I've always wondered if big helicopters with horizontal spouts could have made a difference. Flying on and off to cool down the structure.
Even today in similar fires it seems far quicker then sending men fully packed on numerous flights of stairs, carrying hoses, pumps, breathers and such.
WTC2 stood for almost an hour, with a fire that could've been taken out with a mere 2 lines....

I know a few soldiers and when they were going there they actually thought they might be able to help people (since their mission was to hold peace in the region so schools could be built etc.).
