Great video! Most of the tips are spot on; breathing low and relaxed, keeping your jaw relaxed, shooting your sound up and over (some teachers say "through your cheekbones" or "through the top of your head"-any visualization that helps you to sing with your soft palate raised)
I would recommend against lemon juice, however. It is only a short term fix. Acids are bad for for long term vocal health-including lemon, tea, softdrinks, etc. Water and/or sugar (honey/lozenges) are good for hydration.
I think it really just depends on the person. Acids can be bad if you have acid reflux. I can't have anything sugary before I sing, it dries my throat out. Honestly water and vocal rest are the best, but if you're in a pinch, the lemon works. :)
yeah honey is what my singing teacher always tells me, but from my understanding the honey isn't to tighten them up, it's to help them if they're dehydrated, so honey and lemon is the best - also drink lots of water :)
The breathing thing is so true. Because of chorus and band and vocal lessons and other various things I actually always breathe from my diaphragm. It's just become a habit [:
haha now I feel retarded for not making a video on Friday because this was what I was going to talk about. WAY TO GO CAIT. D: I'm joking, though. This is way better than anything I would of done, as I've never taken a vocal lesson in my entire life.
is it true professional singers cant really have a six pack because of the way they breathe x) ?

Oddly enough, I've -always- breathed with my stomach/diaphragm.

Aw man, that idea about the carry on song sounds sweet!
It would be awesome if it ended up like Bohemien Rhapsody with different parts :P

When you said: "That's all I really had to cover with you today," I expected you to say "My name is Caitlyn Sky, and you've just been philled in."
This video was very helpful~ I don't play any instruments, but I would like my vocals to be less shitty for when I randomly burst into song. x]

Thank you so much.
I don't play the guitar personally, though I'd like to, and I'm more of a vocalist.
These tips were great and thank you for the lemon one as well.
Enjoy your day and I hope you come back to all of us mixtapers soon.

I find that eating a bit of honey is great for tightening up the vocal chords at short notice (and is a little nicer than sucking out a lemon).
Great tips Cait and that challenge is... err... challenging. ;)

Haha breathe with your lungs :P When you use your diaphragm you're still breathing with your lungs ;-).
Very good tips. I've had three years of vocal lessons, but I hadn't heard the lemon tip yet. Definitely one to remember!
I've got one very important tip to add: stay hydrated! And keep your room hydrated, because your mucous membranes will dry out if you don't.
