  • Why is it that whenever I teach myself something, I always get it just wrong enough so that its undetectable to a beginner like e, but completely obvious later on? I've been doing this, thinking it to be a normal crochet stitch, for the past two months I've been crocheting. Could this be used in other stitches, like a half-double crochet, by just going into the back loop?

  • wo-ho! thanks!

  • LOL that is the biggest crochet hook i have ever seen on demo or anywhere else hahaa... wow..

  • great job! isn't this called "back loop" single crochet also?

  • Thank you for sharing :D very easy to follow steps most appreciated

    flo x

  • Thanks for showing this to us. :)

  • I love your videos! They are so helpful, and I love how clearly and slowly you do them so we can actually LEARN the stitches! It never helps when someone goes too fast.

Thank you for posting these :] They are really helping me out with my crocheting!

  • If you like this effect you should try doing a front post or back post stitch

  • That is the biggest crochet needle i have EVER seen.

  • You're welcome. I am glad you are going to give it a try. It is really easy and gives a really nice effect.

  • Thanks for the video, was looking to do something different with my hats. Have to try this and I will let you know how it came out.

  • whoa! that is a big crochet stick!

  • LOL yes it is! For anyone who wants to know it is a size Q19 and both Lionbrand and Boyce have similar ones.

  • that was good though - thanks

  • LOL yes it is a huge speed hook but it is great for teaching purposes and for making really quick afghans!

    Thanks for watching.

  • @patternknit The large crochet hook makes your movements so much easier to follow than if you'd been using a more conventional hook! Very much appreciated.

  • that crochet hook is a beast! love it! x

  • You are welcome chefhades. I am glad the video helped clear things up for you. Good luck with your pattern. I will be adding more videos with different stitches very soon.

    Cathy

  • i have a pattern that has a rib stitch in it and every time i think about making it i stop because the instructions are not clear about how to actually do the rib stitch. i googled crochet rib stitch, found this video and am ready to tackle that pattern. thanks! you've made it so clear. why don't these pattern books just say "singe crochet in back loop only"? thanks again.

  • That's funny, the crochet book I just got does say "in the back loop only" I never even knew it was called a "rib stitch"!
