I understand people wanting nadal to lose for the huge upset but nadal has done nothing in his career for people to do anything but respect him.....but some of these comments seem to hate nadal (for no reason)
@Morlich209 Agreed. I will root for anyone to win against Rafa (except Fed) but I have the utmost respect for the guy. some of these clowns shouldn't even be allowed to watch tennis they're such hating imbeciles.
@Nadalhauis It should be renamed ...The day he lost his record at the french open and how djokovic will later beat him 7 times in a row, long but sweet.
bullshit. i could also say nadal won rg 2011 only cause roger defeat djoker in the semis. you can only beat your opponent, you have no influence of the outcome of other matches and can't blame for that...
@Arschloch1945 a healthy Nadal has never lost at the FO, so why would he have lost to Novak last year? it's still a best-of-5 sets match on clay...Novak has to play much better than at the Oz Open this year to beat Nadal, yet even to win a set or two from him! Fed got lucky in '09 not having to face Rafa in the final, just because of Rafa's knees:( but luckily Rafa's got the Career Slam with a single Golden twist!
always same excuses from rafatards lol. if he lost a match he wasn't fit, injured, tired or whatever. maybe you havent realize it, but rafa lost 7(!) finals in a row against djokovic. so it's not unlikely he would've also lost the rg-final. nice day. end of discussion.
@Arschloch1945 yeah, he lost 7 matches in a row to Djokovic, but how many of them were on clay and best-of-5? just sayin'. Novak is one of my favourite players, so to have him beat Nadal is way better than the Swiss Miss beating Nadal. this, on my behalf, is the end of discussion.
@RogerRocks070 both of you, thats not funny, really, just an example of bad federer fans being childish...as a rafa fan, lots of respect for federer...just ignore and close your eyes, like you should, cause rafa is just always pwnding federers ass bitches! ;)
Nadal's tennis looks exactly the same here than in the final next year, the difference is that the court is damp here which hurts Nadal's spin and Sod was actually making his shots consistently.
There was nothing wrong with Nadal here (except probably pain which he has almost always anyway), just getting blowed out by a superior player.
What an incredible effort from Soderling here, it was just an amazing match from start to finish, it just came out of nowhere, to manage to put that demolition in Rome a few weeks before behind him and come here and put in a performance like this was astounding, although im not a big fan of Robin i will forever have huge respect for him for managing to pull this win off, he has had an amazing career ever since this win, a shame he's going through some problems atm.
There is no way in hell this was hitting short,if this was hitting short, nadal wouldnt have even made it to the 4th round.
He destroyed Hewitt before this round, everybody was sure he was going to win it.
The reason he landed balls short was because of soderling's hard hitting,His forehand takes a big swing,so when his rushed, the balls usually land around the service line.
It dint help that soderling was hitting rockets around the court without missing much unlike 10' and 11' FO,
Nadal beats Federer because Federer uses a one handed backhand. The high kicking Nadal forehand bounces up to Federer's shoulders making it difficult to hit a solid one handed backhand, this is especially true on clay since the ball bounces higher. That's why Nadal doesn't necessarily dominate Djokovic and other two handed backhanders. Statistically, most of the Nadal-Federer matches have been on clay.
@los4migosdetuherm4n4 only for you , maybe . Cause Rafa was injured and Federer is a lucky bastard to win it . If he faced a healthy Rafa he would've been trampled or creamed ,huh ?
@soydeespana That Nadal was "injured: has to be one of the biggest myths in the history of tennis. (1) look at the match again and tell yourself if someone who entered it with a wrecked knee (as he claims now) can run like that for 3 hours (2) there is not one mention from the TV comentators to the effect that his mobility is impaired (3) at the press conference two days earlier he said to be in great shape and playing almost at the same level of 2008 when he won without dropping a set (cont)
@soydeespana (4) ath the press conference AFTER the match he blamed the loss to his shots being "too short" but no mention of any injuries (5) shortly after he was playing exhibition matches vs Hewitt and Wawrinka, hardly the decission of someone with a serious injury before defending Wimby. Sodeling simply played the match of his life and out-hit Nadal this one time. Period. Any excuse of an injury is a lack of respect for the other player. No insults or name calling. Just arguments please.
@soydeespana and Federer was not a "lucky bastard" to win it. He beat the guy who beat Nadal and got to the final. That is how it works. In his first RG Nadal beat Mariano Puerta, hardly a world class player, but he was the guy who got there beating everyone along the way.
@Bostero3771 Federer was extremely a lucky bastard that rournament , he had a joke cake walk draw and he was lucky and his match with haas who did a major choke that day being 2 sets up and 2 games away from closing out the match , but he made some errors and lost concentration . And facing Del potro who had no history on clay back then . In 2005 Rafa beat a prime Federer and he had a harder draw than anybody else those two weeks . Also he beat Ferrer who's a good clay courter .
@soydeespana You can be lucky winning a match on one point that bartely hits one line. Maybe twice but at a GS you need to win seven matches. Fedex won by beating in the final the same guy who had defeated Nadal clearly earlier in the tournament. Was Nadal a "lucky bastard" last year when he won Wimbledon after being on the verge of defeat in the 2nd and 3rd round against two unknown players? or that he had to play Murray who always chokes and a final against Berdych who had no history on grass?
@Bostero3771 according to your limited tennis knowledge , Berdych reached the QFs in 2007 . Murray is the guy your hero beat at the 2010 final , so with your stupidness you're taking credits from the guy you're on his dick . You're a complete embarrassment .
@soydeespana poor thing... can you read?? do you need me to draw a picture?? again, insults are the only resource of a limited mind that can produce no arguments.
yes, but in 2005 we all tennis fans didn't know that rafa will be that good on clay. Roger wasn't at his highest peak that day.But all credit to Rafa...
@TheDobardecko What ?! Federer was healthy as fuck in 2005 and still got owned by Rafa . His peak started in 2004 . But yeah , who roasted Federer in a slam final ?........The answer is only and only the MATADOR .
@soydeespana nadal needs to be 95% to beat top 40 players on all surface, while federer needs to be I should say at his 80-85% . but when they play together rafa wins because federer chokes, not because rafa is generally beter player, Rafa has unpopular stile,he didn't bring anything special to game in technical perspective, only great fight. that's ok,but even if he wins more slams than roger,i asure you that most people will claim that federer was better.
@TheDobardecko Because Federer chokes ? bwaahhaha nice bullshit from another federer cock sucker . Are you on a drug ? Federer couldn't even make it to the 5th set in all their meetings at the French and was roasted and trampled once , so was that a 'choke' ? . Btw Rafa choked in Wimbledon 2007 final , if you watched it . Rafa owns Federer at the GS finals and the Whole H2H is in Rafa's favor . Go and fucking Learn one or two things about tennis .
@soydeespana yeah, that's statistic.federer is troubled with style of nadal's,no doubt about it. but i can't understand why rafa doesn't dominate the game like federer has once? yeah, murray, djokovic, del po came on the top in last 3,4 years with simillary style and he has more rivals than federer had when he was on his prime. i wonder will nadal be in top 3 when he reaches 30 year. will see....
@TheMegascarface2000 Nadal was NEVER injured in this match. Please see my comments in this page. He pulled from Wimby because he had no confidence after 2 consecutive losses in clay court tournaments and had to claim to be injured to avoid a fine. Please look at the complete highlights (total of almost 20 min) and tell me if he looks injured, or ask yourself if someone with a serious injury plays exhibition matches before Wimbledon. Biggest myth in tennis and lack of respect for Soderling.
@Bostero3771 Nadal does make some excuses whe he lose i agree with that but name me one tennis player who doesn't make excuses whe they lose .. i said that before and i said it again RG 2009 was biggest fluke ever when nadal lost to soderling he was injured ...orelse he would never lose to that idiot soderling .. but iam glad he come back beat soderling in RG 2010 and 2011....6RG and counting....vamos rafa
@TheMegascarface2000 A fluke because it was a one time performance by Soderling, not because Nadal was injured. All big players have a few days when they meet an inferior player "in the zone" and lose. Sampras to Yzaga, Federer to Blake at the Olympics, Steffi to Mc Neil, etc. No injuries, simply a guy playing the match of his life. So far no one has explained how he never mentioned his injury before or after the match, only a week later and how he could run like that if his knee was destroyed
@GnRockzU generally , his short balls are good enough against everybody (Except Djokovic now.. ) so one has to say that Soderling did the unthinkable... Could Djokovic do this in 2012 ? Can't wait to find out!!!
@ArjunJethwa i think when youve won 10 grand slams and the most dominating clay court player of all time you can make excuses once in a while without being called out
@TheSepaugh Well he withdrew from Wimbledon a month later and this was during a time when his parents broke up. So mentally I think he wasn't happy and he was having 'some knee issues' (imo, to cover up family break up)
söderking, please come back soon :(

@ArjunJethwa it is true that he was playing the balls short but it is also true that nadal just give excuses and excuses when he lose

@ArjunJethwa Thats the least you can expect from nadal... nadal just like nadal's fans full of excuses and fll of cheats

@ArjunJethwa The shots are powerful but they're landing in the service box, so it's not as effective.

@GnRockzU I would ask you to see @KaminariKatta comment for a reply to your comment.

@GnRockzU generally , his short balls are good enough against everybody (Except Djokovic now.. ) so one has to say that Soderling did the unthinkable... Could Djokovic do this in 2012 ? Can't wait to find out!!!

@ArjunJethwa i think when youve won 10 grand slams and the most dominating clay court player of all time you can make excuses once in a while without being called out
TheSepaugh 2 months ago
@TheSepaugh Doesn't make you a good sportsman making excuses though, regardless of how many slams you man have - be it 0, 10, 16 or even 50.

@ArjunJethwa true dat but give him a break
TheSepaugh 2 months ago
@TheSepaugh Yeah true true, the guy has beaten Soderling like 3 times since this.

@ArjunJethwa hey was nadal injured in this match? i cant remember but i remember he was out for a while after this one
TheSepaugh 2 months ago
@TheSepaugh Well he withdrew from Wimbledon a month later and this was during a time when his parents broke up. So mentally I think he wasn't happy and he was having 'some knee issues' (imo, to cover up family break up)

@ArjunJethwa oh yeha i forgot about his parents
