  • TIME TO TAX BILLIONAIRES

  • we should abolish the senate.

  • laws should change

  • all politics are shit. no matter what

"political party", no matter who is president, its gonna be fucked.

  • The GOP isnt a party; it is a political cult. The Democratic Party is little better. These disruptive tactics are evident to anyone paying attention. The strategy is to break or overturn anything that doesnt give them their way. Institutions, processes of state it makes no difference. That stupid, USAUSA mantra?

What a laugh if every time those clowns drew a breath between USA, a few dozen people bellowed SUCKS!

  • @KeeperOfTheWord they are both pieces of shit

  • The Republicans don't need dirty tricks to take back Congress and the House. The Democrats are doing a great job at damaging their own reputation and compromising any positive consensus they have with the American people. They may have more money than the Republicans, which is likely to backfire on them with their continuance to support lobbyists and pork bellies in their political agenda. The Republicans silence is going to be deafening in the Democrats ears with everything they've done lately.

  • Mxyp, your points are very well made. How far is unfettered capitalism really compatible with Democracy?

That question needs to be asked.

  • Flatulence-

Agree, health insurance is a goldmine for the insurance companies. Exactly who is contributing to their profits?

    That's right,all of us.

Why is this state of things allowed to continue??

  • Mxyz- Right on about the artificial left VS right dichotomy.

And, sad but true, also your comments about citizens getting the government they deserve.

Why isn't universal healthcare a basic democratic right, instead of some Marxist/Communist mumbo-jumbo??

  • is it still illegal to smash the heads of republicans against the heel of my boot?

  • the thing americans worship is individual freedom.nobody dies from lack of insutance, thats just a socialist talking point.government has proven time and again it is unable to run anything

  • You are an ignorant fuckwad. Did you somehow miss the news about the harvard healthcare study, published in the American Journal of Public Health this year? The study found that no less than 24,000 americans DIE every year because they are uninsured and cannot afford healthcare. That's 2,000 people EVERY MONTH. The study says the real number may be as high as 40,000 people per year. Ignorant voters like yourself are killing more americans every month than bin laden could even dream.

  • idiot

  • How come the Senate has some much power in a Democracy. I thought the idea was that everyones vote had the same weight but a voter in Wyoming has the same power as 69 voters in California alone. When the junior Senator for Wyoming could technically shoot down a Bill supported by millions more voters than he or she represents, surely thats not very democratic .

  • I see a lot of wishful thinking here. ;)

America is and always has been a liberal country. Poll after poll proves this. Two-thirds of Americans want more environmental laws, more government help, more gun control, etc.

Because this information confutes the view that America is a conservative nation--which the right want to believe--conservatives ignore it.

  • america 40%conservative 38%independent 20%liberal. gallup poll oct 2009

  • Not Gallup. Real polls. We're 60-80% liberal on almost all issue.

Or look at it this way: America has Social Security. A conservative country would not have Social Security. :)

  • Yes, that is why gay marriage gets voted down in the most liberal states of all. Give me some examples, and the polls to prove it. All the polls I've seen show liberals to be a maximum of 20%, and 8% of registered voters. Take the current senate bill on health care, several recent polls show 60-70% in opposition. Americans as a whole do want health care reform though, real reform, not the phony tax bill.

  • No wonder Social Security and Medicaid are so unpopular! ;)

"The Progressive Majority: Why a Conservative America Is a Myth" by Media Matters is the latest study.

  • MEDIAMATTERS LOLno wonder you are so out of touch with reality.i hope you are able to get some counciling after the2010 elections.

  • Or you can look at the demographics of the two parties.

The Republican Party is mostly aging white males from the South.

The Democrats are almost everybody else.

  • Independents make up over half the country. According to three recent polls, when asked in 2010 would you vote for a republican or democrat 58-62% said republican. One only has to look at history, the power shifts back and forth.

  • soon you will be forced to come live in realityland with the rest of us

  • Media matters lol. I think I'll rest my case on that one.

  • And what an airtight case it was, sir. :)

I highly recommend Media Matters to any normal readers out there. It offers debunkings of the latest right-wing memes, sometimes within minutes of their appearance. Thank God for the internet.

  • if i were a senater....

i propose an mmendment to make schizzophrenics pay extra for each of the "VOICES, STOP the VOICES" that they hear, you need sixty senators to tell me im wrong, hold on while i think of something random, i'll make it involve donuts

  • Judd Gregg is an asshole.. he's also trying to block the bill that would audit the federal reserve. He is an evil man.

  • Republicans a religious terrorist cult.

  • man i hate google ads

  • Is anybody who pays health insurance premiums aware that their money is being used to stall the government, and that their premiums will actually go up because of it?

    ... anybody? anybody care?

  • If everyone was like-minded we could simply cancel our insurance plans, then refuse to pay any subsequent medical bills until the system is reformed to our satisfaction. Voting with the dollar is pretty much the only option we have available.

  • There needs to be a political offensive to point out what is going on.... I guess the media isn't on board at all... for fucks sakes!

  • is that the medias job,to be political?really?

  • is pointing out facts political?

  • what is factual about a media driven political offensive?politics rarely equal facts

  • You are right. What I meant by political offensive was that the accuracy of reporting needs to be there. Through political reporting. To report only one side, or a selected portion of the whole is misleading at best and political propaganda at the worst.

  • people should be able to express their political views on air, if desired

  • i like your way of thinking massive boycott of sorts sticking it to the man would be so sweet

  • The unfortunate thing about that approach is that many people NEED health care. It's like asking everybody to hold their breath until they stop charging for oxygen. Health care should be a basic right.

  • True Joxman2k. But it's my understanding that it is illegal for a hospital or clinic to deny healthcare services for someone who needs them. There may be stipulations on that which I am not aware of.

Either way, it would be impossible to rally the majority of Americans to financially boycott the healthcare industry. The US population is too big and diverse. Sometimes I wonder if the US is just too big to be a functioning democracy.

  • I agree.

    :P

  • if everyone was likeminded we could simply stop paying taxes until the government adhered to it's constitutional limitations.

  • Uneducated blowhards. Try to do a little research before you speak.

  • Hey are you a libertarian or a Bush type Republican? I believe in Socialized medicine but Ron Paul conservatives are fine by me because it's even more important that we get this neo nazi security state off our backs and check out some of the videos of our glorious riot police beating innocents to get more info on that. No difference between Obama and Bush on this regard.

  • it's just another political view from yours. of course it sounds crazy to you. you sound crazy to them. attacking them with comments won't help your side win at all; in fact this comment probably only feeds the flames. good job, Comrade! :)

  • My question for people that support government health care; do you really think the government can run health care? Think about it, what have they actually ran with out screwing it up or making it way more expensive than it needs to be? And who really wants higher taxes? The only way to pay for this is higher taxes. They are already going to go up to pay for all the bail outs.

  • Let me ask you this. are you aware that no change can bankrupt the system? Are you aware that insurance companies are screwing us over and have been sonce Lord knows when? Do you work for the insurance companies? why are you so dead set in costing us money and making these sleazy insurance companies rich?

  • I live in a country with a government health system (which I top up with some private insurance). I don't mind paying a little bit extra in tax for the peace of mind that I can get medical care whenever I need it without fear of bankruptcy, or being dropped from insurance etc.

  • How much extra tax would you say it is? which country do you live in? How did government health care come about there?

  • @cbremer83

USPS - For Half of a dollar I can walk a few feet to my mailbox, and in a few days the freaking piece of mail can go across the country right to someone elses mailbox. everyone in the country gets to enjoy this. So there, they run the freaking post office.

  • @cbremer83

I kind of like the superb care I get at my local V.A. hospital for free because I went to Iraq and ... had a blast.

The Government runs the V.A. and they do a pretty good job in my opinion Mr. Sean Hannity's parrot.

  • Good seeing you out and about.. LOL Loved the had a blast part. Thanks bunches for your service seriously I don't think I get to say enough to the men and women who deserve it... anyway I agree with you 100% I was a military wife for many years and the care I got was top notch.

  • @cbremer83 In The United States, who has a free market in healthcare, the government spends more per capita on healthcare than EVERY OTHER COUNTRY that has some sort of government health system. It doesn't take a genius to realize that inelastic markets are not efficient as free markets.

  • medicaid works. who runs that?

  • These tricks have been around a long time - these aren't new.

Sad and pathetic and petty, yes - but not new.

    -Qes

  • The GOP is essentially the electoral arm of the corporate lobby. Make no mistake about who their TRUE constiuents are!

  • The canadians that aren't happy with their health care, as the ones who vote for Harper - canada's Bush-wannabe

  • I recently talked to 1 Canadian guy, software developer. I asked him what he thought about the Canadian health care system when compared to USA. And he was fairly confident that Canadian one was better.

  • Reid should just forget this and go straight to Reconciliation. It's just not worth all the compromise and delay from moving on to the next thing in the agenda after healtcare.

  • I concur. Enough consensus building. They work for us,and we have consistently polled above 60%as wanting the public option (and not some watered down compromise version). Time to dig in. Want to see cooperation? Use reconciliation to show what happens when you don't bargain in good faith. It's not like the repubs didn't do it when they were busy rubber stamping GW/the lobbyists.

  • Republicorrupticans.

  • Speaking of dirty tricks, Obama was sold like a new brand of ice cream. Tastes the same as the old. Now look at the polls Obama and his health bill are sinking like the Titanic. The American people can make up their own minds. The real dirty tricks were played on them.Grab a lifeboat.

  • don't be bitter ... it leads to botox

  • this is pretty pathetic, and also the reason why all republicans are to blame, they elected these people into office. And these senators are making it into a game

    just disgraceful

  • This is nothing other than typical for these neocon fanatics. They had the teabag protests organized before Obama was even sworn in as president. In fact, during the 90s, they ran the 'Arkansas Project' to find anything impeachable against Clinton. These people are fanatics who'll stop at nothing for personal power.

  • why do the dems want partisanship so bad if they dont need a single republican vote?

  • They don't, they couldn't care less about that. Watch the news, the fight is within the party itself. It's the left verses the far left and moderates. Take the House for example, only 1 republican voted for the bill.

  • wow, you should tell that to the old people on government run medicare, that they are in a nazi healthcare system.

  • you sir, are a brain washed idiot.

  • Sounds accurate to me, the polls are proof of it. Liberals entire lives evolve around blaming others for their shortcomings. I don't understand why you guys don't just go to a country that suits your views. The majority of Americans are conservative, only 20% self-identify as liberal. Liberals hate the constitution, hate personal property, hate capitalism, hate family values, hate the right of self-defense, hate the bill of rights, hate productive ppl in society, and the list goes on.

  • I think you maybe confusing liberalism with communism. Its a common mistake made in the US, but it really isn't thee same thing. Read a little bit first, then you will actually be able to say something worthwhile

  • I can make up stuff too.

  • What did I make up? Look it up for yourself, or I'll send you a few dozen links if you'd like.

  • tool.

  • Wow, what a clever response.

  • well your comment down there didnt warrent one. its clearly mental.

  • Like I care what some inbred, snaggle-tooth Brit has to say. Our nation was formed as a result of you tyrants. When you agree with me is when I'll be concerned and rethink my position.

  • wow, a little off topic there sport. read the hypocrasy of the comment i first replyed too. you think people who dont think like you should migrate to another country yet i bet you hate imagrents who come to america. double standards much?

  • I'm actually all for legal immigration. You need to invest in a good spell check. Firefox maybe? "hypocrasy" "imagrents" I thought superior education was one of the things you guys claim to have over the average American.

  • well no i just type too fast for my own good half the time, an no... actually i dont think im superior to anybody, perhaps thats a difference between us.

  • @icecoldbeerr

""Our nation was formed as a result of you tyrants.""

Lol, America was formed to avoid the anti-slavery laws that were being brought before the courts and Parliament in Britain at the time. The US had to have a civil war 60 years later to abolish slaver LONG after everyone else had abolished it.

PS. US Congress was LESS representative of your people, than Britiahs Parliament was BEFORE your country existed.

Americans have been brain-washed for 200 years.

  • @SatwaMan Thats not true, the anti-slavery laws that were being made in england ONLY applied ON English land. So in ALL the colonies slavery was still perfectly legal and america was a colony, so the anti-slavery laws wouldnt of even affected us. America's politics are funny to say the least but england is NO example of a moral & just country.

  • It saddens me to see Americans like you. Those that think like you are few and far between, but the fact that one of you exist breaks my heart. You have a very distorted view of the history of America, and especially the civil war.

  • that's why Obama won the because the majority americans are conservatives.

and about what republitards hate i could write a 10 page essay on that.

  • Would you like me to provide you with a few dozen polls starting back in the 30's all the way to recent? Independents are overwhelmingly conservative, it is they who elected Obama. By the way, his approval rating is in the 40's now. People were so disappointed with Bush that Pee Wee Herman could have beat McCain. Do some research before opening your mouth. Poll after poll after poll show less than 20% of the populace self-identify as liberal, and only around 10% of registered voters. Look it up!

  • socialist nazi.

Lets stop for a second and engage your brain. Now, can you see whats wrong with this. Feel a bit silly now. As for the rest of your post, well thats just tosh which doesn't actually say anything. Well done

  • Shouldn't the fact that according to every single reputable poll the American people oppose the Senate and House bill by a large majority count for something?

  • just got a notice from Anthem Blue Cross of California... My monthly insurance rate is going up 23% starting next month... I have not used this insurance in over a year, and yet my rate climbs 23% per month.... WTF is wrong with this country???

  • These are the same hypocritical Repubes who wanted to get rid of the filibuster when they were in power.

  • Why isnt the MSM picking this stuff up? Liberals need to mobilize and demand this stuff be brought up in the media. You know damn well they would if it was Democrats doing it.

  • Only 20% of the country identify as liberal, so mobilize away. According to every single reputable poll conducted in the last several weeks a large majority of Americans oppose both the house and senate bills.

  • Sauce, pl0x.

  • Its over your party will never gain the Presidency in its current form. The Republicans have no legs their last gasp is to try to pull the country into the pit with them. Which they will fail at. That person the Republicans attack is themselves. I almost feel sorry for them.

  • Actually, according to several recent polls when asked in the 2010 elections would you vote for a republican or democrat a clear majority said republican. Only 20% of the country are liberal. Polling shows independent voters are leaning to the right by a strong majority. Independents are by far the largest class of voters. Barry's approval ratings are in the 40's currently. VA, NJ, and NY 23rd being recent examples of this. The 23rd candidate ran on a conservative platform.

  • Keep hanging onto all that shit, its all you've got. Theres bigger things than politics. In that sphere your side has lost for eternity. Once you lose that fight theres no coming back from it. That red hot desire and rage Republicans feel is going to bring them back to the top is in fact destroying them from the inside out. Theres too many strings to pull, too many lies to tell, too many payoffs to make. The strings get tangled and you dont see the train in the tunnel.

  • Keep repeating this Lie! Maybe it will come true in a thousand years. And, By the way,...keep voting against your own interests...just to satisfy your hateful nature.

  • I say let them make fools of themselves. America has rejected the Republican party and its failed leadership.

    Let them embarass themselves further.

  • It's not enough to just hope they dwindle away. With the unwavering support of fundamentalists and evangelicals, they really can get away with almost anything. We need to keep exposing their hypocrisies and lies or they will keep derailing our nation's recovery so they can blame Obama.

  • The GOP are a bunch a fucking babies and theyre the reason nothing is getting done in this country

  • Pretty simple. Get rid of the filibuster. Legislative minority rights? Our system is based on the projection of the voice of the majority. If we were worried about minority rights in the people we elect it would either make the role of president impossible or we would need more than one Executive leader. That doesn't sound too bad either... Our system is broken, the founders put in ways for us to change it. They knew there could be a time when it needs to be overhauled. It's time.

  • We need to cut and paste the Netherlands healthcare system into the US right now, TODAY!. Republicans be damned. Barack Obama and quite a few other democrats got elected to make certain changes and I say they should ram it down thier throats while they have the chance. No compromises, no cooperation. Have the republicans shown any willingness to work with the democrats on ANYTHING?!? Anyone who votes republican in 2010 and 2012 deserves exactly what they'll get. Nothing.

  • Republicans are almost retarded. Here's an example of a classic republican argument:

"Freedom, Facism, Nazism, Socialism, 9/11, Support the Troops, Freedom, Freedom, Dictator, 9/11, Freedom, Abortion, Jesus, Bible, Freedom."

    The End

  • lol that was soooo accurate it's like you just listened to a republican speech

  • Hahaha. They pretty much apply it to every topic too! Healthcare, the war, the economy, immagration...you name it.

  • wrong. all wrong.

  • Equal Voice? You fucking ran the country for eight years and fucked everything up!!! Respect for you? You shove religion down our throats and say we have NO RESPECT? What laws have been past that have taken ANY freedom away from you? Obama reinstated habeas corpus which you republicans took away!

  • Comment removed

  • no, what obama wants is to reform whats broken. so that heaven forbid if your mother gets diagnosed with anal cancer, she will get the health care that a human being and a citizen deserves and not get told to go die quietly. you republican closet bigets need to get over the fact that we have a black president...and you REALLY need to look up nazism and dictator becouse you dont know the definition

  • tehant1liberal - Are you kidding me? Are you that much of a freaking manipulative fool?Or do you think that we are all as dumb as you?

Come on dude. The Republicans are the ones who don't want debate on this. Are you so ignorant and blinded by your backward political ideology that you failed to noticed that was what the Senate vote as wall about: to just fucking discuss health care? And who voted against it? Your party.

By the, the Republicans are a minority party. There is need fore equality.

  • You can't spell and you can't count. The republican scum should be given a tax cut on funerals caused by suicide.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrrrr..!!!!

THEY ARE NOT WORTHY OF BREATHING THE SAME AIR AS ME

    BASTARDS!!!

  • This explains the "YOU LIE" outburst.

  • They don't live by the golden rule. What is good for the gander is never good for the goose.

  • I've lived in the UK and Canada.

Trust me, the U.S. "healthcare plan" is shit. Stop being afraid of socialized medicine, people.

Americans are being fed LIES about it being bad by the very people who profit from the industry while you people go broke or die.

    WAKE UP.

  • the republicans just know the sad truth about America. the steep majority of the population is absolute morons that are easily preyed on by fearmongers. case and point: Glen Becks popularity

  • Kill Bill

  • There isn't a single government agency or division that runs efficiently; do we really want an organization that developed the U.S. Tax Code handling something as complex as health care?

Health care equipment, drugs, and services may end up being rationed by the government. In other words, politics, lifestyle of patients, and philosophical differences of those in power, could determine who gets what.

    socialism=bad

    capitalism=good

  • @El3ctricPenguin

stay off the crack fucking moron. There is no capitalism in the health care industry currently in the US. It is corporate socialism. Every country has aspects of 'socialism'. Your roads, Security/police/army. These "social structures" are what makes a nation NOT part of the 3rd world poor countries. We in the west have these basics as given. It does not mean capitalism is gone. There are a few things that SHOULD not be based of profit margins. Health is one of them.

  • Profit motives, competition, and individual ingenuity have always led to greater cost control and effectiveness.

Provide a reason supporting your thesis statement.

also, you accused me of smoking crack, or whatever one does with crack. i copied my arguments directly, word for word, off of balancedpoliticsdotorg.

  • @El3ctricPenguin.

The Idea of capitalism is great. Cost control and effectiveness is what is should produce, in theory. There in lies your problem. In other industries it does happen that way. But in the USA, in the health care industry. THAT IS NOT HAPPENING. Your healthcare is one the worst in all the western countries. Its is outrageously expensive. So the government is bringing out another CHOICE for you people, it will COMPETE against current Health Care. This will lower costs. BUT (cont)

  • @El3ctricPenguin

(cont pt.2) BUT.. competition is the LAST thing the current people running health care wants. They have nice deal going. They do what ever the fuck they want. This is NOT capitalism. I am NOT arguing against capitalism. I am trying to tell you people you DO NOT HAVE capitalism. The health industry is closer to fascism. VERY good for the company, totally fucked for the people. Its never black and white. job of a corporation is to make profit. More then the previous year. (cont)

  • You seem to be having trouble telling the difference between political theory and economic theory.

  • @El3ctricPenguin

(cont pt.3) Profit. If the final goal of the Health care industry (its just another corporation). Best practice for the healhcare industry in terms of making profit is to DENY claims. THIS is the practice of ALL insurance company. They will be efficient at it, ingenious even. That will be their goal and all creativity will go towards way to DENY more claim thus making greater and greater profit. This is vastly different from say the car industry. I dont think you understand.

  • No, I understand perfectly. You have a very compelling argument, although you got upset at certain points.

  • @El3ctricPenguin; I'm sorry ghostandgoblins came at you like that; you deserve respect. I think he reacts this way because the more caustic proponents of your point of view have set this kind of tone. I have even found myself embroiled in nonsensical name calling fits. I am not a Dem, though I lean more that way...on most social Issues, and I actually share some of your concerns, but to me, it's a matter of priorities. I believe this must be Done, and we can work out the Bugs as we move forward.

  • Thank you very much ijitduun. I truly hope America can work together to provide for the best solution for the current health care issue.

  • @El3ctricPenguin; My elders come from third world countries; I've noticed the links between the laissez faire attitude of the ruling classes and the stifling conditions under which those populations exist. Of course capitalism is good (checked), but what makes The US and all the other industrialized nations so much more livable are the social safety nets that benefit everyone, rich or poor. You should read Upton Sinclair's work, and imagine where we would be if tings were still like That.

  • Ever heard of Enron? The private government contractors in Iraq and Afghanistan? Contractors who over charge the government (actually the tax payers) for goods and services that are way above the market price?

Why don't you just consider just for a minute that peoples' health is not a commodity and that it is not best left to the market about how their health will be taken care of. In my opinion, leaving the quality of people's health care purely to market forces is immoral. Think about it.

  • Morality is not an opinion.

I agree with what you're saying, but applying universal health care to America, right now at least, would be disastrous. Except for one thing about the market. Allowing a profit motive to exist will create innovation and produce the best solution available. This is why we don't allow monopolies.

  • actually morality is an opinion. name me just one moral that you think is absolute and eternal.

that aside i dont think the profit motive is the best thing in every situation. you wouldn't want a profit motive based fire department would you? think about that. i think health care is similar it's just one of those things that shouldn't be profit motive. drug companies however i think should be for profit. health insurance, however should not. it's just too prone to abuse.

  • What do you consider absolute? Is absolute something that is always there or is it something that is always the same.

For example a rock will always be there w/ out human interference. However the rock that is there will not always be the same rock, weathering, erosion naturally occur. Nothing in this world is exactlly the same as it's previous form. Be it changes by Human's or changes caused by nothing more than time passing.

  • it was kind of my point. electric penguin claimed morality is not an opinion that it is not subjective. i wanted him to give me an example of one rule or moral that was not subjective, that was absolute, common throughout all time, societies etc etc. i'm fully aware nothing is absolute, which was kind of my point when i asked penguin the question.

  • Here is the not-so-funny joke about that: in 1993,94 cost was not an issue, yet the same group of people still fear mongered, lied, distorted, and lobbied hard to kill the Clinton health care effort.

We are not talk about health research by the way. That will not be affected by universal care. The only innovation that will be stifled by allowing the govt option are the new ways in which the for profit industry will seek find new ways to raise premiums while reducing coverage.

  • PROFIT IS NOT EVIL

  • It is if there people are dying because of it, and there are other options. Protecting that business model is pure greed at the expense of human life.

  • i drove by my local hospital yesterday i did not see a single person dying on the front lawn

  • You weren't looking, then.

  • Profiting in an of itself is not evil. However, profiting from human misery and put profits above meeting basic human needs is very immoral, unethical, unjust and beyond evil.

  • if you want real misery,in anything let government run it.

  • You're right..it's obvious the republican part of the government runs your mind, and you're miserable.

  • lol is that your rebuttal ? really ?university of michigan class of 83,and a registered democrat.partisan lemmings like you are the problem.

  • exweez - are you really naive enough to believe that it would be better for the private sector to run things like our national security, overseeing our monetary system, the safety of our food and drugs, airline and transportation safety, our entire transportation system (including infrastructure, funding, maintenance, and laws), our weights and measuring standards, etc?

Have you actually thought it through about the implications of that?

Or are you just parroting the mantra that the govt is bad?

  • I happening to believe that access to healthcare is part of the general welfare of our country which is a principle spelled out in the preamble to our Constitution. Having a significant portion of our population that is not able to access healthcare because the interests of private enterprise trumps their right to life and good health is morally and ethically wrong.

  • lol naive?the fed doing a great job?where i live the roads are shit.fantastic security that allowed two un invited people into the whitehouse, that security?or do you mean the security that allows millions to enter our country illegally?have YOU actually thought about anything?or are you just parroting the liberal mantra that the government will save you from making your own decisions and living with the conseqenses, good or bad?weakling

  • Yes, naive.

1.) What private enterprise would want to invest in roads? And if they did how would they make a profit since that is what corporations are all about? What would happen to the roads if that company goes out of business & who would bother to fix them?

    2. All in all, outside of the tabloidish and lurid story of the Salahis, how many other breeches in Secret Service security to you know about? How many presidents have been killed or shot because of the breeches?

  • 3.) Since when has this country ever had a policy of closed borders? Have you ever thought about the demand side of the illegal immigration problem in this country; that it is often the businesses (private enterprise) that encourages illegal immigration by employing them to do jobs because they know the immigrants will work for a lower wage (cutting costs to make higher profits)?

  • unemployment is over 10% so exactly what is the demand side of illegals.

  • Were you born yesterday exweez? Seriously. This country's problem with illegal immigration goes back way way before this current economic crisis you clown.

My arguments seem to go way off into tangents for you because you have the one-track, right wing, ditto-head form of thinking. Plus, those "tangents" actually did address each of your concern of alleged govt incompetence. But why should you bother with that? You seem to have very little regard for the facts anyway.

  • And the point about illegal immigration was that it is fueled by our capitalist system. It is all about supply and demand. The reason why it is not stopped by our government is because we really don't want them to.

  • Screw your left vs right childish explanation about govt. I subscribe to the mantra that we get the govt we deserve. If a give government runs like shit who is there to blame but the people of the country? The government is a very accurate representation and reflection of the people of a given country.

  • do you have ADD or somthing?your arguments go off on so many tangents it is a waste of my time.i subscribe to no mantra.i subscribe to the constitution, and the american experiment of a constitutionally limited republic, the rights of the individual, not groups.

  • Amen

  • exweez - Profiting off of the sick and injured is pretty evil and lowdown.

  • insurance industry profit margin 2009 2.2% ranking 35th of all US industries.forbes ocy.2009

  • Insurance covers many areas. We are not talking about auto, home or flood insurance....we are talking about healthcare insurance. And it is a goldmine.

  • instead of just puking up a stupid comment,do some research, educate yourself.the stats i was siting are HEALTH INSURANCE INDUSTRY numbers.

  • I think if you did your research then you would realize that those numbers are fudged big time. You are reading stats straight from the health care industry lobby rather than legit profit numbers. They are measuring their profits against total health care spending and not their company revenues. You should also know that the companies also automatically skim 15-20% of customer premiums for administrative costs and profits.

Forbes of course would not tell you that because they are anti-reform.

  • "There is no capitalism in the health care industry currently in the US."

    Sure about that?

  • @El3ctricPenguin; Very well recited...now how 'bout some facts?

  • How about the U.S. income tax system? When originally implemented, it collected 1 percent from the highest income citizens. Look at it today. A few years back to government published a "Tax Simplification Guide", and the guide itself was over 1,000 pages long! This is what happens when politicians mess with something that should be simple.

  • "Free market" principles only work when either party can walk away from the deal without serious deliterious effect.

This is not the case with health care.

The only solution is to socialize it like the rest of the developed world.

  • "socialism=bad

    capitalism=good"

Do you understand how silly that sounds?

    That is like saying:

    "Hot dogs =Bad

    sausages=good"

You statement makes zero sense. They are not mutually exclusive.

I recommend reading some books as that was an appalling point of summation.

I recommend something like 'The Wealth of Nations' as a basic start.

Then perhaps something like the lion and the Unicorn for a view on 'socialism'

  • Don't even bother. All he knows is socialism is a bad word and he's not supposed to put his pee pee in another man's butt.

  • It's funny how you automatically assume something about me. You, sir, and are idiot :]

  • To be honest, I didn't even see your comment, only Tobs' reply.

  • it's okay. i forgive you :P
