It's funny how much their music from that time still sounds fresh today, as compared with a lot of music at that time, now sounds dated! Peter sounds great here, probably not a lot of drugs available in Japan, amazing what he could do when was not high!
@nockuout1 No offence intended on your playing, but that wasn't really my point. I was actually talking about Eric Singer too!!! I was surprised that a drummer of your longevity thinks that a professional musician with the CV Eric Singer has "sux".
that actually was probably the best solo i ever heard peter play!!! peter had technique, but he always trying to to be to flashy back in those days, so his technique and true ability got lost in the hype. my personal opinion though, the original line up will always be my favorite, but eric singer is the best drummer kiss has had.
@nockuout1 For someone who claims to have been playing drums for 31 years, your comment that "Eric sux" is so off the mark. Someone with that guy's CV clearly doesn't suck. You got one thing right: John Bonham was great.
just think: this was originally Paul's song that was given to Gene by Bob Ezrin after hearing Paul's demo. can you imagine what the song would sound like if Paul'd kept it? no fucking way it'd be as cool as this!
I saw this back on TV in the summer when I was like 10. KISS was my favorite band. This was like actually seeing them in concert. I was dumb-struck!!! Thanks for posting this!!! You've made my day. :)
@nockuout1 I agree. I think Peter's overall contribution to KISS was overrated, largely by himself. As an original member he will always have the prestige of helping create the most iconic rock band in hstory. But, as he proved in the late 70s, he was a weak link. To be fair to him though, he could play damn well back in the day! This concert recording was shelved, but they did use I Want You and Beth on the "official" KISS Alive II.
Criss was essential and a more than capable drummer from the beginning until about '78 .And a truly likable character . After that not so much, IMO . The facts speak for them self . Not the way I'd liked it to have gone, but gone that way anyways :(
holy shit.. I had never heard a PC drum solo prior to just now, but damn - teh skillz!
