its just when we tell you religious beliefs the way we see... you feel like an idiot for believing it. Not exactly trying to demean you or your religion
Given that Atheists are a minority, I guarantee you you'll find more videos on Youtube with other religions explaining why their religion is superior or why you should believe in their religion.
@zeroshift04 Hmm, you are correct. More people does increase the chance of more videos being made. You have proven that all atheists are good at math! The Atheist community rejoices!
@aileanjeune Sorry I don't follow. Just in case you don't understand my previous statement, I said there are going to be more videos with other religions that believe their religion is superior. Unless you replied to the wrong comment if not can you please explain your comment, it doesn't seem relevant to what I said.
@zeroshift04 While I believe I may have misunderstood your statement, I was replying by stating that other religions, who do have more numbers than atheists, are likely to have more videos because their numbers are larger. It was a snide comment suggesting that just because there are more videos supporting other religious views doesn't justify anti-religious videos posted by atheists.
Why do Atheists need to tell people how dumb and angry they are? XD Oh man... you just described religion, dude! The loudest dumb thing that's shoved down everyone's throats. You don't HAVE to watch these vids or ready any related books. Bloody double standards.
We are not angry we want to live in a world where people don't depend on a magic person in the sky to help them fix their problems. No magic barriers or supernatural forces are at work against or for humanity, and in order to further our species it is important to lift ourselves out of bronze age ways of thinking.
why? he probably sees that religion get's in the way of so many things and wanted to point them out. so you can understand true human potential and do something, instead of waiting for it to magically happen... so you can live life to it's full potential, not what god allows you to do. he is not saying theists are stupid, but that they should see what they are missing while waiting for God's pass.
Most religions do not preach that things will magically happen for anyone. That is a misinterpretation, even an excuse for laziness or failure. God never helps anybody when they can do it themselves. Moses couldn't part the Red Sea, perform all those miracles, etc. You are correct that this is the view of many misguided theists, but it is not the view of the religion itself.
well the point of my post was life's full potential, not that they wait for stuff to happen. The limitations are also useless, except from the obvious ones of course like don't kill, steal n stuff.
@GenralPatton411 You're right. The way atheists go about bashing other religions does make most people hate them. I have no problem with atheism, but when I see some kid say, unprovoked, "Yea, I'm an atheist," I think the kid is just troubled and needs attention. Which is true a large percent of the time. Hate only causes hate.
because some kid said he was an atheist? You see him being proud of his views in a world where he can loose friends for having them and you feel sorry for him. Well, I do too, not because he's 'troubled and needs attention" but because he needs someone to talk to about religion, or lack thereof. A young atheist almost always feels alone because everybody is afraid to say that they are an atheist at that age. You want to help him, try to talk him out of it, he'll have fun with that.
yes I did, you where saying that a kid said he was an atheist when he had no reason to say it. You thought it was because he wanted to sound better than you, but it was because he knew that if he didn't get it out of the way, there would be a good chance that he would be friends with you only to have you awkwardly stop talking to him when he told you later.
@aileanjeune yes, that's what I am saying. He knows that there are a good number of people out there that will dislike him because of his views and he wants to make them clear so that he can make friends that accept him for who he is. That's why he tells people.
And that's a good plan, just tell him to ignore the disdain from his peers that he might even look up to. That'll work, because atheists can't have there feelings hurt, right?
@checkplus That's a silly thing to say. There isn't any condition to being atheist that I know of that requires a person to have a heart of stone. His feelings can be hurt. Everyone's feelings can be hurt. Its just a part of life.
@aileanjeune it's called sarcasm. not everybody can just not care when people dislike them. The hardest thing for a young atheist is that he is looked down on by all of his peers, this is of course after he accepts his own mortality and informs his parents who could take it very badly.
@aileanjeune I see the sarcasm, but I'm not sure exactly what your getting at? that everybody else has it this hard? what makes it so hard for a theist at that age, I'm not trying to be condescending, I just really don't know.
@checkplus Ha no. I wouldn't say that atheists "have it hard." Nothing is either good or bad except that thinking makes it so. If they have something in the way of them getting jobs, being served at restaurants, if they are spit on in the streets, then they have outer forces standing in their way. If they are simply depressed because people don't agree with or accept what they believe, then that is their own doing.
@aileanjeune good point, again, they should just ignore the disdain! nobody should care that people don't want to be there friends, and that they will stop existing someday, and that there parent's might cut them off. But god forbid (lol) that a Christian should have to listen to someone talk about why they don't think god exists. Why don't the 13 year olds just take your existential views on suffering, that would make them happy.
One reason why atheist speak out is the same reason any group speaks out, to be heard. If atheists just sat back after the amount of momentum that is currently going on the movement for complete secularism could be lost, and that is all we (well I am sure there are people who want more) really want. For governments and religion to be as far away from each other as possible. Politics can be brutal at times, and unfortunately people's beliefs will be stepped on. That's the way it is sometimes.
@darkjaw17 I agree with everything you stand for. However, atheists must not put themselves in a bad light by bashing everyone else the way Christians have done over the centuries. In all of history, hate has never dispelled hate. Only love dispels hate. Don't be hating on other people for what they believe. Put what you believe out there as much as you want, but don't tell other people they're stupid for what they believe.
what in the video even nearly tried to convert Christians? That was obviously a retort to Christians always saying that life without a god would be horrible... Now, I do admit that atheists can be unreasonable in there efforts to try to convert people, but we tend to grow out of that.
The thing that you are missing is that Christians much more frequently attack science. They need to to keep their numbers, and the thing that suffers is knowledge, which we value to a great degree.
alright, fair enough, I can provide a distinction between atheists and theists in their efforts to convert each-other. Age.
There are pretty much no adult Atheists that try to convert theists. The people you see are largely 13-17 year old kids who really don't know any better. When an Atheist grows up, he realizes that it is not his job to push his religion, while in Christianity, a person is more inclined to try to convert people when he is older, especially CHILDREN.
@Yamakoto120 That really doesn't mean anything and it didn't come from anywhere. That's just a term you've heard used, and you don't know how to use it.
@aileanjeune oh yeah, and don't forget to remove all negative comments ! Another sign that you are a closed-minded person, is when you do not let other people disagree with you.
Atheists are angry because we have to live in a world where there is hate and inequality caused by a constantly debated idea that has no answer. The human race can not evolve socialy as long as religion remain.
In the UK all we have managed to do is to stop hating and fearing the Irish and started hating and fearing muslims instead so really not a lot has changed.
atheists have a reason to be angry.. we're living in such a dumb world full of stupid religious people killing eachother over fairy tales. it would piss you off, too, if it said in god we trust everywhere you look.
I guess what I meant was since my opinion on god and your opinion on god differ.. it doesnt make as much sense to you. but if it said "in sodomy and beastiality we trust" then maybe you'd understand.
plus, religious people are killing people and what not and are trying to "save" us and stuff. My option, if people are getting hurt, and nothing good is coming or is needed then we should stop it.
it is kind of an insult showing how much better atheist life is then christian life.. it makes christians angry because they wish they could do these things and they know its nothing but a fairy tale standing in between them. god, you're stupid lol..
what the fuck are you talking about? 'atheism would be good but I wouldnt want to hang out with atheists because theyre all dumb.' this guy is happy being an atheist and showing you what he gets to do that religious people cant.
you dont seem like someone I'd want to know or be with .. a whole bunch of atheists trying to make everyone else dumb.
you didnt say it exactly like I said in the first comment.. but you said it. and that master plan for everyone to stop beleiving that your lives revolve around fairy tale beings you must worship and become a scientist would make the world awesome.
man bullshit.... Athiests are hateful for 1 reason!!! WE ARE MUTED OUT OF SOCIETY! Every religion HATES us! I see religious ads on TV every day telling me what to do and that anything else will make me go to hell. If I tried to mke an athiest ad, every non-athiest would rise us and destroy me. They would cheat their way around the law system and I would end up in jail, or they would kill me...
Its because all religious people want to convert you and seem to think that you can't be a good person without believing in a god the video you are referring to is bang on
that is not true. Real religious people are concerned with their own spiritual path, and do not interfere with the beliefs of others.
Just as unhappy people have to put down other people to gain a fake sense of worth, pseudo-religious people (I will include atheists in this category) have to put down other people's beliefs or lack there of to give themselves a false sense of religious value.
