Hey. I downloaded Fedora 11 from the internet. I need to know how to login to the root user to install nVidia drivers. This doesn't work while the X server is running. So PLZ HELP ME!
linux is horrible... it looks cool, but its hard/impossible to get drivers converted or whatever for them to work.... and this tutorial is pointless, everyone knows how to click next!
The real power of Linux lies in the person's knowledge of the Bash command line. I had every single fucking driver working on my dv5-1150us, after a bit of wrangling around YUM, rpm, untarring files and fiddling around with the config files. Not to mention also I got back Windows 7, Fedora 11 (see: OSSEC HIDS) and Solaris all triple-bootin' on my hard drive.
The thing is, you have to re-learn everything on *Nix-based systems
believe me, i wanted to learn linux.. but i haven't the time lol... it looks so cool and is sooo fast... but this is a windows type of world, sad to say :(
Just spend one hour a day (or even 30 minutes, if you want to) reading a Linux book. Familiarize yourself with the management basics first: su, chmod, mkdir/rmdir, rem, and all other commands on BASH; as well as the entirely-different directory tree structure of *NIX.
the only thing i can think of is like me , i built a 2nd comp just for testing linux stuff and open source , so don't bother my windows at all . but have to admit i like linux a whole heck of alot more then windows - then windows mac hype it stupid to me Linux systems will rule some day and they are cheaper to run heck even the OS i bought of the linux is cheaper then the others * thumbs up to the writer of open source*- i also play wow on my linux too so kewl , just got The Cedega GUI.
Yes i do know m that i could have burnt it to a iso . but i like having alot more features and like have there was no missing files when i i usually download , so i had perfer to buy is not download it ,plus it a way to support the linux community too - I know it was all free but still they do a lot of work too
When you chose to install on entire drive... If I do that will it delete my current operating system: Vista. Please tell me because I want to have the option to dual-boot vista and fedora. How can i do that??? PLEASE HELP!!
Hey if you choose to install then yes it will erase your HDD. To dual boot just go into vista right click computer go to map network drive. then just partition your HDD then once in fedora or ubuntu just click the partition you set aside for fedrora. If you have anymore questions just comment me or PM me!
Yes, choosing that option will not only delete Windows Vista, but it will delete the entire NTFS partition and replace it with a Linux Partition But if you have Windows Vista recovery disks, you can reinstall Windows Vista again
you will ruin your computer if you chose use entire drive all the data will be lost the best is shrink current system and 5GB is enough, but yet it doesn't deserve to install it is very very hard to install someting so better stik to windows
lol, if u want to just try linux, download ubuntu, download wubi and install it from windows. you don't lose any data, you just set aside how much u want for ur linux os to run on.

Im was a linux hater until I found distros that work, and Im sold on linux.
MrTabby5000 2 years ago
That had changed, the distros I have are friendly to nvidia and intel.suse and fedora. Ubuntu is well too overrated.

Ugh, 100 questions asked, they should really have a look at Mac OS X or Windows 7 installation.
Pepejeria 2 years ago
That's the problem with Win7. You haven't got many possibilities to change the konfiguration.
W0rMs4 2 years ago
You are clearly missing the point. More options does not make a program better.
