It works well back when lag was a huge concern, but it was patched later so that lag wasn't so bad.
Guilds actually changed servers due to the lag on this encounter, thus the improvisation came up.

hey i made this video! yeah i know it was a drood staff.. the only reason i had it equiped was for the NR.. at the time we thought we needed NR for some reason. I believe we were one of the first guild to execute this strat successfully
