Actually, the original Midnight Express was Dennis Condrey & Beautiful Bobby Eaton. Condrey left the NWA (to team with Randy Rose) & was replaced by Sweet Stan Lane.
ACTUALLY, no. Condrey and Rose tagged together in 1980, had a program going with Norvell Austin & Brad Armstrong. Austin turned on Armstrong and joined Condrey and Rose to become The Midnight Express stable.
@rrlift I got the story straight. If you go by the stable, it was Condrey, Rose, & Austin. If you go by a normal team, it would be Condrey & Eaton, because when Condrey & Rose originally teamed, they didn't use the Midnight Express name until Austin joined.
@wrestlemaniac82 Early on, when it became a trio of Norvell/Randy/Dennis, Norvell rarely wrestled in the trio. they'd act like he was going to wrestle this time, but he'd wind up as the 2nd on the side. Rose/Condrey were always the main team and they were top dogs in Continental well before the Midnight Express days. Through much of the MIdnight Express run, Norvell was used as a mouthpiece and outside antagonist. I think they had a period as a larger stable as well, before reducing to a trio
very nice

Even back in 1987, Shawn Michaels still knew how to sell a back injury.

I loved watching this stuff as a kid.
However, I remember being confused why the heels were always allowed two in the ring & the were always only allowed one.
Thanx for the memories.

Condrey and Rose were the original Midnight Express and it started with them and Norvell Austin, along with Jim Cornette as their manager.

The match aired in 1988...it was a T.V. taping. It did take place in 1987 but it didn't air on ESPN until 1988.
