It wasn't them it was us ha, Prentiss Wagner and Eric Gordon's picks were amazing defensive plays they both jumped the route sorry james but it was us and we played bad and STILL won
Whistle blows, the play is over. Correct? Whistle blows, the offense, now defense, stops chasing the player with possession of the ball. Correct? Either way, I'm a true Vandy fan born and raised. A Vandy fan can accept a loss and move on due to our past, but Franklin is paving a road for us that the SEC should be worried about. Bring on 2012! 'GO 'DORES' ANCHOR DOWN!!!
@Cabella87 How the hell are you complaining about the call? The ref made a mistake BLOWING THE WHISTLE in the first place. You lulzy Vandy fans are too much.
@Cabella87 Bray had a broken thumb, Hunter was out, Brewer was out, Poole had an ankle injury, yall shoulda beat us hard. Just a question, is Vanderbilt beating Tennessee next year going to be dependent on half the Tennessee team being injured?
I agree with CJF on the questionable call regarding the blocked kick. I've never heard of, or seen, where it mattered who blocked the ball vs. who touched the kicker. Regardless, we didn't play our best game. We did fight our butts off and put ourselves in position to win the game. Congrats to UT for the victory. I was impressed with how well Bray played considering his injury. Vandy's future is bright and I love the direction we're heading. Go 'Dores ... Anchor Down!!!
Vanderbilt should've been allowed a chance to defend what might have been, the winning TN field goal, but as it turned out, the "refs" decided to circumvent the rules of the game. Like it or not, Vandy wasn't the one who blew the whistle and marked the runner down.
The fact that Tennessee fans are actually talking trash to Vanderbilt fans shows how far Tennessee has falling, and how much Vanderbilt has raised it's profile with Coach Franklin in one year.
Franklin is awesome. Its a shame that UT couldnt find a coach like that. Vandy is clearly the better team, but like Franklin said while running off the field while being taunted by idiot UT fans, "We will be back".....and they will. Congrats UT biggest win of the year lol. future doesnt look good. Get a coach.
I'd like to see TN play Vandy as the last game of the year, and play KY earlier in the season. Mabe it would change TN's annual 'bowl run November'. If KY and Vandy have a traditional weakness, it's that they get worse as the season progresses.
Vandy will always lose to UT, this was the year they had the best shot and they blew it, just wait till UT gets back to its standards it will just be vandy to us and it will be a tune up game!
Why would it be vacated? The Tennessee player intercepted the ball and returned it for a TD. You think that it shouldn't have counted because the refs made a horrible call then overturned that horrible call when it shouldn't have been reviewable? That makes zero sense. Bottom line...if the play had been called correctly...and that is the ultimate test of what is just...Tennessee scores the winning TD on the INT. That's what happened. Quit making excuses.
@goldenvu- you say that, but that doesn't change the fact that Eric Gordon's knee didn't touch the ground. You LOST....accept it. That being said, I think James Franklin is a great coach and will bring great times to Vandy soon.
Statement from Steve Shaw, SEC Coordinator of Officials
"On the last play of the Vanderbilt-Tennessee game, in overtime, the Tennessee defender intercepted the pass, his knee did not touch the ground and he returned the interception for a touchdown.... The play was reviewed as if there was no whistle on the field and as a result, overturned the incorrect ruling. By rule, if there was a whistle blown, the play is not reviewable."
Well, the whistle was blown... no doubt. What a steal! Vacate it!
@goldenvu whistle or not that was going to be a touchdown regardless..... The ref wrongly blew the whistle, which the SEC has already stated..... so they just said there was no whistle..... that was a legit touchdown that almost got taken away because of mediocre SEC officiating, which third times a charm, didn't cost us yet another game....
I am an Arkansas fan...I am truly and honestly afraid of what Vanderbilt can become with a coach like this. AMAZING coach. If he starts recruiting well...look out.
This guy tries to come off like he is harder then nails. Just what Vandy has needed for a long time. Very odd for me to see such Cockiness with the V though. As a Vol Fan I hope he does turn it around for the Dores. Just not against the Volunteers! Glad to see the dice roll to Dooleys advantage at the end of the game for the first time since he's been here. That Ref that blew the last play dead was just one of many knucklehead calls that were made in the game though. w/o a 100000ft jumbo?
I feel sorry for Franklin. He has 30 seniors on his team and couldn't get it done against a Tennessee team that starts 8 freshmen. It is going to be hard to compete, but I wish him luck. Seems like a passionate guy. I hope he can maintain his passion with the lack of support in the stands. I was the KY - Vandy game and the support is abysmal. Good luck Franklin.
If Vanderbilt makes the commitment to the football program like they do with the baseball and basketball program things will change. Franklin has already done a great job. You have to win to recruit and hes doing that. Go Dores
I like Franklin's fire, but he has no idea what a meat grinder the SEC is. He is not going to have Vandy kicking tail by year 2...period. Florida is down this year, and Tennessee is down this year. Vandy is recruiting better, but they are not catching up with the beasts of the SEC. LSU, Bama, Arkansas, Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Auburn, and Tennessee. That's 8 teams Vandy will not pass no matter how much work they do. They may grab and upset here and there, but that's it.
@rickerproperty thank you for your advice but you are completely wrong and your statements are inaccurate. Arkansas is one fumble. UF = recruiting, Ala & LSU = national championship game. Again thank you for you continued interest in the program but Vandy = making believers out of doubters.
The change is real and you have been added to the list. See you @ the bowl game.
@rickerproperty Tennessee hasnt been a SEC beast in years. That being said I really liked what CJF said here especially wait two year and we will see a real culture change.
Two wrongs made a right in this game. SEC officials this season have been horrible.

No.
