The Order of the Arrow is an organization with secrets. It is not a secret organization. Yes, the ceremonies are safeguarded, but with permission from the Lodge Chief or Supreme Chief of the Fire, almost anyone can be admitted to an Ordeal Ceremony if good cause is presented.
The order of the arrow is a brotherhood of cheerful service. What I get out of it is the pride in doing good work to help others ... that's it. To read anything more into it, especially in a negative light, is ignorant.
Think you nim-rod! I am 34 years old! You can only get in as a boy-scout!Thats my point! Now I don't need it anyway! I've gone through more spiritual things then an ordeal! I am in the brotherhood of the priesthood as an lds member anyway! I feel the savior there! He is the ultimate source of spiritual awakening anyway! He is my compass and my guide! I'd rather be among the priesthood brothern anyday over some flawed program, because sometimes its members are chosen out of popularity not merit!
The ordeal can be a very spirital event. and yes sometimes members are chosen by popularity and that is kinda sad. Now I am a christain, and I really have nothing against peaple who devote there lives to God, but when has the Christain preist gotten together to do a national service project (Arrow Corps 5)? Which was organized by youth. I'd say that isn't a flawed program. One more thing, when my Brothers got back from Bridger-Teton they said they had never been so closer to god.
All scouts should be included! You are a secret comb! Why can't I prove myself! You already proved that OA is wrong! Not giving someone a chance because they don't get picked! You have about 50% or more of scouts who did'nt get picked that wanted to prove themselves, what a shame!
It is not about proving yourself, it is about helping your troop/crew and providing service to them. "For he who serves his fellows is of all his fellows greatest" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get elected by the adults in your troop/crew to go threw the ordeal, and during your ordeal think about your life, what you have done, are doing, and what you will do to help peaple.
i just started boy scouts and what the fuck! i loves it but it says right in the scout book there is to be no secret orginazations. thats just shit.
