one of the better covers ive seen on here, one thing that pisses me off about that song is that i love playing the 30 seconds and i wish they would have made it much longer on the record
this is what it would look like if meatloaf played drums. lol. but seriously, this is my favorite rush tune and you did it more than justice. tasteful stick twirl, btw
I think this is your best. I was actually just listening to this song, and it occured to me that it sounds pretty much impossible to play. The next thought was: "I wonder if Pauliewanna can do it." You did amazingly well.
You are doing a wonderful job. I have watched several of your videos and you are matching Neil just about note for note every time. I too have been learning Peart's songs as I have no band to perform with currently. You mentioned that you set a goal to learn 100 Rush songs in a year. That is amazing! It takes me a month or more (one or two nights a week) to learn a single tune. Keep up the good work. You mentioned in a video about emailing you personally. How does one do that?
I take it you had Rush for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for the past several years. You are fucking amazing and make it look so smooth and effortless...I know it isn't. I'm going to commit my weekly crime now. Thank you for posting these songs. Hopefully you have worthy bandmates.
4:12 gave me a visual aide on a part of the song that always gave me a brain fart (when in doubt, play a fast tom fill). Overall, Pauliewanna makes it look easy, but sit behind the kit...
Even something like playing the lead hi-hat with your left hand is subtle (or not noticed by the non drummer). Thank you for helping me to figure some things out (if not to play correctly). -Paul By the way, where do you live?
..liked the stick twirl there at 5:11. Looks like you really like Moving Pictures! So far every song I've seen you play from that album has been pretty much on the money.
Wow!!! You nailed that one right on. I have a 5 piece and am glad to read that you said it could be done on a basic set like mine. Any chance you could do more rush songs on youtube?
I want to learn red barchetta on drums and i was wondering if anyone knows what symbols and toms and things i need to play it. If you do please pm me and tell me.
If you're careful, you could play Red Barchetta with three toms, two crashes, hi hat and ride cymbal. Whatever resources you have in terms of instruments, just use your good judgment to make it musical. When I first started, I had a four piece kit with one crash, ride, hi-hat and I STILL attempted to play Rush. Just use some judicious accenting and you can make it sound good. Good Luck!
