Does this have anything to do with Goosio, as featured in Final Justice (Featured in MST3K)?

That was the inspiration for the name, but that's pretty much it. When EchoDance was still going the background it was initially slated to have was gonna be a tiled background of pictures the scene with Goosio, but that unfortunately never came to fruition.
