For decades, say Martinich and colleague David Stewart, the church had poor retention rates, particularly in Latin America. That resulted in a gap between the membership numbers the church reports -- 13.8 million in 2009 -- and the number of active members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Testimonies are fragile and need constant nourishment. They can be lost for many reasons -- including simple failure to nurture them. Great suffering or loss can damage faith, or can make faith all the more precious. At those times, a devoted, supportive and comforting community can be of enormous help.
Have you ever been in an airplane and experienced turbulence? The most common cause of turbulence is a sudden change in air movement causing the aircraft to pitch, yaw, and roll. While planes are built to withstand far greater turbulence than anything you would encounter on a regular flight, it still may be disconcerting to passengers.
At this point some of you may be thinking, “That’s all very fine and good, but what does it have to do with flying an airplane?” Well, let me tell you.

The Lord promised us that if we believe in the holy prophets, we should have eternal life (see D&C 20:26). In the sixth article of faith, we declare that we believe in prophets. To believe means to have faith and confidence in them and to follow and do what the prophets ask us to do.
We are told that “surely the Lord God will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets” (Amos 3:7). We learn from this scripture that the Lord will reveal to His prophets absolutely anything that He feels is necessary to communicate to us. He will reveal His will to us, and He will instruct us through His prophets.

The skit involved students pretending to be missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaching a group of teens. Mormon missionaries work in pairs throughout the world to teach the gospel and baptize those who accept their message.
It's not a conflict, it's more like a family genealogy. Sam's paternal grandfather, a Roman Catholic also named Sam Granato, emigrated from Italy just after the turn of the century, settling in Utah, first in Tooele, then in Bountiful, to raise goats
The first clue you get that Sam Granato is no easy-to-profile, stereotypical, one-party kind of guy is when you walk in his office at Frank Granato Importing Co. on Redwood Road, the family wholesale food distribution business his late father started in 1948 and he now runs.

@omiolo "If I wanted to talk NONSENSE I would take the ANTImormon approach to things!" You only feel that way because you stubbornly close your mind and limit your agenda to the teachings of Mormonism. You are not willing to investigate claims of so called "anti-Mormons." @omiolo I never said the FBI was coming to get you. How many times do I have to tell you that? you're the one who sarcastically added that part in, and your playing games is beginning to get old.
@cayetanohawaii "I never said the FBI was coming to get you. "
you DID. In fact you said they would be knocking at my door! Nice try though. HONESTY has NEVER been your forte. But that is why you are in the position you are in!
@omiolo "You said they would be knocking at my door." That was because I was sure they would take action regarding my complaint. As I said before I was wrong. Luckily for you, YouTube decided NOT to pursue it. You say my forte is dishonesty after I explained it to you how many times now? Your forte is that you have a reading comprehension problem. I suggest you work on that!
@omiolo "Stop the lying." I never said the FBI. I said "They" as in the FTC, the federal agency that deals with copyright infringers and plaigerizers like YOU.
@omiolo "You wrote FBI." Again, that is "assuming" they would be the arresting agency. I've never seen the local police arrest anyone in a federal investigation. Wouldn't that be silly? I'm pretty sure the FTC could not arrest you, since they have no arresting powers. Does that make sense. I am sorry if you misunderstood me. But that is your forte. Misunderstanding and taking things out of context. You want me gone? I know, talking to people with logic and itellect can be a challenge for you!
I guess that's what Mormonism has brainwashed you to believe. Supposedly, everyone who is non- Mormon is just playing games. I think you're the one playing games. In Atrahasis, a Mesopotamian narrative from ca. 1700 BC, we find a creation story that defines the first human as a divine/mortal hybrid, a composite mix of earthly clay and the spirit of a god. One scholar has noted that in this story, there is an apparent unease among the gods that the creation might recognize its divine origin and desire to return to his place among them.
Western history records multiple versions of this tension between divine nature and mortal limitations, between heavenly origins and dangerous presumption about human possibilities. . .
Book burnings are a relic from a barbaric past. Recently, some people burned the Book of Mormon to protest the Mormon Church's opposition to gay marriage

@IloveChrist2 When I watched the video, I actually researched the information for myself and posted it on here. I only wonder if Bornagainstmormons actually read it. Probably not, since she likes to ignore the inconsistencies in her church. It's funny she whined about you supposedly using obscene language when she condones and overlooks equivalent behavior out of fellow LDS members on her channel. She and her comrades display nothing but the fruits of UN-Christlike behavior, yet judges others.
I do not like the way that The Salt Lake Tribune is run. Clearly, you are an anti-Mormon newspaper. The day after the general conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, after dozens of uplifting and kind talks were given, you choose to have a headline that says "Packer: Gays can change" (Tribune, Oct. 4).
SALT LAKE CITY -- The Mormon church says it disagrees with gay rights activists on some issues, but shares the community's concern over acts of cruelty against lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender individuals.
Church spokesman Michael Otterson read an official church statement Tuesday after the Human Rights Campaign, a national gay rights group, delivered a petition signed by 150,000 of its members to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' headquarters.
The desire to marry among members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is ingrained from youth. When it doesn't go according to plan, when marriage doesn't happen in the early 20s, men and women often experience immense pressure, either self-imposed or from parents and family members. Clayson was no exception.
Her parents helped her to settle in New York. She remembers her first night alone in New York, sitting in her apartment overlooking the Hudson from 30 floors up, "feeling like I might as well be on the surface of Mars. I thought, I had better get down on my knees. I prayed. I laid it out. Here are my concerns ...."
@omiolo CLEARLY, the verses I quoted were to warn people of FALSE prophets like Joseph Smith. So STOP pretending that Mormonism has ANYTHING to do with Biblical scripture because they have NO relation. Of course, you are too deluded to see that!

Elder Walker said the Laie temple is the 12th temple dedicated or rededicated by President Monson since he became Church president in February of 2008. @omiolo Romans 16:17-18 "I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles CONTRARY to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by "smooth talk" and "flattery" they deceive the hearts of the NAIVE."
@cayetanohawaii "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them"
@omiolo "Now do you see why we block anti-Mormons." You clearly don't get it. I do see why people like mormonanswerman block people because they are in denial of the of the truth, and they persecute those speak it. Truthfully, because you HATE the gospel of Jesus Christ. Because if you didn't, the Bible would be enough. I think it is sad that you use the Bible to justify your FALSE Christianity. Let's break this down. Which came FIRST before the verses I quoted? That or the Mormon "gospel?"
@imtherealthing What deeply saddens me is the cayetanohawaii's of the world that seek to justify or overlook these obscenities. As if filth is necessary for their salvation.
@BornAgainstMormons "Overlooking obscenities." That is so NOT true. All we have with the information pertaining to this video is your word. IF it is true that what you claim about receiving this filthy email, I apologize that anyone would send you that and denounce such behavior. However, the part about Thomas S. Monson trying to rape a girl IS fair game. That is why I researched it and posted the story regarding the information on this page. Is it true? I don't know, but again, we should know.
@BornAgainstMormons It's funny that you accuse me of overlooking obscenities after the way your friends imtherealthing, DrRockwelkPorter and a few others acted on your channel a couple of months ago and displayed UNChrist-like behavior. Did you address those things or denounce those issues? No. So you're a hypocrite, and you have NO room to speak of such things about me.
You forget...all one needs to do in FALSE "christianity" is just profess salvation with thier "mouths"...no need for the fruits of the SPIRIT...even though it says that what "proceeds out of the mouth defiles"...not to mention...that devils also believe..yet these FALSE "christians" do not get that.
@omiolo "We have the truth that you lack and we both know it." Now isn't that silly... If you ACTUALLY had the truth, then I would be a Mormon. The only supposed truth I lack is YOUR "version" of it. With that being the case, I'm ok with that because I have the truth from the REAL Jesus Christ.
@BornAgainstMormons I'm sorry for all the horrible things those awful other "anti-Mormons" said to you. How DARE they talk that way to my beloved most holy, omnipotent Bornagainstmormons....Those Bastards! I denounce this terrible filth! I cannot believe they would do that to you and call themselves Christian...
@omiolo Do you have 1 lie in mind? You know the law is written upon the heart. What is the purpose of prophets and apostles when we have "Gods Word" & direct access to Jesus Christ who is the high priest? It is by the will of God and His grace, "not of man", we are made righteous. In rebirth of the spirit, the perfection once removed from Adam returns to make a new creature perfected "in Christ" to become a child of God. It's easy to understand if you see God as the uncreated, infinite creator.
The Laie Hawaii Temple, which is situated on land adjacent to BYU-Hawaii on the northeast shore of Oahu, was originally dedicated Nov. 27, 1919, by then President Heber J. Grant. It was the fifth operating temple in the world.
The Church's first congregations in Hawaii were organized on Maui, Lanai and Oahu. Early missionaries included Joseph F. Smith, who later became president of the Church, and George Q. Cannon, who later served as a member of the First Presidency.
"It was a great privilege, not being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to be able to actually see such a sacred temple that's held in the place that it is by the people of the religion; and for our community to have this opportunity is very, very meaningful," the governor said soon after finishing the open house tour.
Even if Church members aren't familiar with the name Carl Heinrich Bloch, once they take one look at the new exhibit housed in the BYU Museum of Art, they will recognize many of his works. The Danish artist Bloch, who lived in the 1800s, is well known today for his artwork used in Church books and materials, and LDS meetinghouses painand temples around the globe.
The American Grace study assessed a composite measure of “religiosity” that measured individuals’ levels of religious observance, the strength of their religious convictions about God and their faith, and the degree to which they feel their religion is personally important. As a group, Mormons registered a high level of “religiosity” (American Grace, 23-24).
@omiolo "Pretending to be someone else." Good, I am glad you haven't pretended to be someone else...So you say. I haven't either, so I would appreciate if STOP making that accusation, unless you actually have PROOF.
General conferences of the Church take place every six months reaching a global audience estimated to be in the millions. But for Mormons, the grand scope and scale of the event is merely backdrop to the real drama taking place in the individual life of each participant.
Church Draws Upon Membership to Interpret General Conference
The Church's culturally and linguistically diverse membership allows it to recruit literally hundreds of interpreters to accomplish the colossal task of interpreting general conference to reach millions of listeners.
"We're doing one thing where we're working in a garage that was donated to us by the city," said Kenya Roberts-Howard, Senior Program Coordinator for the YNDC.
It was the perfect weather for people who came out to volunteer for the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation's Neighborhood Work Day on Saturday. The agency wrapped up some final projects that needed to be done before the end of the year.
Continued... She started walking home and he followed her in his car, trying to apologize for what had taken place. Finally, she relented, and he apparently drove her home. Gayle also stated that she and other "victims" stood up at a Stake Center where Thomas S Monson was preaching and "He turned as white as a ghost".
Continued... The two apparently took a drive up one of Utah's Canyons and there, Monson allegedly tried to force himself on Gayle. She claimed, "He was like a wild animal" as he tore at her clothes. She resisted and he allegedly told her, "Don't you know that I am going to be a big man in the (Mormon) Church one day? Apparently, she was able to break free from his grasp and exit the car.
Story: Thomas S. Monson Attempted Rape Allegation: Gayle Smith, a resident of Lehi, Utah has had a very difficult life. In a startling revelation she told this reporter that current Mormon Prophet, Thomas S Monson, attempted to rape her. The alleged event took place when Monson was a married man and the Bishop of Utah congregation. Gayle stated that a friend of hers lined her up with a "blind date" with Thomas S Monson.
I would like to see PROOF about any of the comments that were supposedly made contained in this video. ANYBODY can claim ANYTHING about what someone MAY have said. All you have here is hear say. BTW- We should have the right to know if a man who calls himself a prophet of God tried to rape a girl or not.
I find that in the ANTImormon world, the more you try and convince Mormons that you are associated with the sacred name of Jesus Christ, the MORE you are like the serpent. The youtube user you mention undoubtedly has many many usernames, but you should really call him LEGION because he is many.
It is unfortunate that Anti-Christs can't claim to be brainwashed and blinded.. but are just evil so that they have in their hearts a desire to reject Jesus Christ -- but not content with that they seek to keep others from eternal joy as well -- contrary to the Bible that they claim to revere (and indeed place above God). They do NOT believe what the Bible actually teaches and they refuse to follow Jesus. Cayetanohawaii has done an excellent job demonstrating the rebellion of anti-Christs.
It is unfortunate that Mormons are so brainwashed and blinded by pride that they refuse to open up their minds to the truth, even when you show them scripture and everything is laid out in front of them. They do NOT believe what the Bible teaches, yet profess to be Christian. ImLDSRU2 has done well demonstrating the ignorance of LDS Church members.
@cayetanohawaii so you DESPERATELY try to fabricate things about Mormons and it is Mormons that are brainwashed? Come on! I am STILL waiting for the FBI to show up at my door like you promised. BAHAHAHA
@omiolo2 Hmmm, desperately fabricate things about Mormons? I'm really not sure how one can fabricate things that are truth. Waiting for the FBI to come to your door????
@ImLDSRU2 "Ripping people away from the true gospel." Again, who was here first when the Bible was already completed and gospel fulfilled? Scripture makes that clear. Then Joey came along. So who's ripping away who from truth? Scripture also warns against false teachers and prophets, but you're too stupid to see where Mormonism is connected into that. You have the false perception your deeds will get you saved when your works are equal to God as filthy rags. May He have mercy on your soul.
@cayetanohawaii Uhhh.. weren't you done talking with me? You said so. Oh but wait.. that was just one more lie you told. One on top of the other. And why not? You are anti-Christ. Thats how you roll.
Yes, scripture warns against false teachers and that is why i am exposing you as an anti-Christ.
You worship idols and false gods and your deeds are like used toilet tissue. May God have mercy on your soul.
@ImLDSRU2 BTW- Your comment "I am not a bibliolater like you." My response: Then you can't call yourself Christian. "Meaningless in another sense." Now you're covering up. You specifically said the scriptures I quoted was meaningless. So is it or isn't it? God said those things. If my verses I cited are meaningful, then you should see where the problem is with Mormonism. You've been caught at your own game. You don't seem to trust in the Bible, so stop calling yourself Christian. Mormonism is N
@cayetanohawaii Yes, I said the scripture was meaningless. And I have clarified, in case you are not aware... that was said in the context of this discussion. If you want to call that backing up.. do whatever you want. You are a liar and an anti-Christ anyway, so your words are like droppings from a rabbit anyway.
@cayetanohawaii The verses you cited are meaningless in this discussion. They are utterly irrelevant to whether there are prophets after Jesus. And you know it. You are a liar and an anti-Christ. It must feel awful to be you.
@ImLDSRU2 Funny, I've seen how you go around calling everyone anti-Christs that recognize the and are able to open up there eyes. It feels great to be me because I know the truth and have dedicated my life to God by defending it. I will no longer waste my time talking with you. Like the rest on here, you are closed- minded, you don't comprehend scripture when it's been cited, and you have clearly shown how ignorant you are by rebuttling with nothing other than personal attacks.
@ImLDSRU2 Also calling me a liar is childish. How pathetic for someone who claims to be older than me. I can't count how many times you have called people anti- Christ on BAM's other video. Do we need to count how many times? I'm through having a conversation with an adult who displays infantile behavior. When you feel having an adult conversation and can demonstrate that, please feel free to do so. Your name calling and personal attacks have destroyed ANY credibility you think may have had.
@cayetanohawaii How childish of you. If a person is a liar, they are a liar. Its not childish to say so. But it is childish to claim its childish. What a little man you are!
@cayetanohawaii I am satisfied if you are done talking with me. You are, after all, a liar and a hypocrite. And anti-Christ. You can't possibly imagine that you have anything to teach me but evil. Your whole goal is to rip people away from the True Gospel and into the dark paths and strange ways of your bibliolatry and monster god.
@ImLDSRU2 "The wicked operates by wanting you to be open to their perversions." Yep. Sounds like Mormonism. Who was here first until Joey Smith came along to pervert the gospel? Man, you are so brainwashed!
@ImLDSRU2 Why doesn't BAM just accept the debate between Mormonism and Christianity, instead of resorting to malicious personal attacks against individuals? She represents Mormons well.
I do not believe in 'debate' between Mormonism and Christianity. There is no such thing.
There is however, an attempt by anti-Christian elements to demean and belittle the Church of God with innuendo, false accusations, half truths and lies. They then like to call those things 'debates'.
@cayetanohawaii I'm afraid you're mistaken. The LDS Church is the only True Church on the Face of the Whole Earth and the only Church with which God is well pleased as a general rule. Because the rest of so-called Christianity follows abominable creeds.
@ImLDSRU2 "Morminism the only true church on the face of the earth." That is a lie the devil wants you to believe. You have no proof at all that Mormonism is the only true church other than from the word of an adulterer and pedophile, Joseph Smith. The BOM is not consistent at all with the Bible and completely contradicts what it says. The Bible clearly says God's word never changes. You are truly deceived.

@cayetanohawaii What? I'm supposed to be open minded to the trash and nonsense that an anti-Christ spews? How silly.
But that is how the wicked operate. They want you to "open your mind" to their perversions and see them as normal. That is what you want.
What an anti-Christ you are.

@cayetanohawaii Why on earth would I want credibility with an anti-Christ? Wow. I can't even imagine wanting such a thing.

@ImLDSRU2 "The wicked operates by wanting you to be open to their perversions." Yep. Sounds like Mormonism. Who was here first until Joey Smith came along to pervert the gospel? Man, you are so brainwashed!
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@cayetanohawaii It only sounds like Mormonism to someone who is anti-Christ.
I thought you were done talking to me. But that was another lie. You lie continually. The truth is not in you. You are anti-Christ.

@ImLDSRU2 Why doesn't BAM just accept the debate between Mormonism and Christianity, instead of resorting to malicious personal attacks against individuals? She represents Mormons well.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@cayetanohawaii I agree, she represents Mormons well.
I do not believe in 'debate' between Mormonism and Christianity. There is no such thing.
There is however, an attempt by anti-Christian elements to demean and belittle the Church of God with innuendo, false accusations, half truths and lies. They then like to call those things 'debates'.
ImLDSRU2 1 year ago
@ImLDSRU2 I'm afraid you're mistaken. The LDS Church is not the church of God because Mormonism is NOT Christian.
cayetanohawaii 1 year ago
@cayetanohawaii I'm afraid you're mistaken. The LDS Church is the only True Church on the Face of the Whole Earth and the only Church with which God is well pleased as a general rule. Because the rest of so-called Christianity follows abominable creeds.
ImLDSRU2 1 year ago
@ImLDSRU2 "Morminism the only true church on the face of the earth." That is a lie the devil wants you to believe. You have no proof at all that Mormonism is the only true church other than from the word of an adulterer and pedophile, Joseph Smith. The BOM is not consistent at all with the Bible and completely contradicts what it says. The Bible clearly says God's word never changes. You are truly deceived.
