why couldn't they make the anime based on the manga instead of this one, it doesn't even have an actual plot ash just meets new pokemon in every episode occasionally go to gym win a badge lose in the league go to the next region. The day ash wins in a league match means the series is pretty much over, on the other hand we have pokespe wich has an awsome plot nearly too much epicness and hot characters that actually age instead of staying 10 years old forever.

@777Roxen Ash is Red, anime-style. Gary is Green anime-style. The rest had dissappeared, at times a few returning at different names. If anything - Pokémon chronicles. I've seen gold and crystal if I recall. Different names, and silver wasn't there but some guy who took Chiko as a starter.

@MrRiippe being based off someone doesn't make you the same person. Ash was only based off of Red other than that they are completely different. Take the movie Titanic for example. It was based off the real thing however it wasn't the real ship and not everything in that movie happened in real life.

Considering all there are about 3 Red's:

The one called Ash from the anime series

Red from the Pokémon SPecial Manga

Red from the games.

All in all, they are all diferent. Each one has their own story, and none of them are related. The only thing in commun is Pokémon, Gym Leaders and Team Rocket. And even these are different in each story

o.o so many! I didnt know about Isamu Akai though... but by the looks of it, that manga has nothing to do with Ash from the anime... funny considering that most animes are based of mangas... Each series was made with pokemon and yet none of the stories is related at all...
