  • I remember Fisher's Big Wheel, we used to have one in Chardon a longtime ago until they went out of business in 1993, plus my aunt and cousin used to live in Streetsboro and I also miss Geauga Lake and Sea World.

  • What is "Fishers big wheel"???

    RetroVintageItems27

  • @RetroVintageItems27 It was a general merchandise store like KMart.

  • Wow...GM still uses those sign frames (or else, I have never seen a new GM dealership). Also, is that you announcing the date??

  • @mattsplace85 Yes, that was me, I was about 11 yrs. old.

  • Love the fotomat stand...lol Thanks again!

  • OMG look at that Geagua Lake Traffic!!! I so remember these times! Thank you for having this video, thank you so much!

  • It is interesting to how much has changed in 20 years. Nearly every business in the video is owned by another company now or is completely gone. I hadn't even realized how different thing are. Nice vid.

  • That was fun to see the Photomat in the plaza again.

  • i live in streetsboro now and its incredible to watch this, im sixteen and now i feel like i was there in 1989, that was an amazing experience

  • I love the 1980's.I was born in 1994 but I love the cars and music from back then. You were so lucky to be living in that time.Someday i will own a 1980's car, maybe a 1983-1984 Honda Civic Hatchback.Cool!

  • Interesting. I went to the Ohio Sea World back in 1994 when I was 5. You lived out there?

  • Thanks for sharing this with us! I love Both the cars and music of that vintage, much better than things are today. Myself I was 19 at the time..o how I wish I could go back in time :)

  • Chevy Beretta @ 8:00 pretty much a new car back in 1989.

  • 5:52 is a Lincoln Town Car similar to the one you have now.

  • Growing up we had an econoline van too. oh what memories this brings. 2 days before my 12th birthday too

  • In 1989, I was driving a 1985 Buick Somerset Regal. That car would qualify for antique plates now!

We used to have a Big Wheel here too.

  • man take me back to this time! life was perfect back then... I was 8. I remember back then they used to play a lot more easy listening music on the radio. lol every 10 cars I see one of those GM station wagons, I still see them today. back then I used to think we'd have flying cars by now... man except for the internet and GPS the future sucks!

  • This part of Ohio hasn't changed too much since the early 90's, especially this part of Route 43. Very beautiful during the summer months, but dark and gloomy during the winter months. Macedonia was so boring growing up.

  • What model Panasonic camera did you have? And did you have it plugged into to the van? I heard alternator whine in the audio.

  • @uwtitanfan No, I was just using the battery pack on the camera. The audio was from the radio in the van recorded with an auxiliary mic held near the speaker. This was I believe a Hitachi full-size VHS camera rented from the video store. Previously we had rented a Panasonic, and then when we got our own camera it was an LXI from Sears.

  • @retrochad Ahhh, although that date stamp reeks of panasonic

  • @retrochad One of my family members own's a 1989 Ford Van just like the one in this old video and it still is a daily driver and your van had a r12 a/c system back then just so you know.

My grandma's van is who I'm talking about is just like this and It's all factory except for the engine parts

The radio is still there and the A/C has been fixed

    I like the old van's

This brings back memories for me too because I was a kid in the 90's and I remember going getting to start the van for her.

  • What kind of camera were you using? This is obviously before digital.

  • Now I know what my dad means when he talks about all the old cars really taking him back. Thanks for the cool old footage.

  • Oh I see, looks like a ford van.

  • What kind of car were you riding in?

  • @gajda1984 I think this was a 1989 Ford Econoline 150 conversion van with conversion done by "Van Express".

  • @retrochad One of the most popular family cars at that time! At least every other of my friend's families at that time and the beginning of the 90s had a conversion Ecconoline, Chevy Van, or Ram Van. my dad always had Chevy Caprices and I remember always complaining why he never got a van! I love caprices now though.

  • I vaguely remember even being in Aurora. I was 12 years old when I went there.

  • Ahh 1989. When things seemed so much simpler.

  • Wow, I was born exactly 1 year later.

  • @DrJohnBecker My cousin was born on this exact day.

  • Oh my God, a genuine Fotomat kiosk at 13:20

Those have gone the way of the dodo....
