Knowledge of physics sucks.  Terminal velocity for someone not in a dive position is about 120 mph. To go supersonic (which is what Rainbow Dash does here, breaks the sound barrier) requires a speed of 768 mph. Rainbow Dash would have been better off letting them hit the ground then hitting them at supersonic speed. Oh well, its um, pony inertial dampening magic?

A lot of other bronies tend to RP and talk about the sonic rainboom as if Rainbow Dash can just fly along and pull off one easy. Like she could just take off, and seconds later, cause a sonic rainboom. In this episode, you can obviously tell that it is not easy for her. She was practicing, and failed over and over only to finally pull it off at the very last minute when she got enough adrenaline to push it to the limit, as her friend was falling to her death. This was the 2nd one she's ever done

But she just fell over her friends, right into the library. Besides, she made her first Sonic Rainboom as a filly and in S2Ep3 "Lesson Zero" she made an Atomic Rainbomb, which might kill the average... well, Gundam. And as far as I know, she went out of it fine and walking.
