemma"

  • Actually, this scene is from the episode "Crash".

  • NIce. I loved desoto

  • BOOKEM DANNO LOL

  • Why don't you put up the entire episode, instead of just a small section?

  • Check out how the squad changes from an early 70's model to a mid 60's truck and back again.

    oops! funny stuff!

  • The older truck is a 1970 or 71 model, and the newer one is a '72.
