How is a child able to opt out of religious indoctrination by their parents? Does the constitutional right to the freedom of religion not apply to them? Are they less than free people? I think the willingness of religious people to exploit the credulity of young children demonstrates a terrible lack of moral fiber. A decent and honorable person would realize that no child is in a position of evaluate religious dogma objectively and would actively shelter them from it until they were adults.
@ananiasacts - How is a child able to opt out of a secular indoctrination by their society? Does the constitution protect them and their parents from persecution from anti-religious Zealots who find no shame in open pornography, yet find the cross a disgusting display? The constitution protects the right of religious people and non-religious people to practice their religion according to their conscience. continued...
@ananiasacts - It is the right of parents to raise their children with the tools they will need to be successful in life? You obviously are free to make your choices, were you raised in a religious home? Christopher Hitchens was and found his way out of religion just fine. I personally think that secularism is the most damaging sect of society and that religion is the bastion of hope.
@ananiasacts - The argument and statements you have made could easily, in fact more easily reversed. Children now, more than ever need a moral compass to guide them through the vicissitudes of life.
@caesarmoridon: thanks for posting this beautiful video. it is at the heart of what makes mormonism different and what the book of mormon teaches about jesus christ and the new world. regardless of one's beliefs, i find all the unkind mischaracterizations of mormonism distasteful and mean-spirited. i also think the effort to discredit mormonsim through deliberately misleading information and blatant lies unchristian. thanks for posting something accurate and fair about the mormon faith.
Main stream Christianity is more about self then God. They are more interested in their one week excursions to help others in other countries then to help the pore in their own congregations. They have no infrastructure and have no idea where they are going. How can you tell a church of God They love their neighbor as themselves to do this you must love God. I know no other church that does this better than the lds church Even though they seem to have some very odd ideas. Should I join???
John 10:30 I and my Father are one. you used one part of srcipute but forgot this part hence the trinity... God the father God the son God the holy spirit. 3 parts but make one whole, take an apple for example it has for basic principles a core meat and skin(flesh) now all are a part of an apple but have different textures tastes and "jobs". Jesus is the Son of God and is God in the same way an apple has apple meat and an apple core, same apple just different parts to make it such.
@River101010 - There is also the analogy of the cloverleaf where they are one leaf but three leaves. Where Catholic based Christianity gets it wrong is in the understanding the nature of God and our likeness to God. The scriptures are wrought with examples and statements speaking of God as our Father, as us being created in his image, describing us as having the potential of Godhood. In John 17, we read the great intercessory prayer where he prays for us to be one as He and his Father are one...
@caesarmoridon Certainly you do not believe that we are all going to be part of the apple. The Godhead (God the Father, Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost) are one in purpose and mission. Their mission is the Immortality and Eternal Life of mankind. They want us to become like them and allow us to participate in the great work of creation. God is Love and His Love is eternal and changing. We can be like him and are commanded to do so in Matt 5:48. We are not a leaf or an apple, but gods in embryo.
instead of comparing the coolness of one god to another ... people should try to open their mind for once in their otherwise wasted lifes! especially in light of things like scientology, where everybody (except for scientologists) can agree that its man-made and crap ... why should've any other particular religion started in a different way?
is logical reasoning so hard to grasp as a concept or on a reality level? investigation is the only thing required here ... but is as always, not present
I am very thankful for the teachings of the church and teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel. My life would have little or no meaning without him. It has also given me a perspective to love all others unconditionally, even those who do not believe in following Jesus Christ or do not believe in God at all. However, personally I believe that doesn't mean He doesn't believe in them and all of his children. May we all learn to be happy and grateful for what we do have versus what we don't.
The video mentions, "Come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet," during the scene where the Indian lady is holding onto the hands. 3 Nephi, Chapter 11, right? _ Help me understand how these people would have understood the significance of those holes. They never witnesses or lived in fear of "Roman Law." _ "that ye may know that I am the God of Israel." That lady is thinking "Where's Israel?"
@sulaearts Read the Book and you will know the answer, and to aid you in answering that question, start with Nephi, the first book where they leave Jerusalem and then continue to read where they speak of the Israel and how the Savior will come and how he will suffer. It is all explained in the first and second books of Nephi and in Mosiah chapter 3 particularly.
@caesarmoridon - Help me better understand where the Book Of Mormon came from, who wrote it, by what authority the author wrote these teachings and by what evidences he presented to those that accepted the book initially. I have read some of the Book of Mormon, but have not fully understood where it came from. I would better be able to accept "openly" the words in the book if I felt the truth and validity of the words more in my heart based on the writing's history.
@letsBlogical - Thank you for your interest in the B of M origin; the B of M came from God through his prophets. They recorded their experiences and testimonies. The second to the last prophet of the book named Mormon, compiled those histories and testimonies and then passed it down to his son Moroni, the last Book of Mormon prophet who added his testimony and a few scriptures he felt pertinent. This Moroni came to the boy Prophet Joseph Smith, who translated it by the Gift and Power of God.
I gave my Heart and Life to Jesus. I was Baptised in His name. I accept and proclaim Him "Son of God" and accept His sacrifice as atonement for my Sins. I repented. I turned away from Sin. I obey the Commandments to the best of Human ability and I Confess and ask for Forgiveness when I Fail. I lean on God's Promise that I am Saved from His Wrath. I have no Righteousness of my own but only what God imparted to me through Grace and Faith. But I cannot get a single Mormon to recognize my Salvation.
@hammerogod - I recognize your Salvation and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (or Mormon as you have called us). So you can now say that at least one member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has acknowledged your Salvation. James E. Faust (now passed) former Second Counselor in the First Presidency spoke of Salvation of people not of our faith regularly and gave account of a woman who had helped him and others. Do you recognize my Salvation?
hello, sorry to open a discussion on this. But hello i'm a christian , baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, And the Holy Ghost. I believe in what the bible teaches. But there is one thing i fail to understand, in revelation one of the last verses states that whoever adds to this book get a plague mentioned added to them and whoever takes away from this book loses their place in Heaven. So my question to you is, How did adding to the the Bible get him to the end of his life ?
@jonofpeace - No problem, I suggest you study Bible history, starting with Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32 and Proverbs 30:6. Further, it is commonly believed that the Gospel of John was written after Revelation of John and therefore, if John was speaking about the Bible in its entirety (which is ludicrous anyway since at the time of John, the Bible was not compiled as one book) he would have brought upon himself the plagues. For more info search Fairmormon(dot)org: Bible add or take away from
@jonofpeace Well, the Book of Mormon doesn't add to the Bible, it's additional scriptures, in Deuteronomy 4:2, it says the same thing, "Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you." That part in Revelations is talking about not adding or taking away from the book of Revelations itself. I hope this helps.
As for their "other gospel"? 2 Corinthians 11: 4For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough. 13For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, masquerading as apostles of Christ. 14And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. St. Paul on false prophets.
@11NewAuthor2 And your point is what? I agree that false teachings like those that came from the creeds of men under Constantine were taking away from the pure truth of Christ's Church and Divinity, Thank God that he restored his church through the boy Prophet Joseph Smith! God be praised!
My poor misguided friend, I have read the Bible in its entirety and am quite familiar with the book of Galatians. The book of Galatians supports my faith and does not take away from it if read in context and understood as the author intended. I find it sad that you feel a need to try and disprove my choice in religion to feel you are fulfilling your religious duties as this is opposed to Christ's teachings. I know Christ Jesus personally as he is my personal Savior and his grace is my salvation.
The verses in Matthew are too long to post, however here is Galatians 1:8: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." I agree that people should not teach false doctrines, that is why our religion believes in teaching the truth as contained in the Gospel and the scriptures. We teach the doctrines of Christ. I find it interesting that you quote Paul, have you read Ephesians? Apostles, Prophets, etc
I know without any doubt that this did happen and is an authentic part of ancient meso american history, and the legend of Quetzacoatl was born that day.
the Christian religion and in the bible has been STOLEN from other religions that predated it from all around the world. Christianity is a tool for removing spiritual/occult knowledge from the populace so this power can be kept in the hands of a few to manipulate and enslave the masses.
While your view is interesting ,(even if very pessimistic), what is your problem with taking from other religions truth? In my faith we are taught to seek all truth where ever it may be kept. I disagree with your assessments regarding the manipulation of the masses, not to say this does not happen, but to class all religions and Christianity with this particularly is incorrect. In America you can choose your beliefs or lack thereof.
Darius, if you want to post comment, you need to be respectful, this includes not using profanities, I will not post anything that uses foul language or derogatory statements to specific groups or organizations. As far as Christianity removing occult knowledge, you must be joking right? First, what do you define as occult knowledge? Are you talking about cursing and rituals to get gain? Are you talking about spells of lust? The Christian faith as a whole teaches against evil, which these are.
It teaches you that we believe that Jesus came to the people of the American's and taught them and blessed them. It shows that Jesus loves all people despite their place of birth or race. It teaches mostly that we believe in Jesus Christ, the same Christ that taught in the Bible; and that as an additional witness to his divine mission the Book of Mormon stands with the Bible not in place of it. Do we not want more witnesses of His life and work? I know the BOM to be true as is the Bible.
all this arguing is not necessary, i mean, all we need to do is wait till the day of the rapture for when you mormons realise you ar left behind...then we will see what you are saying and the looks on your sorry faces..only the holy spirit can win souls..all us true christians can do is minister the gospel and pray for the lost ones..God Bless :)
Brother, you need help, does the Bible teach you that Christians are going to go to hell? I am a Christian and have placed my name in the Gideon Bible. I am saved by your standard, am I not? Your problem is that you do not understand the teachings of Christ. Did he not call all people unto him? Did he not instruct the Apostles to go ye therefore, teach all nations baptizing in the Name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Ghost? (Matt. 28:19-20 KJV). What authority were you baptized by?
did smith actually use a peep stone to interpet the translations,, if so according to the bible that is scorcery, and Jesus warns us to stay away from seducing spirits,,
tnfellow, by your statements I can tell you have not studied the Bible. Joseph Smith used the Urim and Thummim when translating the BOM, much like Abraham of old. Tell me, do you believe in the Ark of the Covenant? Sounds like witchcraft to me that if you touch it you die. What about Joesph and his coat of many colors? How about Moses and his staff? How about Elijah and Elisha cursing people and the people dying? I hope you get my point, you do not know the Bible nor the mysteries of God.
I am an ex-Mormon. All I could say to help anyone is the Bible really is all man needs. The book of Mormon is a contradiction, historical unreliable, and how many changes now? (2000)
One can say the same of the Bible first off, do you know how many abridgments have been made to the Bible? How many versions have been created? Even today most of the world cannot decide on what Bible to follow. The Catholic faith uses the Vulgate text which includes Apocryphal books. The Jehovah Witnesses use the New World Translation of the Bible. Many use the New International Version because of its dumbed down language. I and my faith use the King James Version of the Bible.
Which version do you subscribe too? How many translators does the Bible have? How many dead languages are found in the Bible? Do you speak Hebrew? Being an ex-Mormon does not give you any authority to speak on the Book of Mormon. Can you quote versus from it as evidence to its inaccuracy and contradiction to the Bible? I can site hundreds of versus that coincide with the Bible and its teachings, How many can you site that contradict the Bible. Did you know the Bible contradicts itself?
Nevertheless, I love the Bible, despite the scriptures that contradict themselves and the many books mentioned, yet are not found. I am grateful for John's sealed book as well as the sealed words of Deuteronomy. I am grateful to have as much scripture as possible and living scripture through the voice of a living prophet, who is spoken to by a Living God. I am also grateful for prayer where I can communicate with the Divine and find answers to my prayers and confirmation to the truth I believe.
I am going to disable the ability to make comments on the video. I am tired of debating with people who are only interested in destroying the truth. I have a burning witness of the divinity of Jesus Christ as my Savior and Redeemer. He is the focus of this church and is my Lord and my God. Thanks to all the wonderful commentary by faithful members of the church and your support. I hope this video brings people closer to Christ.
To people who do not understand this video and why I put it here, please read the about the video commentary. I did not produce this video, It was produced by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. A link to the church's website is provided in the comments, where you can learn more about the church and its teachings. God Bless.
The God of the Universe, the Eternal God our Eternal Father and his Son Jesus Christ as declared in the Bible. The God of the Old Testament and New Testament. To some he is called Allah, others Jehovah. Our God, our Father, our friend. The God of peace and love, charity and hope, whose arms are unfailingly extend to us. That is the God in which I bless you with.
Thank you for posting this video and particularly in response to a video that twists very sacred things to promote their own views and hatred of the LDS Church. For those who have questions asks someone who knows and doesn't have an axe to grind.
I need to clarify the way I approve postings. I will accept challenges to my doctrines, if they are well constructed and non-offensive. If foul language is used, comments will be immediately deleted. If you do not use proper English they may be deleted, and if they make you sound stupid they may be deleted, unless they are so stupid they make me laugh.
This is my favorite! When Christ blesses the children makes me cry every time, "Behold your little ones". I feel His love for me and I know HE is my Savior and Redeemer. I AM A MORMON AND I AM A CHRISTIAN!
you cannot be both. christians believe in the Holy Bible and mormons believe in the book of mormon.the book of mormon basically is a rip off of the Holy Bible you guys believe that satan and Jesus were brothers but in the Holy Bible it says in John 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave his ONLY son to die on the cross for our sins. so maybe you should do some research on christianity and compare it to mormonism (they're not the same)
They are the same! I use to be a Southern Baptist. Where faith starts and repentance ends! The LDS church does believe the bible literally and teaches to obey Christ and his Commandments something that ALL churches should do a little more of!
You are correct, the corrupt form of Christianity that has come from the Nicene and other Creeds is a false Christianity that has distorted the true teachings of Christ and his Gospel. That is why a restoration needed to take place. I am glad you recognize this truth. Now all you need to do is find some missionaries and get baptized. You can go to the link in the about this video section and get in contact with some missionaries who will teach you of the restored gospel.
So what you are saying is that Joseph Smith, a man who was practically an uneducated person. Magically found the tablets and translated them to English. Then they magically disappered ? Also that Christ came to the Americas and indoctornated the natives here. Where is that proof besides the Book of Mormon ? Why is there no written history of that ? Could you answer me that please ? Or are you going to delete me ?
There was nothing magic about it. It was divine will. What happened to the Ark of the Covenant?, Noah's Ark, The Holy Grail? We do not even know what tomb Jesus was buried in for sure. Just because we do not have the plate (due to God's taking them) does not mean they are not true. There were twelve witnesses to the actual plates. You seem to lack faith in God and his abilities.
NO OTHER GOSPEL and that IS IN THE WORD OF GOD. No sir my faith is strong. Jesus himself was perfect and told PETER be my stone and told him to lead his church. So you are telling me that JESUS was WRONG and made a MISTAKE ?
Your faith in a 4th century concession or in the restored Gospel? What faith are you? Let me look with you into its founder. Martin Luther desired not to start a Church, but was looking for a restoration to take place. He claimed no authority unto himself. You should know this. If you are a Catholic, you at least have the hope of being the true church, but also have to accept you past which is more troubled than Mormonism.
Do you know how we baptize? Well lets see, it is in the Name of the Father and the Son and The Holy Ghost as spoken by the Savior in Matthew 28: 19, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost." Also from Matthew we read that Jesus Came straightway out of the water, not out of the shower or sprinkler, but out of the water. We baptize with authority in the same way Jesus taught. What method do you propose?
John 3:16 says that God gave his "only begotton Son." Jesus Christ did not have a mortal father, but was the son of God, hence being the ONLY person on earth who was a son of the Father in the sense of having a physical body. Jesus was the first born of the spirits and the greatest of them all. Lucifer was one of those spirits, but was cast out after he rebelled against God. Isaiah 14:12 says that Lucifer was in heaven and fell, it also calls him a "son of the morning," then his rebellion.
I just want to express my gratitude to the many wonderful comments made regarding this video. There are plenty of bad ones too. As I have strolled across YouTube I have found a disturbing trend. This trend is hatred. It is amazing that in todays world where it is considered wrong to call homosexuality a sin, where it is considered and rightfully so to say negatives about minorities, etc. that such bigotry and ignorance can exist.
I've seen a few Mormon videos from the LDS church. I can't think of one that actually talks about theology or Biblical doctrine. For example, man is not saved by the good works he can do (Ephesians 2:8-9) but that good works should be a natural outpouring of one's true faith in God (James 2:14-26). Likewise, Christianity is more than an emotional event where people shed tears for many personal reasons. Christianity is a faith based on facts... (Continued...)
There are several LDS videos that go into Biblical Doctrine. The Lamb of God is a video that goes into the most important doctrine of the Bible, the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Finding Faith in Christ is another video produced by the LDS that goes over many of the teachings of Christ and the witness of his Apostle Thomas Didymus. Every 6 months we have a meeting called General Conference where the leaders of the Church speak about the doctrines of the gospel as they apply to us today.
I have not seen those videos. I would like to see them.
In all truth, I am concerned for the spiritual well-being of Later Day Saints. I am convinced from reading LDS material and understanding some of it's doctrines that the BoM is not another testament, but a different gospel all together. Post again, friend. Maybe we can arrange something for the videos?
If you're concerned whether Mormons are following a Gospel other than Christ's, then follow Christ's admonition: "Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. By their fruits shall you know them." Know any Mormons? Check out what they do and what they are like. That will tell you far more about them than your minister ever can.

How come there is no DNA evidence of any ancient israelite Civilization in either North or South america? (From Mormon Dna Resarch BYU) No ancient Artificts including but not limited to Swords, coins,Equiptment to build them, Armor, Bones of Israelites, No cities, no ruins of Israelite cities?
There is. Where do you think the aztecs came from? The Native Americans? Why do you think that the aztecs were so excited when the white man came. They were promised the return of a Christ. Return implying He'd already come, which He did. They thought Cortez was the returned Christ and Cortez took advantage of this fact. We are still awaiting Christ's second coming; and He WILL come.
actually there is! it's not about the physical evidence it's about the spiritual! back in the day many signs and miracles were shown... and people still didn't believe with there own eyes! jesus was a prime example. he showed people physical evidence every day. and they still killed him. but it's all about the faith inside!
The BOM does NOT mention coins. The Spaniards had a rather interesting account of the Aztecs: their Jaguar Warriors wielded these weapons that they (the Spaniards) called 'Swords', which were clubs with pieces of obsidian wedged into them. One Jaguar was said to have decapitated a horse with one.
As for the DNA, they only tested for the Cohen genome, which doesn't even match Arabs. (continued)
The reason you can't find any cities is because the main four major Mesoamerican civilizations (Maya, Inca, Aztec, Totec) built most of their cities on already-existing ruins.
The Nephites were a highly nomadic people, and their 'cities' would be more properly called 'permanent camps'.
Sure aztecs / mayans etc. beliefs were corrupted (human sacrifices, many false gods and magic), but it's obvious some pieces of truth still remained in their religion.
And yes, it's interesting that those inhabitants build temples. I wonder where that idea came? To me mesoamerican temples look like pyramids, pretty Egypt style architecture ;)
I find it interesting that when Hernán Cortés and other conquistadors came to the American continent, the inhabitants (indians) respected these conquistadors as a returned god.
Aztecs and Mayans had many gods, but one god they respected was described to be white, bright and creator of all things. They waited that god to return as promised.
Mesoamerican priests thought that sacrifices are necessary. Old Testament (priests and prophets sacrified animals) New Testament (Christ's sacrifice)
redbaroniii, aren't you wacting the video? Is that not Jesus Christ? Mormons worship Jesus Christ with all their hearts. We sing praises to Him and His name is even in the name of our church.
Thank you so much for putting this up. It's certainly refreshing to see after all the anti-Mormon propaganda put up by solomonspalding, TheUtahnite, and jhuston.
The name of the church is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Mormons are most certainly Christians. The Book of Mormons subtitle is "Another Testament of Jesus Christ", it does not propose to replace the Bible, but to be a companion to it.
There is only one reason I decided to approve your posting. It shows the ignorance and stupidity of those who attack a church they know nothing about. I am glad to know I worship the brother of fabric (Satin). Please take a grammar and spelling course before posting again. Thank you.
so...the Latter Day Saints? Are they the meso-americans? But why is their no solid proof. I would believe in a second if I could get passed the Joseph Smith part. Why did know one else ever know? Why aren't there no discoveries. I wish it were true, I'd love for it to be true! But it has no backing.
There has been plenty of evidence. The meso-Americans were indeed the people in the Book of Mormon. What do you think the Maya and Aztec ruins are from?
loqutor said "What do you think the Maya and Aztec ruins are from? "
They are from Mayans and Aztecs, not from Jews. The ruins, history, and culture of meso-America do not conform to anything in the BOM. See how that works? This is a nice vid though.
You are correct they are not of Jewish ancestry. They are of the seed of Israel through the loins of Joseph and his sons. The DNA evidence used to disprove there relationship to the area around Jerusalem is flawed as it only sought out the Cohen genome. The Cohen gene is carried by very few people in the world and is not a benchmark for the origins of the Nephites and Lamenites.
The second issue you bring up is also a false premise. If you look at the art of the Mayans you see amazing similarities to the art of the Egyptians. They built temples as well. In the first book of Nephi, Nephi talks about Egyptian influences. The Jaredites came before the Nephites and came from the age of the Tower of Babel. They also were not Jewish. and brought aspects of their culture.
Central to the beliefs of the Church is that Jesus Christ loves all his children. As an expression of his love he visited the peoples of the American Continents also. This history is found in the Book of Mormon Another Testament of Jesus Christ. This video is a segment from the Book Third Nephi one of the prophets in the Book of Mormon.
Thanks for entering this video into the line up of videos here on YouTube. Please keep them coming as to flood out the anti stuff that is growing daily. Please keep it up.

I would better be able to accept "openly" the words in the book if I felt the truth and validity of the words more in my heart based on the writing's history.
letsBlogical 1 year ago

But I cannot get a single Mormon to recognize my Salvation.
hammerogod 1 year ago

So my question to you is, How did adding to the the Bible get him to the end of his life ?
jonofpeace 1 year ago
@jonofpeace - No problem, I suggest you study Bible history, starting with Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32 and Proverbs 30:6. Further, it is commonly believed that the Gospel of John was written after Revelation of John and therefore, if John was speaking about the Bible in its entirety (which is ludicrous anyway since at the time of John, the Bible was not compiled as one book) he would have brought upon himself the plagues. For more info search Fairmormon(dot)org: Bible add or take away from
caesarmoridon 1 year ago

11NewAuthor2 1 year ago
@11NewAuthor2 And your point is what? I agree that false teachings like those that came from the creeds of men under Constantine were taking away from the pure truth of Christ's Church and Divinity, Thank God that he restored his church through the boy Prophet Joseph Smith! God be praised!
caesarmoridon 1 year ago
My poor misguided friend, I have read the Bible in its entirety and am quite familiar with the book of Galatians. The book of Galatians supports my faith and does not take away from it if read in context and understood as the author intended. I find it sad that you feel a need to try and disprove my choice in religion to feel you are fulfilling your religious duties as this is opposed to Christ's teachings. I know Christ Jesus personally as he is my personal Savior and his grace is my salvation.
caesarmoridon 2 years ago
The verses in Matthew are too long to post, however here is Galatians 1:8: "But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." I agree that people should not teach false doctrines, that is why our religion believes in teaching the truth as contained in the Gospel and the scriptures. We teach the doctrines of Christ. I find it interesting that you quote Paul, have you read Ephesians? Apostles, Prophets, etc

the Christian religion and in the bible has been STOLEN from other religions that predated it from all around the world. Christianity is a tool for removing spiritual/occult knowledge from the populace so this power can be kept in the hands of a few to manipulate and enslave the masses.
DariusKnightshade 2 years ago

This didn't really tell me anything about LDS beliefs... thanks.

What authority were you baptized by?

did smith actually use a peep stone to interpet the translations,, if so according to the bible that is scorcery, and Jesus warns us to stay away from seducing spirits,,
tnfellow 2 years ago
tnfellow, by your statements I can tell you have not studied the Bible.

Woody1953Savannah 2 years ago
One can say the same of the Bible first off, do you know how many abridgments have been made to the Bible? How many versions have been created? Even today most of the world cannot decide on what Bible to follow. The Catholic faith uses the Vulgate text which includes Apocryphal books. The Jehovah Witnesses use the New World Translation of the Bible. Many use the New International Version because of its dumbed down language. I and my faith use the King James Version of the Bible.
caesarmoridon 2 years ago
Which version do you subscribe too? How many translators does the Bible have? How many dead languages are found in the Bible? Do you speak Hebrew? Being an ex-Mormon does not give you any authority to speak on the Book of Mormon. Can you quote versus from it as evidence to its inaccuracy and contradiction to the Bible? I can site hundreds of versus that coincide with the Bible and its teachings, How many can you site that contradict the Bible. Did you know the Bible contradicts itself?
caesarmoridon 2 years ago
Nevertheless, I love the Bible, despite the scriptures that contradict themselves and the many books mentioned, yet are not found. I am grateful for John's sealed book as well as the sealed words of Deuteronomy. I am grateful to have as much scripture as possible and living scripture through the voice of a living prophet, who is spoken to by a Living God. I am also grateful for prayer where I can communicate with the Divine and find answers to my prayers and confirmation to the truth I believe.

EvenxInxDeath 4 years ago
you cannot be both. christians believe in the Holy Bible and mormons believe in the book of mormon.the book of mormon basically is a rip off of the Holy Bible you guys believe that satan and Jesus were brothers but in the Holy Bible it says in John 3:16 God loved the world so much that he gave his ONLY son to die on the cross for our sins. so maybe you should do some research on christianity and compare it to mormonism (they're not the same)
Gooberduber 4 years ago

Or are you going to delete me ?
mosando 4 years ago
There was nothing magic about it. It was divine will. What happened to the Ark of the Covenant?, Noah's Ark, The Holy Grail? We do not even know what tomb Jesus was buried in for sure. Just because we do not have the plate (due to God's taking them) does not mean they are not true. There were twelve witnesses to the actual plates. You seem to lack faith in God and his abilities.

LIke Book of Galatians said
6 I am astonished that you are so promptly turning away from the one who called you in the grace of Christ and are going over to a DIFFERENT gospel-
7 not that it is another gospel; except that there are trouble-makers among you who are seeking to PERVERT the gospel of Christ.
8 But even if we ourselves or an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let God's CURSE be on him.
mosando 4 years ago
NO OTHER GOSPEL and that IS IN THE WORD OF GOD. No sir my faith is strong. Jesus himself was perfect and told PETER be my stone and told him to lead his church. So you are telling me that JESUS was WRONG and made a MISTAKE ?
mosando 4 years ago
Your faith in a 4th century concession or in the restored Gospel? What faith are you? Let me look with you into its founder. Martin Luther desired not to start a Church, but was looking for a restoration to take place. He claimed no authority unto himself. You should know this. If you are a Catholic, you at least have the hope of being the true church, but also have to accept you past which is more troubled than Mormonism.
caesarmoridon 4 years ago
But Mormons have baptized incorrectly since their beginning. How can they be enlightened then?
Woody1953Savannah 2 years ago
Do you know how we baptize? Well lets see, it is in the Name of the Father and the Son and The Holy Ghost as spoken by the Savior in Matthew 28: 19, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost." Also from Matthew we read that Jesus Came straightway out of the water, not out of the shower or sprinkler, but out of the water. We baptize with authority in the same way Jesus taught. What method do you propose?
caesarmoridon 2 years ago

It is amazing that in todays world where it is considered wrong to call homosexuality a sin, where it is considered and rightfully so to say negatives about minorities, etc. that such bigotry and ignorance can exist.
caesarmoridon 4 years ago
I've seen a few Mormon videos from the LDS church. I can't think of one that actually talks about theology or Biblical doctrine. For example, man is not saved by the good works he can do (Ephesians 2:8-9) but that good works should be a natural outpouring of one's true faith in God (James 2:14-26). Likewise, Christianity is more than an emotional event where people shed tears for many personal reasons. Christianity is a faith based on facts... (Continued...)
dougrockin1 4 years ago
There are several LDS videos that go into Biblical Doctrine. The Lamb of God is a video that goes into the most important doctrine of the Bible, the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Finding Faith in Christ is another video produced by the LDS that goes over many of the teachings of Christ and the witness of his Apostle Thomas Didymus. Every 6 months we have a meeting called General Conference where the leaders of the Church speak about the doctrines of the gospel as they apply to us today.
caesarmoridon 4 years ago
I have not seen those videos. I would like to see them.
In all truth, I am concerned for the spiritual well-being of Later Day Saints. I am convinced from reading LDS material and understanding some of it's doctrines that the BoM is not another testament, but a different gospel all together. Post again, friend. Maybe we can arrange something for the videos?
dougrockin1 4 years ago
If you're concerned whether Mormons are following a Gospel other than Christ's, then follow Christ's admonition: "Beware of wolves in sheep's clothing. By their fruits shall you know them." Know any Mormons? Check out what they do and what they are like. That will tell you far more about them than your minister ever can.
davea0511 4 years ago 2
Faith based on facts? What facts are you referring to? Faith and facts are somewhat opposite to me.
TheMole1979 4 years ago
Well, Deuteronomy says that anyone who speaks prophecy for God and it does not come to pass must be put to death.
There's a slight streak of skepticism within the faith, however, it's not looked into that much these days I'm afraid.

Lindz8389 4 years ago 2
actually there is! it's not about the physical evidence it's about the spiritual! back in the day many signs and miracles were shown... and people still didn't believe with there own eyes! jesus was a prime example. he showed people physical evidence every day. and they still killed him. but it's all about the faith inside!
LuthorCorp331 4 years ago
The BOM does NOT mention coins. The Spaniards had a rather interesting account of the Aztecs: their Jaguar Warriors wielded these weapons that they (the Spaniards) called 'Swords', which were clubs with pieces of obsidian wedged into them. One Jaguar was said to have decapitated a horse with one.
As for the DNA, they only tested for the Cohen genome, which doesn't even match Arabs. (continued)
loqutor 4 years ago
The reason you can't find any cities is because the main four major Mesoamerican civilizations (Maya, Inca, Aztec, Totec) built most of their cities on already-existing ruins.
The Nephites were a highly nomadic people, and their 'cities' would be more properly called 'permanent camps'.
loqutor 4 years ago
Sure aztecs / mayans etc. beliefs were corrupted (human sacrifices, many false gods and magic), but it's obvious some pieces of truth still remained in their religion.
And yes, it's interesting that those inhabitants build temples. I wonder where that idea came? To me mesoamerican temples look like pyramids, pretty Egypt style architecture ;)
jjrosenberg 4 years ago 2
I find it interesting that when Hernán Cortés and other conquistadors came to the American continent, the inhabitants (indians) respected these conquistadors as a returned god.
Aztecs and Mayans had many gods, but one god they respected was described to be white, bright and creator of all things. They waited that god to return as promised.
Mesoamerican priests thought that sacrifices are necessary. Old Testament (priests and prophets sacrified animals) New Testament (Christ's sacrifice)

so...the Latter Day Saints? Are they the meso-americans? But why is their no solid proof. I would believe in a second if I could get passed the Joseph Smith part. Why did know one else ever know? Why aren't there no discoveries. I wish it were true, I'd love for it to be true! But it has no backing.
Treemeadow 4 years ago
In the Book of Mormon there are the testimonies of 12 witnesses to the Book of Mormon who saw the book and testified to its reality.
caesarmoridon 4 years ago
There has been plenty of evidence. The meso-Americans were indeed the people in the Book of Mormon. What do you think the Maya and Aztec ruins are from?
loqutor 4 years ago
loqutor said "What do you think the Maya and Aztec ruins are from? "
They are from Mayans and Aztecs, not from Jews. The ruins, history, and culture of meso-America do not conform to anything in the BOM. See how that works? This is a nice vid though.
redbaroniii 4 years ago
You are correct they are not of Jewish ancestry. They are of the seed of Israel through the loins of Joseph and his sons. The DNA evidence used to disprove there relationship to the area around Jerusalem is flawed as it only sought out the Cohen genome. The Cohen gene is carried by very few people in the world and is not a benchmark for the origins of the Nephites and Lamenites.
caesarmoridon 4 years ago
The second issue you bring up is also a false premise. If you look at the art of the Mayans you see amazing similarities to the art of the Egyptians. They built temples as well. In the first book of Nephi, Nephi talks about Egyptian influences. The Jaredites came before the Nephites and came from the age of the Tower of Babel. They also were not Jewish. and brought aspects of their culture.
