  • @Bjorkkody3 Pet Sounds Sessions Box Set + Bootlegs

  • - Yeah if i had a man who could sing like that i wouldn't need sex- he could just sing and i'd be in heaven.

  • i love this series. very well put together. fortunately brian recorded all this extra stuff.

  • Love those piano chords

  • Rich, powerful, and so well designed musically and then vocally. LOVE the string track and the vocal piece that led to the string arrangement. Pet Sounds was truly an innovation.

  • Certainly one of the most beautiful pieces Brian ever wrote- and that moment b4

the bridge where Brian sings "listen...listen" is one of the most transcendent

moments in all of pop music.Pure genius.

  • don't talk put your head on my shoulder..... i love you!

  • most music listeners of today won't even begin to comprehend the complexity of this music, electronics are beginning to dominate what used to be people's creativity, times have changed for sure

  • Np wonder he went "round the twist"- he had Beethoven,Stravinsky,Mozart & Duke Ellington thrashing about in his head.

  • lol "Don't talk...." "That's ENOUGH."

  • I love Brian's early piano version. It totally conveys the feeling of the final recording, in an embryonic sort of way. I mean obviously it's played very simply, but that's obviously just his way of laying the foundations in a way that's easy to read musically.

  • @1:07 What song is that he's doing the harmonies for?

  • @buddybopper thats the vocal snippet he recorded for the song Dont Talk-He recorded it by himself but never used it on the final cut.

  • @buddybopper the harmonies are for Don't Talk he just didn't include them in his final mix

  • @buddybopper

I think i heard about Brian doing that vocal overdubbing clip to show the session musicians what the general "feel" of the track should sound like.

  • Mind is blown!

  • @BehindTheSounds He wasn't your every day hippy - he cared about being polite and decent and created some great music

  • brings me to tears :'(

  • If anyone is interested I uploaded a mix of this song with the 1:05 harmony in it. It isn't perfect (I only spent an hour or so editing it) but it may be worth listening to lol.

  • listen to bullion - don't talk!!!

  • I am pretty sure that 1:05 - 1:25 is the most beautiful vocal piece I have ever heard - and it isn't even in the song!

Pet Sounds IS the greatest album ever made...nothing comes close and nothing probably ever will.

  • @rab2591 I wish he would release the whole thing bc that part is amazing

  • @rab2591 you said it

  • I think this is my favorite song of all time.

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs that has been written in the last half of the 20th century (maybe ever from my auditory perspective). WOW....talk about DEEP!! I feel Brian knew about me, even before I was born!

  • Nice video

  • brings me to tears

  • Pet sounds for me, is a brian wilson solo album with the bbs on backing vocals. Its hard to beleive that one man could have that much talent musically.!

  • he's the best

  • rocks Debussy!

  • i wonder if brian and the boys could ever make another album as great as pet sounds?

  • nope

  • True.

  • @ChumpJoe Don't know about the boys, but in my mind Brian already made a better album. SMiLE

  • These videos are done so beautiful. When will you got around to do the next?

    Thanks for putting them up

  • I like how Brian caught himself, "Shit" "I mean Shoot," he was probably trying to sound professional around the wrecking crew.

This the only session he does that. Others are full force and anything comes out of Brian. lol

  • 4.00

this is heaven on earth ! Never before and after will I never hear anything as beautiful as this..

He must have had some contact with the powers above because this is simply out of this world..

And at that age and without no one to copy...

    wow

    Chief 1

  • yes ,it is but if there are sharps in the key signature you need a natural to cancel the sharp maybee thats what he means.

  • Sorry, didn't mean to be offensive. But the last time I saw him, he was in sad shape. But the good part is, he made a comebac k. I know you are only 25 and maybe a family member, but seeing Brian perform was a high point in my life, even though it was the worst in his!

  • At 1:06 !

That vocal piece is amazing. So cool how he had the sounds in his head way before recording...

  • The magnitude of heartfelt emotion expressed by Brian's vocals and the strings from 4:10 and on...almost too much emotion for the soul to handle.

  • Exactly !!!! It;s equisite, and it Is almost too muchto handle. But thank God he did it.JHP

  • Great vid. Well done.

  • This was done with a lot of skill and love (much like the album it celebrates). Thanks.

  • This is so esquisite John jhp

  • It's too phoenomenol almost to grasp what he has done here....in 1965 I was at primary school singing along to Old Farmer Buck on BBC Radio....and at the other side of the world Brian Wilson is creating music that is mind blowing. I have been a fan all of my life and even have his hair drier I got after a concert (amazing eh) ......but I now believe Brian done all his greatest music in a five year period (maybe six) ....his mind must have been amazing in that time.

  • my Pet sounds favorite song...a real pop symphony GREAT VIDEO!!!!!!!

  • Incredible album, and great insight, and REALLY well directed. Did Ken Burns have a hand at this?!

  • Thank-you. I really appreciated this. Even though I have listened to this LP so many times, your series gives me yet another deep appreciation for the work.

  • Pet Sounds is the greatest album of all time! no doubt!

  • dude thank you so much. keep doin what your doin. make behind the SMiLE!!!! that would be great.

  • Brian gives much credit for his studio skills to Jan Berry (Jan & Dean), who was a brilliant arranger/producer.

  • Well, of course Brian worshipped Specter and hung around his sessions when he was producing. So I would say he was most influenced as a producer by Specter. He may have more influences production wise, but I can't think of any right now.

  • Brian was/is a wonderful piano player!

  • Wow!

Thanks for posting. I love this Album.

It would have been real cool to be around that studio when Brian constructed the songs.

  • The master at work.Listen and learn.

  • couldn't have put it better.

  • Cheers!

  • Thanks so much for this great series. I love Brian's piano playing and I love these videos.

  • I never knew that clip that starts about 1:07 in was all Brian. I always assumed it was the group.

  • There's a bootleg track of this session where you can clearly hear Brian laying every single vocal track by himself.

  • @BehindTheSounds that fact makes his incredible genius even more astounding. This guy is better on one ear than most people are with two :)

  • This is great, thanks!

  • This is so very cool. Thanks for posting!

  • Thanx for this video...Brian Wilson he's so great in a studio !

  • Very well made!
