Also wondering, when you say "Collage" and refer to the womans head, (this piece is gorgeous, btw) do you mean you printed the womans torso from a digital collage via computer, or that you ...? I am just wondering how you achieved the softer look on her head VS. chest. Thanks!

@davezak thanks big pimpn! Will the master touch frame canvas hold up on 1half inch frame or wil it sag from weight? Love the paintin of the 1920s look chic
@davezak Ok. Can I use the epoxy on canvas? Will it crack? Thank u . If u ever got time pls look at my art abstract n tel me wat u think of if im waistn money. thank u dave.
@grapeapevine no will NOT crack!! the only thing with canvas, is that the resin is heavy, so it may SAG in the middle. - do a first coat THIN to make the surface rigid, and then do a thicker second coat!
Were can I buy epoxy in bulk? Its 20bucks at home depot for quart. I need 2 jus to do a 36x48. So id cost 45 to do. Were do I find it cheaper an mass quanity I got like 40paints to varnish I dont care 4 varish cuz im new an not that good at not fogn it up.
@davezak wondering if the same question was asked, but where can I find the two chemicals to mix to create resin? What are the names of them, expoy and hardener? Or is there a more specific bit of info I would need to find the good stuff? Also, is it expensive to buy the two chemicals that you mix together? About how much in the USA would you think it costs to buy the big A and B jugs you have in this vid? Thanks so much, great vid!
@grapeapevine 1 coat of resin is equal to 50 coats of varnish and it is alcohol, fire, water proof. it is like glass. also used on boats and floors in factories, so very durable.
@bronxbeat1 is the resin old? is it stored in extreme heat or cold? experiment with the blow torch closer or further away. the blow torch is the BEST method for a flawless, bubble-less finish. tell me more information and we can figure out what is the issue.
@aao26 a few thoughts: 1. is the painting on soft canvas, so it is sagging because of the weight? 2. is the resin no thick enough, so gathering and leaving blank spots? 3. are you touching the resin too late after pouring it so that is is not staying flat... it may be too dry for you to keep spreading it and playing with it? stop touching it earlier! 4. is the painting on a level surface? use a level to make sure before you pour. let me know if any of those help or give some more detail! :)
@aao26 are you moving the resin around after 20 minutes? it is self leveling so if you leave it alone, it should be smooth?? tell me mow info about the issue and we can figure it out.
@u13moons resin is often used for bar tops... you can buy it and find it in furniture shops often... manye of the tables for sale will have a resin finish as it is! i have an artist friend who resins art-coffee tables. good tyler tilley. also known and next-level-art in toronto. maybe ask him how his experience was. great guy
@u13moons it can scratch. resin is very hard though. it is non toxic when cured and very commonly used on tables and bar tops. glass can also scratch... so just treat it well and have placemats etc. if bad scratches, it can be buffed out with work (research this) or you can pour a new coat on top and all imperfections will disappear.
@u13moons yes resin is liquid, so will fill in the lower places and fill up. you may need to make edges using duct tape to catch the resin in the top... like filling up a shallow box with the resin - once cured, you take off the tape edges and will have to sand the edges.. maybe use a router table. you can definately make a textured surface 'glass-smooth' with a thick coats of resin
hey Dave congrats on your marriage! hey buddy how are you? just got back from Belize. i am resining a massive painting in a few minutes. i'll let you know how it came out. peace and love bro....Randy
@randyallengregg cool, ya let me know how the big piece turns out Randy. things are good! busy in the world of New-Media-Advertising. everyone wants a video distributed on the web! why can't everyone want one of our paintings instead :P nice to hear from you!
ur work is so beautiful.. i have a question...what other material can be used that gives you the same result but that's more readily available then the epoxy resin...is there anything i can get at home depot...
@fisus00 nothing else is really as wicked as epoxy resin... I experimented with polyurethane.. but the results were similar to applying white craft glue thick and letting it dry.... not nearly the glass finish that epoxy gets us. Now.. many hardware stores DO have exopy resin.. it is used to finish table tops and bar tops. also check boat hobby stores. also used for industrial flooring... hope that helps, and good chance it will be at the hardware store. cool.

Hi Dave. Thanks for the vids. Just found them tonight (pulling an all-nighter now I guess, LOL! When you say "this is collage printed out," I think I get the gist of what you're saying, but do you print out on normal paper or real photograph paper? Do you use medium to actually 'stick' the print-out right onto your artwork, or do you do some kind of a photo transfer? Sorry I'm pretty green but totally intrigued!!! thank you, to you and Rebecca for your vids.
@valeagrl1 Hey, glad you found the videos helpful! Here is what i do.. nothing that sexy. i print on normal computer paper.. and i apply it in small squares with a glue stick... once, i paid for a big print-out at the store but turned out looking too perfect, and was pricy. the lines an imperfections are part of the style. hope that helps :)
@kratosii ya it makes such a difference to the work eh.. i havent NOT resined a painting in years... it is just a given that i resin them. do you have art we can see?
Polyester resin is more for casting (pouring into molds). Epoxy is best for coating beacuse it is more adhesives than polyesters. Epoxy is higher strength and has less shrinkage than polyesters. - We sell epoxy resin. - both will work though!
Ya.. I know... thought I'd get crap for that or no face mask. I do wear googles, face mask, long sleves, open garage, gloves when I do this not for a video... It's not worth the risk. I feel light headed if I don't use the proper type mask too... not cool.
Love your work John. (I am assuming the video on your channel is your show?)

i get bubbles even when i use blow tourch. its so upsetting.any ideas?ido many pieces a week and some are very large.
bronxbeat1 1 year ago
@bronxbeat1 My only real idea is to buy more expensive resin... Do you buy cheap resin?
The torch SHOULD really remove the bubbles.
Or is the resin old? was the resin stored in a really cold, or really hot space?
davezak 1 year ago
@bronxbeat1 5% xylol- xylene

Dave since artresin.com doesnt ship internationally can you recommend some products/brands to use that arent yellow when they dry?
nikitaa 1 year ago
@nikitaa google eti-usa - on their page click on 'envirotex-lite' and then 'where to buy'.
hopefully something there will be close to you. ask these people what product will be best for non-yellowing! hope that helps :)
davezak 1 year ago
hey nikitaa do you live in the UK? i do & I've been looking for some apoxy resin to buy but i just can't find it anywhere.
thanx

@nikitaa search for EX-74. you can find a list of international distributors at eti-usa (google their website...)

it is on a stretch canvas... weight is probably the issue.
