@sparticool Stupid. Allies were supplying Serbs with weapons and ammo because they were the ONLY ones fighting Nazi in the Balkans. Serbs didnt have to save anybody and one of the saved pilots wrote a memoir in 1999 where he said how Serbs refused to give up the American pilots to the Germans even after Germans buned down an entire village and killed everyone in it. I guess you can find a way to put a spin on that as well.

Communists did messed up things during the WWII. They just didn't care about casualties at least on Serbian side. After the war Ustashe were forgiven and forgoten but Chetniks were always a treat to the new established government. Unfortunately, people of Serbia have a forged history. Draza was never a collaborationist, in fact he tried all he could to save as many people as he could. In some countries that is considered noble. In Serbia it is a sin.
To answer one posed question: The US encouraged by Churchill to back the Partisans because it was felt that they were doing greater damage to the occupation forces. It was later one of Churchill's greatest regrets.
