  • @TripleRhu : Uh..I think ya ought kinda sorta mebbe consider that I *did* mean 1963..

Of course I *could* have MEANT '1063'...if I were a TimeLord with that Time-Travel lifestyle, yes?? :-)

  • Too bad there is no better quality recording...

  • Note to pjioayncoe:

You are correct about the 'showy' bit, m8..

My fave (And the BEST, IMHO) happens to be Earl Wild (Pinaist) & Russell Stanger (conductor) with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Circa 1063 or so.

    Just my tuppence, m8..

  • @BadNews88 CIRCA 1063?!?!

jk, just pointing our your typo :)

  • BEST

  • This is playing of the highest order. I am simply stunned!

  • I love Richter's surprise moment in this.

  • ...tnx truecrypt for posting this.i only knew the version of sura cherkassky/karajan which is pretty amazing :))

  • In this rhapsody Liszt creates the scene with high calibre and instrumentation of fits of cacophony, and, Sviatoslav Richter transforms this into a decadent masterpiece. Thank you TC for another great video.

  • I prefer the Hungarian Rhapsody for solo piano to this arranged version. This seems a little superfluous at time and somewhat too "showy." But a great energetic performance nonetheless!

Are there recordings of Richter playing Liszt's Hungarian Rhapsodies or Paganini Etudes?

  • He only played the 17th Rhapsody.

  • My! This really gets the blood flowing!

  • Richter thought that way too!
