  • Mermaids started off as humans they mutated and got morphed when they were in the water so long ur body gets used to the water and u mutate to live in that habitat

  • This was a ride at Disneyland. They took it out and they put in a Finding Nemo ride in its place.

  • This Is so freaking fake it looks like it's from some kind of movie

  • Strike that it was the 50's -60's

  • Retards this was a ride at disney it's not fake when some one never clamed it was a real mermaid. film looks like it was made in the 60's or early 70's possibly late 50's with techno color as thats how they did color back in the 40's and 50's as far as my rough knowledge of things where

  • FAKE cause the mermaid fin is rinkcled it wouldnt be if it was real cause if it was real it would of just blended in with its skin...........FAKE

  • @irockskinnez123 he's not saying this a real or fake this is a ride that use to be at disney but got replaced by the finding nemo ride now geez.

  • @ohmigoshness1 na just fuck your mother bitch!

  • @chantae2cute when i read this i felt like my brain got spammed.

  • were the mermaids animatronic or real?

  • @632waldo they were people in costumes, i think

  • great video! what is this a part of? I noticed at the end that its about to transition into Natures Wonderland and I'd really like to see that part too (:

  • if this ride came back i would so like audition or whatever to be a mermaid for guests to see i would absolutely love to spend my entire day underwater doing what i love. whether i get payed or not it would be a dream come true and knowing Disney they have all the money and would want this to be as realistic as possible so they would be the big bucks to get tails like H2O Just Add Water and being able to to swim in one of those and have it fitted just for me would unreal. Sry about the long comm

  • I saw a documentary recently about these two women who have lived their whole lives trying to be the closest thing to a mermaid. They've both had realistic, prosthetic tails made and can hold their breath underwater for minutes at a time. They deep sea dive with their tails and it's natural to them both. This job would be PERFECT for them if they still had this ride. They should bring it back and employ those women.

  • @helxig what was it called? id like to see it :D

  • @13aqua13 I didn't think I'd be able to find it for you but after a bit of research here it is! :D watch?v=2wmTuTqZOHY&playnext=1&list=PL2BD1DD6AE83FFE07

  • @helxig thanks so much! :D

  • Yes. You rock. "- D I thought it was going to be clear footage of the animatronic mermaids from way back but you had the ones they hired in the 60's to "play" in the lagoon. Wish I'd been born to see those ones. That would have been cool. That said, I prefer the old version to the Nemo version also!

  • My mother actually worked as one of the mermaids when the ride opened. I wish that it had remained this way as I would have loved to try this job as well.

  • @NicolaAlexandrovna Wicked!!! Your mom's a celebrity!! (A real one! Not one of these contrived ones they have now.)

  • @Wakkosgirl

Aw, thank you! I'm glad that Disney is expanding and what not but sometimes I wish that they would keep certain classics the same.

  • cool

  • Trippy

  • dont remove

  • ive been on a ride similar to this in the cayman islandss IT WAS AMAZING

  • awesome video!!New Waves Mermaid show episode 2 is out!! make sure you check it out! there will be lots of water and lots of boys!

  • okayyyyy....

  • That was so fake

  • @phoebegambliinxx it was a ride at disneyland..

  • THOSE ARE REAL? THAT IS AMAZING!

  • oh so this was really a ride at disney?? i just remembered back when i was 5 or 6, when my family went to disney, i was sitting on this chair looking out the window, and there were mermaids swimming outside more like dancing!. so this was it? how cool. sucks why they took this out.

  • WOW!!!!!!!! I WANNA SEE ONE!

  • that disneyland looks so awesome i just read a book about every detail of the old disney!! and i i wish i was there! it was a little more risky but aweeesooomme!!

  • they got rid of it because the girls were getting sick from bacteria in the water and because tourists would jump in to get pictures with the "mermaids" i know this for a fact, i read it in a book about disneyland and facts about the rides

  • :O!!!!

  • thumbs up if they should still have this ride at disneyland than the finding nemo one

  • @XxZmoK3sxX They DO. I saw it when I went at Christmas.

  • FAKEY

  • lozers.....

  • tha tail isfake!

  • I miss seeing the "possessed dolls" that came after they thought real women wasn't a good idea.

  • is that real??

  • @bbrucelong u can tell the tail is fabric by the way it moves n the knees its not rl

  • Disney used to have mermaids, but they had to get rid of them because men kept jumping into the water and swimming out to them.

  • @beetlejuicexx3 haha thats funny

  • fake but nice =)

  • Wait! Was This @ Disneyland?? If So. That is Way Cooler Then Nemo!!!

  • love mermaids!!

  • @TheChipmunkschipette Yay! I LOOOOOOOVE Ariel!

  • @lilcrazy09 me two!!!

  • @lilcrazy09 And all the chemical rashes that came with the role? haha.

  • fake? you guys are morons.

This was an actual ride at disneyland. I don't know if its still there or not.

I remember going on it 15 years ago when I was a kid. The "mermaids" would take breaths of air from scuba gear/air tanks so they could stay down there for hours.

It was AMAZING. Things aren't what they use to be...

  • Still there but now it's a finding nemo thing. No real people/living creatures anymore.

  • are you sure they had mermaids 15 years ago?

cuz i went almost 30 years ago, and i dont remember seeing mermaids

  • no, i don't think they had mermaids 15 years ago. they only had the mermaids opening day, than during the late 60's for a couple years they had them.

  • you gotta admit that they are hot though

  • um no. im A girl . and not a lezzie

  • my apologies, very inapropriate

  • so ppl dressed like mermaids???

  • On opening day they hired gals to float about.

  • oh? cool!

  • thats disney land!! lol

  • fake

  • ridiculous

  • lol

  • I hope they can add the live mermaids back to Disneyland resort. Maybe next year at DCA where they are currently constructing a Little Mermaid ride.

  • Is this that old Disney ride?

  • mermaids are real incase you dint know

  • no there not that was a fake as you can tell that was just in a movie chances r from disney

  • another bull sheet video.....

  • It's just sad that they had to stop due to the fact that the water was highly chlorinated and the mermaid womens' hair turned green. Green haired mermaids are cool though, but when your off duty, it would be weird.

  • You stole 22 seconds of my life for ppl in costumes. GIMMIE BACK MY LIFE!!!

  • You clicked the video and watched it through without pausing or anything. It was your fault.

  • the one doing her makeup is awesome! I love the fact that none of them have stupid air supplies. They just preform like mermaidsw tih their natural breath holding talent ^_^

  • gimme back my 22 seconds!!

  • my grandma was one of the mermaids .___. strange.

  • That would be a kick-ass job!

  • at the start of the ride its girls in mermaid suits but later in the ride its robots

  • don't cheating people

  • yea right u dont rock ever its so fake u can see there knees

  • wasn't this the ride that the nemo ride replaced?

  • yup, such a shame too. That ride was awesome. miss it. :(

  • Thats the OLD ride at Disneyland!! I LOVED that ride!

  • Totally fake! Faker than fake oh!

  • hn...looks like sumthin from a really bad 40s movie...

  • cool i wanna take a mermaid home and do things to it on my bed ;]

  • geez, of COURSE it's fake guys. But you have to admire the effort on the costumes especially in that day and age

  • well....i would say that it is fake cuz mermaids tails are like smooth and flat and those were like not flat and the girl that was sittingshe had a little point and a blush thingy so i could tell that the point was her nees in side

  • its fake..you sure u rock??

  • Wow in color those people must have been Super Super Wealthy

  • goh, the mermaid tails we have today are way better than those ones, those look all stiff :\

  • its so awsome you do rock

  • Yes it Is

  • Is this the old sub ride on disnyland?

Because they did have one and I really wanted to go on it! But they changed it to finding nemo! Stupid!!!

I heard that the disney ride did have real peaple in costumes(Mermaids)but something in water made them sick! so they stopped. - _-

  • yah, it was the gases.Amazingly no mermaid ever drowned. they were thinking of making it a "Little mermiad" ride but in the went with a more modern story.

  • isn`t this some old movie?

  • You do rock! Thanks for the upload

  • Its's just sitting there on a rock not paying any attention to the massive submarine that just happens to be going by! how can it b real??

  • are those mermaid like real?

  • they are not real they are girls dressed as mermaids,

this is the ride at disney before they replaced it with nemo.

but they took the girls out because of chlorinated water exhaust fumes from the sub

  • and you figured that out all by yourself? have a cookie

  • i was explaining it some other person under me. duh

  • am I the only one that finds that creepy?

    probably...

  • No way! That IS way creepy. I hear ya...

  • my dad told me that when he was going on that ride as a kid, there was this older guy who freaked out!

he had a flashback from world war II, and they had to like get the medical staff.

  • are those mermaids real people or like animated .. things?

  • how much is the salary?

  • i remember when i was like 5 my family went there and i saw those mermaids and i thought they were hot as hell.

and of course i was really amazed.

  • There were no robots. Every so often, the ladies would come up to the surface to breathe. No one died. They took the mermaids away because the actresses would get sick from the chlorine and the diesel fumes of the submarines.

  • exactly

  • you're right, but did you know that's only half the reason?

the other half is guys would actually dive into the submarine lagoon for the mermaids. of course, they were escorted out of the park by the cast members. but it happened VERY often.

however, i didn't know it had to do with the submarines (only looked it up after i read this cuz i didn't think it was true to be honest)

    good knowledge on this!

  • Yeah I heard that the men would actually jump in haha

  • LOL. Really?

    Wow.

  • They shouldn't let the mermaids swim the whole day, only on like special or certain hours like 1-2 hours a day and let other mermaids rotate. I'm sure it would work if they tried that out, hopefully they'll bring it back in the future with better technology not trying to harm mermaids :)

  • Oh yeah, I'm sure that the mermaids were on a rotation. But we don't know how strong the chemicals were in the water. Perhaps even an hour in the water could have start side effects.

  • Yeah with less technology back then, I'm sure the chlorine was pretty hazardous. But we have better chlorine in our pools today, and people would spend more than 2 hours swimming in it and they are fine (if you look at it that way).

  • @ATilleyProduction Another reason is because men would jump in the water to "get a closer look" at them. lol

  • @AriaInTheSky Yah! I remember when I was 6 and that I was taken to Disneyland for the first time (circa '88, late 80's), there were REAL women, and I always told my mom, "they are B E A U T I F U L !". She often joked with my aunts and dad that when I grew up, I'd break a window inside the sub and go flirt with them.

    Oh, my childhood =)

  • @ChrisDaron Haha That's funny!

  • @AriaInTheSky Did you ever see the dolls that replaced the actresses? there are some videos here. They look CREEPY! heheh. That's why I call them "possessed dolls".

  • @ChrisDaronI'll have to look into it! I'd hate to die before my time, though. lol

  • my friend's friend's mom was a mermaid on that a whilt ago...then it closed

  • Whoa! How cool!!!!

  • Dude! I decided what I want to be when I grow up! A mermaid at Disneyland! How easy would it be to swim around and preen?

  • how did the mermaids breathe?

  • They prob have gills like fish do i guess

  • youre fukin metal

  • other than visits to the surface to wave at the guests, behind several rocks and kelp there were air bubbles coming up. Actually, they were oxygen hoses. Girls would swim over there and breath from them. But some of the girls didn't always take the breaks they should have... a few died. That's when they replaced the mermaids with robots.

  • They don't.

  • thats the answer i want to know....

tell me when you find out :)

  • Yeah the women had to work there for 4 hours everyday.

  • wow it must have been awsome fot thoughs women to do that lol :D

  • Lets all talk about mermaids now. No more talking about god or gays. X.x

Yes the mermaids were women that worked at Disney Land, but were taken off due to health issues with the gas fumes of the subs and sunburn....

  • But, God created the mermaids which make me feel so gay! (Sorry, had to). XD

  • Its alright lol But thats very true :3

  • hehehe it IS true!! ;)

  • I've been on it as a kid, but yeah the submarine ride and the cars you could drive were always breaking down. Good times. Matterhorn, space mtn and pirates still awesome last time i was there (1995)

  • I wonder how they did this?

  • i believe that they got rid of it(broke down too much)..if it is there it would be at the starwar experence near the autopia..it is on a track and it is like one story above ground, and it is either the loudest thing there, or it is broken :D

  • Dang x_x That sounds so fun too.

Guh, I remember when they had the Michael Jackson 3D adventure thing, THAT was freaky lol

  • Yeah, I believe that it used to be the peoplemover. I miss THAT slowasheck ride. It was slow, but you could go "through" Space Mountain!! I got a picture of it once with the lights on, from the peoplemover!!! Yay me!!

  • i believe that is like a nemo theme...i dont know if they worked out all the bugs(like that awesome car one in tomarrowland that goes like 80mph)

  • Bwahahaha I have to go on this thing now. And I had no idea there was a car that did that O.O;;; Which one is that? Just for future reference of course. *grins*

  • that awesome car ride is gone :[

    i miss it!

  • Yeah its the Nemo ride now, I went on a few months ago... it was pretty cool haha.

  • lol i got so freaked out with that damn snowman! but this was like 10years ago from when it was last operational (before they reopened it i believe last year)

  • o_o They reopened it? Thank god I'm going this Summer, that's going to be awesome!

Yeah, that thing TERRIFIED me. I had horrible nightmares the first time I went on the Matterhorn. I remember going back when I was eighteen or nineteen and being all, "LET'S SEE WHAT YOU'VE GOT SNOWMAN D<" and then going, "... I was scared of this?"

  • just taking up some space so that others dont have to deal with this spew of hatred toward one anothers!

i remember as a child when i went to disneyland and rode the "yellow submarine" from what i recall i saw the mermaids were getting air through plastic tubes that is how they were able to stay under so long

  • I don't remember ever riding it. I remember being on the Monorail seeing the tracks under the water for the ride and wondering what it was for, but I never was actually on it.

I was too busy being afraid of the Abominable snowman on the Matterhorn x_x

  • lol, the 8th largest submarine fleet next to turkey.

But seriously what's with some of these comments I thought the video was about mermaids not about homosexuals or god.

  • It WAS about mermaids until someone decided to unload his butthurt views on Disney being all about gays now.

  • meo - not replying, just tired of hearing your crap.

  • What a good boy :3 You're finally learning.

  • nope, you are just far too gone. sad. oh well.

  • ... I should probably say something about the video. o_o;;;

YAY mermaids :3 Nice video. Thank you 8D
