  • This is hilarious, but probably best left as a one-off. Don't see how this could have worked over time.

  • reminds me of Garth Mrenghes Dark Place

  • can somebody explain why i watch this? and why i like this? :D

  • O_o meow

  • painfully funny

  • I would watch it =)

  • Oh look, it's Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.

  • @ArmageddonV2 According to my half-assed research, this came about a year before anything with Garth Marenghi in it.

  • @goplanet Fair does. Completely forgot to check, tbh. Internet ignorance ahoy!

  • @ArmageddonV2 I could be wrong too. For all I know the creator saw the stage show before there was real press for it and took the idea.

  • @goplanet Yeah, the similarities are uncanny. Darkplace episodes are always either complete hit or miss. The same with the Mighty Boosh episodes. It seems to be a trend in British comedy. I'm not really sure about this, though. American humor doesn't really appeal to me and I read that they're working on a script for a movie adaptation for this. I can definitely see it either being terrible or ''ironically funny''.

    Wow, rant over now.

  • @ArmageddonV2 Darkplace is 2004 this was 1999, chicken and the egg solved! =D

  • @djqwikstop Actually development of the original Garth Marenghi stage show Fright Night would've taken place around 1999 also considering it was nominated for the perrier award in scotland in 2000

  • The 90's was a hell of a drug.

  • Does anyone also get the feeling of Garth Marenghi's Darkplace? Perhaps its that pseudo-80's look they're both going for.

  • @LeviStar21 i loved the explosion part from the first episode, that part had so much emotion, Garth knew what it was like to explode, i cryed when i first saw that part LMFAO

  • I don't know if this is so bad it's good, or just bad

  • If Adult Swim ever decides to pick this show up, they won't have to worry about it being a one-time speical, considering that this is episode 14.

  • 0:41 I'm Frightroused!

  • Is Adult Swim simply instructed "pick up any show that feels like Heat Vision and Jack?"

  • Why do I feel both frightened and entertained...and yet oddly aroused?

  • The weird fanged dude with the swollen forehead @ 3:01 is actually a clip from the 80s Buck Rodgers series. It was an episode about a space vampire - scared the hell out of me as a kid.

  • WHY WAS THIS NOT PICKED UP FOR A SERIES?!

  • Haha. This had to be awkward for Ben Stiller after not being picked up.

  • This movie has the best one-liners I've ever heard.

  • After careful consideration I have decided that this is the best show about a rogue astronaut and his sentient sidekick motorcycle EVER.

And I don't throw that sort of praise about lightly.

  • Screw Mass Effect story, that shit is better

  • Ah, I know why this show never got made; they tried to get it aired on FOX. The only decent programing that network ever had was the stuff aimed at kids in the early 90s.

    lol "worthless monkey whore."

  • MOAR.

  • Episode 14?

  • Replace Jack Black with Bruce Campbell and this would be shear gold.

  • @Choncer Replace everyone with Bruce Campbell and Bruce Campbell clones, everything is brilliant

  • Omigosh... I need more.... Who would have thought this was a bad idea?

  • "I hardly ever feed him."

Back in the 90s, it wasn't politically incorrect to starve your pets.

  • simpsons didnt do it! or did they? no, definately not

  • Too bad Adult Swim wasn't around in 1999. I think this show could have done well there.

  • Oh my god I love this. Especially since they had Tom Jones do 'Obsession' for the theme song.

  • Reminds me of Darkplace...

  • Ah back when Tv was funny. To bad this never made air, its better then 90% of the crap today.

  • 4:33--I burst out laughing--it just seemed so random!

  • What is the song at 4:31?

  • @crazzzy3444 Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind

  • Cracked brought me here but by god i would have totally watched this show. This is some funny stuff. Takes me back to the 80's totally man!

  • "ALL MONKEY-SLUTS SHALL BE ABSORBED!"

Please somebody put that on a t-shirt!

  • jack black is such a sell out now this is good jack black this is edgy fucking awesome jack black

  • This is a LOT like Garth Mahrengi's darkplace, essentially this but more of a stephen king parody, and british.

  • @ConcreteTodger My thoughts exactly. It's a crime that that show still hasn't been released in USA format.

  • I love the song at 6:11!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • holy fucking shit fuck fuck

  • "You worthless monkey whore."

  • Episode 14? There were 13 more of these? Awesome

  • "Apparently the human mind is not unlike cookie dough."

I'm not even sure what to say to that.

  • this. looks. AWESOME!!

on another note: crazy police lady, why you no feed you dog? :/

  • OH MAN MODERN STONER HUMOR WITH A CLASSIC 90'S FEEL, I AM NOSTALGIANING TOO FUCKING HARD RIGHT NOW

  • TOO... MUCH...90's... can't...take...anymore

  • This should have been made.

  • co-writer: Dan Harmon. As in, Community. Rad.

  • I love how the pilot is apparently episode 14 somehow. :D

  • Garth Merenghi

  • The opening to this is very, very similar to Garth Merenghi's Darkplace.

  • This is the kind of stuff that would be on Adult Swim now (or, at least when I was watching it).

  • @taterboob

yeah, but this would actually be worth watching, unlike the rest of AS live action stuff

  • This looks lame now but in 99 I would have totally been into it.

  • Comment removed

  • Now, see, if I were mean, I would quote that part where Jack Black says "Like me, he's a former astronaut, but also a gifted actor", and then say "'Gifted actor'? He's definitely not like Jack Black, then". But I'm not mean. So I won't say it.

  • @OscarApollo BUT YOU DID SAY IT RETARD!!!!!! OMG!

  • @OscarApollo BUT YOU DID SAY IT RETARD!

  • @cammack07 That's the joke. Besides, Jack's a great actor. He's not playing his usual "rocker-boy" persona in this and it proves what a subtle actor he can be.

  • I wish this had gone on air

  • you worthless monkey whore XD classic if this was on i would watch it because it doesn't make sense but does at the same time XD

  • Holy shit this is sooooooo awesome, I grew up with weird shit like this and the live action The Tick. Why the fuck is there not a movie of this?

  • Shit just gets crazy at about 0:00

  • I love this! Adult Swim should definitely pick this up, even if they only run it as a one time special.

  • Anyone know the song in the intro?

  • Ok Ben, Jack and Owen, it's been 12 years and I'm sure between you guys, there's more than enough money to make this. So I want to know, why am I not sitting, watching an entire series right now??

  • Cracked also brought me here

  • 5:39 The motorcycle walks (er, rolls?) through the door and says that they shouldn't be fighting, that might just be the funniest thing I've ever seen. I don't know why, I can't really explain why I think it is so funny, but I just could not stop laughing.

  • "You worthless monkey whore!" nice.... lol

  • pretty awesome

  • Thumbs up if this is the only pilot on Cracked's list that you actually gave a damn about ;P

  • @atDVXCgaming Fuck you.

  • @ZombiePuppy Dude, they have drugs for Tourettes. Get you some.

  • What is the song at 4:33 ?

  • @Phriendship Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind

  • This looks like something Adult Swim would adopt. they did air some live action shows.

  • Cracked brought me here.

This looks pretty good, funny having Ron silver playing himself and being a cold blooded killer.

  • I hate that this isn't a full show.

  • @skyestheword me too

  • @IronTeddyBear no one gives a shit.

  • @skyestheword A typical cracked reader, continue being a sheep.

  • @skyestheword ME TOO!!

  • This sort of reminds me in some way of Garth Merengi's Darkplace. The sort of self parody, and the really cheesy 80's effects made out to be awesome. Such a shame that Darkplace did moderately well, yet this wasn't picked up.

  • It's the same waitress waitress from Natural born Killers. Mable. Apparently she's incredibly type-cast as the waitress who always gets killed.

  • Thank you, Cracked, for bringing this into my life.

  • Is that Alan Stanwyck's library where Chief Karlin shot at Fletch blew up the gas fireplace?

  • knowledge is power....for reals

  • How much better the world would have been if this aired.

  • This is seriously one of the best things any of the most interesting things these actors have put out. There are some very clever ideas in here that are laugh out loud funny.

  • Jack Austin sounds like Jacks Often like he jacks off often.

  • Jables Is a Fucke My Rock Star

  • Seydvfdewwewqqqqwaawwwqqaaqrrttyipoiyreesfh

  • Double-canceled

  • JB needs to stop dicking around with King Kong and Lilliputians and act in a movie based on this.

  • garth marenghi's darkplace!

  • I TOTALLY would've watched this!!!!!

  • Apparently there's high hopes of this becoming a movie, at least that's some good news for this classic pilot

  • @donutplay I'll believe it when I see it, but yeah, I'd love to see it. I've loved this for so many years, but sadly it wouldn't work well as a show without an epic writing staff. That said, this would be a PERFECT movie/miniseries.

  • Much of what he did with The Ben Stiller Show was WAY ahead of its time, this project too shows how far ahead of a curve he indeed was. The joke with this show is the homage to a particular genre of shows in the early 80's such as Knightrider, Automan, Greatest American Hero and The Master. But then this goes that step further harking back to Quinn Martin-style action drama like Beretta or Starski and Hutch.

I'm glad to have found it! Great Satire is always misunderstood.

  • Never seen this before nor heard about it..

But this is cheezy as hell and looks like it came out back in the late 70's and it's hard to think that this was made in the early 90's..

It looks like a really bad cheezy movie. I'm surprize Jack Black never try to make this into a real movie. LOL..

  • @WarshipAngelus 1999 is hardly early 90s

  • @WarshipAngelus

Haha, that's what makes this so awesome!

  • @WarshipAngelus - You're right, it must have been made in the 70s --- when Jack Black was in 4th grade.

  • @johnjhill3 This was made out of 70s nostalgia.

  • Pretty good, too bad it didn't get picked up for a summer run and/or had at least one season we could now watch on dvd.

  • she died to Semi Charmed Life by Thrid Eye Blind. That must have sucked.

  • Unaired? I see America can't even accept a dumbed down version of 'Garth Marenghi's - Dark Place'

  • @lambdatune Oh f**k off, Heat Vision and Jack came first. If anything, Darkplace might have taken its ideas from this!

    Both are worth watching.
