the torque & the auto gearbox make the mustang more power in street but in a race the z06 should win with the here perfect balance and low kg

The Z06 is much less weight, much more expensive, and has only two seats. So it's amazing that a blower swap for $4k can bring the Z06 to it's knees on the strip. Not to mention when Shelby dies the value will jump , so quit y

It is a badass looking car, but to me it's more of a collectors item than something meant to be raced. I mean if it were meant to be raced, wouldn't it come with something better than the Mustang GT suspension, or did they fix that yet?

It's a solid rear, that's everything there can be wrong with it. If Ford even bothered to give it a better suspension, it'd easily walk a Z06. But that's what makes a Ford a Ford. They always do a half-ass job with the Mustang. If they put as much work into the Mustang as they did the F150 I probably wouldn't HATE Mustangs as much as I do.

the solid axle is alot better for drag racing then irs and irs is better for road courses so what your point pick one r the other personally i think road racing it just a step up from drifting. the only real racing is drag racing takes just as much skill to set up a drag suspension as a road course suspension that just my opinion and thats why i prefer a solid axle but if you like road courses then the irs would make sense too.

also the 03-04 cobras had irs and they went back to the solid axle because the buyers wanted the solid axle.

I still think it's a half-assed job. And wasn't 2005 the first year that every mustang gt had 300hp?  I know the dohc 4.6's in the 90's had about 305hp but weren't in every single GT.

ya but that dont make it a half-assed car ford wasnt trying to build a all out race car they were just building a good looking car with some descent power that they sold that shit out of. dont forget the vette didnt really get fast until the 03 z06. also the 03-04 cobras were & r one of the baddest cars every built for the price i mean come on 30k gets you 390 rated hp which was really more like 420hp & a pulley, tune & intake you up around 600hp sounds like a great car to me just my opinion.

Without a doubt the 03-04 Cobras are one of the baddest cars on the road for the money. But the Corvettes were badass back in 56 when they were redesigned being one of the very first mass-produced cars sporting an engine that had 1hp per cubic inch. After like 1972 they really sucked but then again so did every american car. The Vette came back to life in the 90's with the first ZR1's and the GrandSport.

the mustangs back in the 60' and 70's were great cars aswell for example the boss 302 & 429 the machs and orginal hi-po 289 mustang coupes alsozr1 was a 4valve motor that was very rare and so was the grandsport neither were produced in the quanity that the 03 z06 was which i really think is the best vette built all around i mean 12.2 and handles great for just over 40k really is a great car. both the 03 cobra and the 03 z06 r the epitome of bang for your buck from the factory.

worth the price.....i agree! I could take a 2,000 civic found on a used car lot....drop in a new motor 5K, trans, 2K, rebuild kit and forged junk 3K, turbo 4K, sticky tires rims, hood and windows....10K and have a 26K$ civic capable of 10s or even 9s witha few more grand (say...40K total) OR for 200K i could have a slower car like a Ferrari....if I had the money...id take the Ferrari any day..despite the 160K price difference and it being slightly slower.

the only reason its even close to the shelby is because of traction issues run both cars with slicks and shelby destroys it and look a hell of alot better while doing it. so yes defiantly worth it

the new gt500 runs 11.50s on et streets and 11.90s on stock rubber. the camaro is not running anything near those times
