These boat people pay BIG BUCKS to come to Australia. Hell, they even fly to Indonesia first. Then they have the nerve to complain about the processing?! We could send our Navy out there... So why don't you join the Afghan army ? It is about time these third world people stood up for themselves instead of always depending on the west. Fit young men of military service age should stay and fight just as we have done in the past. And don't blame the west for thir predicament, they are always fleeing western intervention or no western interventio.

@irrational11 Of course and that reasoning is that we cant continue help people from overseas countries to the detriment of our own , we have tens of thousands of homeless people in this country many with mental illness and yet we spend money on these refugees that studies have proven are a burden not a blessing.

@abidiyas Yes, we are 'lucky' to live in a country previously devoid of the kinds of ethnic conflict these people are fleeing. So now we're importing millions, yes millions, of diverse ethnic people who mostly have either (a) historical hostility to each other, or (b) *no experience* of living together in the whole history of the world.
Get ready for our own 'troubles' in the near future.
But where we can flee to, when the same thing's happening in all of Western civilisation?

Research shows that immigrants DO INTEGRATE into Australia. The children of immigrants tend to be more educated. E.G. Muslim immigrant men 25% and women 27% have higher education compared to the rest of the population 15% men and 17% women obtain higher education. However, discrimination still exists and Muslims have twice the unemployment rates. Please look at the research before buying into racist propaganda of 'Othering' it only wins votes for scare mongering politicians to obtain votes!
