For example, in the TS intro you see GDI are manipulative bastards too. Using the puppet leader Hassan to try to control Nod, and threatening him that useless things have a habit of 'disappearing'.

And for all we know, Nod is really trying to find the only way for humanity to survive the whole Tiberium mess. As the saying goes... if you can't beat em join em.
