I don't quite get why John keeps saying Rich has a strong hand. No disrespect to Rich but to me, it seems like Rich's hand is his perhaps the only weakness. I have no doubts that Rich has a strong hand but compared to top pullers including John himself he seems to lose his hand when they toproll him. John even said on Ask John Brzenk page that Rich's weakness was his wrist and that he always tried to toproll him and avoid going in a hook with him.
Todd Hutchings is really something else. There's only a select few armwrestlers who lose their wrist like that and can come back to win WITHOUT having to rely on shoulder press like jerry does or a bone lock like mike todd or crazy goerge does. Hutchings' side pressure drive is still effective with or without his wrist. But he lost to barboza trying the same move so it's not unbeatable.
@backpressure123 IMO Todd Opponent put flat toproll pressure on Todd's hand (evenly) That played into Todd's side pressure. From leverage perspective (of Jujitsu) If the pressure was focus on Todd's thumb to supinate hid hand Todd will lose. That means after a toproll he should follow it seamlessly into a press roll on thumb. It could neutralize the sidepressure defense. But if he does that too slow it will turn into a hook and Todd hook is better
@calvintrainer1212 Yeah I understand what you mean. I heard Ron Bath saying on one of arnolds videos that to beat george you have to use exactly the way that you're saying in order to beat Todd: and that is you have to turn goerge's hand palm up (supinate) by using your cupping strength to isolate+overcome goerge's thumb + pronation strength.
@calvintrainer1212 but I also like the way devon beat mike or dall antonia beat goerge and that is by keep gripping higher up in a toproll. But I guess you can do that while cupping in at the same time. Do u think it's possible to press/hook goerge in a conventional way(supinate ur own hand first) and beat him? I personally think you can as long as you have extremely strong downpressure and rotation though bottom of your hand (little finger) cuz you can still turn the guy's hand over that way.
@calvintrainer1212 btw Todd's hook is immensly strong. Remember first match against Devon he and Devon were even in a up-pressure driven toproll (posting) and when Todd jumped inside into a hook he beat Devon quite easily. His dead wrist press is also pretty strong, although not as strong as Jerry's.
@calvintrainer1212 and the thing is most pullers who face mike or goerge and have trouble finishing them usually manage to break their wrist back but can't force their hands plam up. If more pullers manage to do that I think they'll have better chance of pinning them when they hang on below the table.
@backpressure123 , I 've seen Anthony D' antoria supinated George hand and beat him kinda easy. But I haven't seen others who can supinate his hand yet. If you break hand back but let him stay in hammer position it's tough to finish him, IMO. They all tried to beat him with flat pressure, Cheers
id love to see jerry in a mtch where he didnt have his wrist bent all way back
