I've probably watched this movie over 100 times. It is in my top 5 out of my 200 favorite movies. I love it so much. The messages are so powerful. It is uplifting, and strongly depicts the ups and downs of any intimate relationship, in a very profound and creative way.

If you've only seen the movie once, watch it again. And again. You'll be astounded at how many subtle details are hidden in the film, and the way it is choreographed.

Just saw this movie again recently. Still one of the best metaphors for cognitive dissonance and denial after a relationship's demise that I've ever seen, in any form. The lesson they learn at the end of the movie - that it's "okay," and to laugh - is something we could all benefit from learning imho. But for that to happen, we have to realize what they did through the surreal events in the film: that the memories we banish because they're too painful are also the ones we should most cherish.

I always thought Jim Carrey is only good at comedies, and he is more a comedian than an actor. Then I saw this, and I realized, he is one of the best actors of all time. Almost better actor than a comedian, but he is amazing in both. The whole movie is wonderful! It makes me hate all of those "big messaged" films that hollywood makes and calls a drama. The most beautiful, and the saddest story, and movie ever made.

@WertzuHun I totally agree. Of course, I liked comedy movies he did, especially Dumb & Dumber, which I watched a lot as a kid, but a lot of them were pretty cheesey. His role in this, though, was absolutely great. I thought he did a great role as Truman in The Truman Show where he still has the upbeat personality but in a serious context, even if it is one of those "big messaged" films, because it was for a good reason and and hell it was 1999.
