I disregard the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian parties all equally. I define Leftism based upon what I learned about the Left's historical perspective: It's always been about fighting authority and hegemony. The Right, on the other hand, has been about maintaining the status quo and keeping power with the wealthy. America has the roles of Left and Right so mixed up it makes no sense at all. Chomsky is an Anarchist, he believes in the eventual abolition of nation states. His position on voting is pretty much, "I wouldn't vote for someone who wants to be President". His theory goes, and I agree, if he wants to be President then he wants power. His ideas on property aren't clear to me yet so I don't know. I think property is a double edged sword. So the question is, how do we retain its good qualities while eliminating the bad?

In Canada we have the New Democrats (your leftist equivalent) and they don't work as hard as in USA but their supportors could switch citizenship and you'd hardly tell the difference.
