I think the dipeche mode song was used because the lyrics are a tad dramatic about the subject of depression. Mind you, a lot of the Death Rock, Punk, and New Wave artists in Europe came from very poor backgrounds filled with abuse and desperation, then found their voice united in the art school scene there.

With metal, too many people would agree. No fun.
Besides, if people don't like the video, they can just ignore it. That's why emos are so much fun. They can't let anything go; they must always have the last word. And there is nothing more fun than not letting someone have the last word.
