I liked the first Pirates of the Carribean movie but I hate the fact they changed the ride because of the films. It should be remembered that this great ride inspired the films and not the other way round. It should have been left in it's classic old-school brilliance. And they shouldn't have got rid of the pirates chasing the women either, that was funny and probably pretty accurate. Why would people get offended by that? Pathetic.

@MBrilliant I know you are beyond mad that they put Johnny Depp robots on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. But just be thankful that they didn't put Eddie Murphy robots on the Haunted Mansion ride!

Whoa...hey, hey now, why are we all upset over this? I'm not hating on the ride or anything, but why bash the movie? The first one was very good, and Depp's acting in there was awesome. Now if for some reason they changed the ride to fit the movie, then yes, that is very bad that they did something stupid like that. But the movie is good, and so is the ride. Let's all get along and be happy.

@jedihunter176 Obviously, you don't realize that those films were based off this ride, which was built a good 30 some years prior to. They changed it because the films got popular, and they took out a number of elements to throw in those goofy movie characters. My anger and hatred toward them has a reason behind it.

@MBrilhart Ar, yes, yes I do. I'm very aware of it. All I'm saying is, separate your ideas. Both the movie and the ride are good. The movie doesn't have to be an exact representation of the ride, and the ride definitely should not be an exact representation of the movie. The movie merely has some ideas that were based off of the original ride. I like them both as separate things, is that so awful?

I'm totally with you, MBrilhart! The very feeling of the ride was mangled to no end by the pointless inclusion of Deppenstein and his compatriots! Some of the inclusions are just asinine, marring the story only for the sake of marketing. Especially the way they changed the dialogue in the Dunking scene...*shudder* It's awful!

Thank you so much for posting this, I plan on visiting the almost-original ride in Disneyland Paris some day. My favorite footage of the ride in it's original state is the one made for the Wonderful World of Color TV show.

Omg don't even start me on this. Sad sad sad. That's Disney greed for you though. Total attempt to get people to flock to Disneyland. The ride is so annoying now. Every 10 seconds you hear, "CAPTAIN JACK SPARROW! Seriously. Next time count how manytimes your hear and see Jack Sparrow. And freaking Davy Jones says his name like 5 times. Especially as you leave, "says I DAVY JONES! Did I mention my name is DAVY JONES!!!"
